This is a live recording of a the final sermon I preached in 2024 at GCFirst Assembly of God where I pastor. Unfortunately due to internet issues we were unable to stream the service so I quickly grabbed a wireless mic and hit record on my phone. The big idea of this message is that we can enter a new year ready to walk in obedience, wisdom, love and light that are from our Heavenly Father. We can start the new year intentionally, being diligent to follow Him wholly.

JOY. Dietrich Bonhoeffer wrote in one of his Christmas sermons, "Not all can wait – certainly not those who are satisfied, contented, and feel that they live in the best of all possible worlds! Those who learn to wait are uneasy about their way of life, but yet have seen a vision of greatness in the world of the future and are patiently expecting its fulfillment. The celebration of Advent is possible only to those who are troubled in soul, who know themselves to be poor and imperfect, and who look forward to something greater to come.” (God is in the Manger: Reflections on Advent and Christmas, Bonhoeffer) --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/thepreacherchick/message

Love. It's wonderful and confusing and tender and reckless. It can be seen in the smile of a new mom, a proud dad, a bride and groom. But there is no other love that left all the power and comfort of royalty to live like every other human, never making a mistake, who gave their life to pay the penalty for all humanity's sins for all time. Today we celebrate the third week of Advent and although unconventional and out of tradition, we're focusing on love. Listen in for why I put Love here, and what God's love means to all of us. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/thepreacherchick/message
