Jimbo's got Julien Laurens, Seb Stafford-Bloor, Pol Ballús and Italian expert Max Callegari alongside him to recap all the latest action from across the continent. Fresh off the back of last week's thrilling Champions League quarterfinals - it's back to domestic matters - but with a nod to the small matter of Arsenal v PSG and Barcelona v Inter just around the corner… Back in Serie A, Napoli moved level on points with Inter at the top of the table after the Nerazzurri were beaten 1-0 by a stunning goal from substitute Riccardo Orsolini. So, could we be heading towards a play-off to decide who takes the Scudetto?! In Spain, Barcelona and Real Madrid scored dramatic stoppage-time winners to keep the La Liga title race alive ahead of Saturday's Copa del Rey final between the two. No such luck for Atleti though, who saw their slim title hopes dashed courtesy of a late defeat at the hands of our favourites Las Palmas. Over in France, it's all eyes on Arsenal for PSG as they continued their march to an unbeaten league season with a 2-1 win at Le Havre. Marseille put five past Montpellier to take back second place from Monaco - but it's their plans for the rest of the campaign which have raised a few eyebrows… And in Germany, the Bundesliga title race is all but over as Bayern Munich thrashed Heidenheim 4-0 to move eight points clear after Leverkusen were held at St Pauli. But could Xavi Alonso's focus be elsewhere with links to the Real Madrid job growing stronger? Produced by Lucy Oliva. RUNNING ORDER: • PART 1: Moments of the weekend - well, four French moments of the weekend (00.45) • PART 2: Serie A review - Orsolini stuns Inter as Napoli move level on points (06.30) • PART 3: Ligue 1 review - PSG prepare for Arsenal and Marseille head to… Rome?!
The FC Crew react to Real Madrid's 1-0 victory over Athletic Club, thanks to a very late Valverde winner. It's time for The Truth!Today, Sam and Dougie are looking at Real Madrid, and where things have gone wrong for them over the past couple of months. The perennial Champions League winners are out of the competition they love most, are currently second in La Liga to Barcelona, and whilst they are in a Copa del Rey final, they face off against Barça there too - who they've routinely struggled to contain all season long. We examine the hand that Carlo has been dealt - with squad building and injuries playing a key role - and question whether it's his fault that this squad stacked full of talent just isn't clicking right now. We also take a look at the potential contenders to succeed him, as well as what might be next on the agenda for Ancelotti if he does depart the Bernabeu this summer. Has Carlo been given an impossible hand to play, or is he justifiably at fault for the struggles of his team this year? Well, The Truth is somewhere in the middle... Hello Rank Squad! It's time for this week's second Champions League Takeaway - looking back at Wednesday's Quarter Final second legs, where Arsenal and Inter were able to maintain their first leg advantages to progress to the semi-finals, but in very different circumstances. Dean is back in San Diego and back in the booth, so we start with Arsenal winning 2-1 at the Bernabeu to knock out the holders Real Madrid 5-1 on aggregate, reaching their first semi-final since 2009 in the process, and starting what could be a long period of self-reflection for Los Blancos. It was a game full of drama, but one which Arsenal controlled, and they were worthy winners both on the night and over the two legs. Then in Part Two, we head to San Siro, where a full-blooded, full-throttle affair between Inter and Bayern Munich ended in a 2-2 draw, sending Inter through to the final four with a 4-3 aggregate win. We explore why Inter are so good at getting back up when they've been punched, and how their experience in the dugout helped them see out this tie with another very impressive performance both defensively and offensively. It's Ranks! Susan Valverde, the president of Sylvan Learning, has an extraordinary story from a young immigrant to a top leader in education is truly one for the books.Imagine moving to the U.S. at 12 not speaking English, facing every obstacle you can think of—and not only overcoming them, but using those experiences to reshape the future of education. That's exactly what Susan did. After excelling in school despite the language barrier, she became the first in her family to attend college. But it was a Sylvan Learning commercial that set her on a life-changing path. Inspired by the brand's impact on education, she made the bold decision to leave her career and open three Sylvan Learning centers in Texas, serving some of the nation's poorest counties. Her centers became some of the highest-performing in the network.Susan's franchise success eventually led her to Sylvan's corporate team, where she rose to president in 2016. Now, she's transforming Sylvan's approach to learning, modernizing the curriculum, and pushing the brand forward with parent company Unleashed Brands.Susan speaks on:How her journey as an immigrant, first-generation student, and passionate learner ignited her pursuit of a career in education. The bold move from franchisee to president—and the lessons she learned leading Sylvan centers in some of the most underserved communities in Texas. The massive changes she's driving at Sylvan, including a game-changing customer experience overhaul set for 2025.Her unique perspective on the current state of education—how budget cuts, understaffing, and curriculum changes are impacting kids, and how Sylvan is stepping in to bridge those gaps.Susan's journey is a testament to the power of resilience, passion, and believing in the potential of every child.
