Before you start to learn the alphabet it's important  to understand that you do not need to have perfect pronunciation when you start to learn a language. I put this chapter  at the beginning to help you, as an autodidact,  to read more closely than conventional speakers do. Learning a language is a long process. Ideally,  you should be able to amplify your vocabulary reading  news, books, letters and posts on the internet. Indeed, you also need to read them with the native sounds during this battle with unknown pronunciation. To show that, let's  see an example of a Portuguese word pronounced in English. A great example with a very independent animal. A cat Um gato Oonhn gah-toh Even cats are not your favorite pet. In both languages, the word is easy to pronounce. Obviously it's not like that with the whole dictionary. However, look at the next example. A watch Um relógio Oohn reh-lawh-gih-oh                       Therefore, we need to start with the structure of the Brazilian alphabet. It is not too different from English. It is true, the letters are the same, 26 in total. On the other hand, we have some symbols to use with the vowels and under the letter "c".