Hello Rank Squad! Dean's back in London, so it's less of a Transatlantic Job this week, but that doesn't mean there's not still plenty to discuss. Today, we're looking at the Champions League Quarter Finalists, but in a slightly different way - examining who the most important player is for each of the eight teams remaining in the competition, from the perspectives of how they've played so far, as well as who is most likely to step up going forward. We take the eight teams in turn ahead of their QF matchups, thinking about star performers across the course of the competition, but also about which player their opposition would remove from these games if they were given a choice to do so - giving us some interesting names and discussions around how we rank players in systems. We finish by trying to pick a top three each, but we found that was a harder task than either of us envisaged to begin with! It's Ranks! And remember, if you'd like more from the Rank Squad, including extra podcasts every Monday and Friday (including our weekly Postbox taking a look at the whole weekend of football) and access to our brilliant Discord community, then why not join us here on Patreon?

What does it mean to lead with both heart and results? How do strong leaders build teams that thrive while ensuring business success? In this episode of Leadership With Heart, I have the pleasure of speaking with Susan Valverde, Brand President of Sylvan Learning, whose leadership journey is nothing short of inspiring. From starting as a franchisee to leading a national organization, Susan's path is a testament to perseverance, adaptability, and people-centered Leadership. Throughout our conversation, Susan shares how her deep belief in her team's potential has shaped her leadership approach. She reflects on how growing up in an immigrant family, learning English alongside her loved ones, and working through challenges instilled in her the importance of collaboration and resilience. That foundation has fueled her leadership philosophy—one rooted in trust, open communication, and the belief that a strong team is the key to sustained success. One of the most compelling moments in our discussion is when Susan recalls not showing up as the leader she aspired to be. She shares a vulnerable story of losing a key team member unexpectedly and realizing, in hindsight, that she had missed critical signs about that person's aspirations. Rather than dwelling on the disappointment, she took it as a lesson to engage more deeply, to ask better questions, and to ensure that every team member has a space to share their goals. This moment of self-reflection has driven her to foster an environment where leaders support business growth and nurture personal and professional development. Susan also emphasizes that leadership isn't about having all the answers but asking the right questions. She highlights the importance of agility in an ever-changing world, especially as Sylvan Learning continues to evolve in the education space. Under her leadership, the company embraces new technologies, enhances learning experiences, and expands opportunities for students across diverse communities. At the heart of it all is a commitment to ensuring that all children, regardless of background, have access to quality education. This conversation is a powerful reminder that leadership is an ongoing journey. It's about balancing results with care, making tough decisions while remaining deeply connected to people, and constantly evolving to meet new challenges. As Susan shares her insights, she reminds us that great leaders create space for others to grow, that resilience and adaptability are non-negotiable, and that success is not just about personal achievement. It's about lifting others along the way. What are the leadership lessons that have shaped you the most? How do you create an environment where people feel empowered to grow? Let's continue the conversation.

It's time for The Truth! When we talk about the best managers in world football, certain names come up over and over again (and rightly so) - the likes of Pep Guardiola, Jurgen Klopp, Jose Mourinho and Carlo Ancelotti. But you'll also hear shouts for Diego Simeone, for Mikel Arteta, Antonio Conte, Unai Emery and many more. Rarely though, is the name of Simone Inzaghi mentioned - despite his Inter being fairly dominant in Serie A, his exceptional record in cup competitions as both Lazio and Inter boss, and the fact that his team play some of the best football in Europe when they're on song. But why? We dig into Inzaghi's tactics, his personality, his teams; and try to understand what's holding him back from being heralded as one of the bastions of this generation - and if there is anyone else deserving of the 'most underrated' crown that we're giving out. So is Inzaghi undervalued because he's reluctant to take praise, because he doesn't love the limelight, or because people genuinely believe this Inter side isn't very good? The Truth is somewhere in the middle... And remember, if you'd like more from the Rank Squad, including extra podcasts every Monday and Friday (including our weekly Postbox taking a look at the whole weekend of football) and access to our brilliant Discord community, then why not join us here on Patreon?
