Sometimes in our travels around the sun, you come across some special people. Joining Brad in the mothership for this episode of the Unidentified Flying Podcast is the man, the myth, the legend: Marty Peercy. Known to many for a multitude of reasons, Marty is the force behind OKC-SPAN, which in his words is an "independent journalistic endeavor" where he covers and live tweets public meetings in Oklahoma City. He is the husband of Oklahoma City's Ward 6 Councilmember JoBeth Hamon (14:00) and attends as many public meetings in Oklahoma County, not just OKC, as he can. (28:05) Doing so allows him to provide insight into local government workings that not many people have all the while adding his famous snark and opinions. (52:17) Being people oriented and experienced in helping others, he details some hurdles the people of OKC face when it comes to transit, healthcare, and experiencing homelessness (1:08:13). OKC-SPAN also has it's own podcast but did you know Marty co-hosts another podcast called On Our Campus that is looking to expose corruption and misconduct at the University of Oklahoma? (1:31:50) And last but not least also be sure to check out his writings on Oklahoma City Free Press which is an online publication that covers local OKC news.

(3:08:21)
Drue and Brad are back in the habit broadcasting straight from the mothership. We begin with Area 51, our home away from home, and it's supposed invasion. Then moving on to the OKC Thunder getting blown up and Russell Westbrook leaving (15:15), and finishing with the main topic: the state of journalism and media in Oklahoma and the world which starts with an Oklahoma Gazette article that is about the slow decline of The Oklahoman newspaper. (34:30), the Epic Charter Schools investigation and Epic News Network (47:46), how the speed of the news is too fast using a recent example involving Destiny Christian School and the rape of a 4 year old in Midwest City (1:12:23), how Brad came up with a story and it was copied by Deadspin and the The Tulsa World (1:27:19), and what changes might help media outlets going into the future. We also sit down with Taylor Mullins, creator of Oklahoma Shakedown, a documentary investigating the Oklahoma earthquake phenomenon.
With the recent raids of a local business called the Friendly Market in Norman, Oklahoma, UFP takes a look at how opinions have been applied as law enforcement. From the psychic abilities to know what an object will be used for in the future, civil forfeiture laws that allow for the seizure of money from citizens that have never been charged with a crime, or the use of high tech equipment to gather data, the scope and power of some of these activities has given rise to calls for reform.

With the recent death of Aubrey McClendon, UFP takes a different look at the man than most Oklahoma media outlets would and discuss how his life and death were covered by the local press. Were his business practices really good for the state in the long term and if facts were omitted about him locally, what else in the news is being left out and who is to blame?
Oklahoma is where the wind comes sweeping down the plain. It's also where oil and gas are king. On this episode of the Unidentified Flying Podcast, we talk about new technologies that are being implemented and on the horizon which may affect Oklahoma's economy and how wind energy has revitalized rural communities in the state. We ask, what if we if we don't need as much oil? What if these changes are not in the distant future and closer than we think? Plus Brad speaks with Daniel Wade, the builder of the "Downdraft Dome", a project that involves building a working model that could solve multiple problems not just in the state of Oklahoma, but the world.
The big action of NFL free agency has come and gone as Drue and Brad talk with UFP Dallas Cowboys correspondent Ryan and ask what he thinks that means for the team in the upcoming 2016 NFL Draft. In the second half of the show, we start to take a look at the most toxic sports fans in the state of Oklahoma in what will be ongoing coverage of a campaign of pettiness and hypocrisy by some OKC Energy FC fans and members of one of it's supporter groups, The Grid. How they are a detriment to the sport of soccer, other teams, and growing the game in the state.
Whammy! It's a double dose of the Unidentified Flying Podcast this week as Drue and Brad welcome UFP's Batman correspondent, Ryan, to discuss the inspiration and also some expectations of the movie Batman VS Superman. Comic book movies being a topic UFP will be revisiting in the future, we touch on other franchises of the past and wonder what is in store for a movie industry laden with superheroes.
The Unidentified Flying Podcast returns to the topic of the Oklahoma City Thunder. Should Thunder fans be surprised Cameron Payne saw a decline in playing time even though we predicted that might be the case before the trade deadline even came to pass? Plus, who is covering the Thunder? We talk extensively about a Bryan Curtis article that claims there are no real "insiders" covering the team, even when it comes to local sports coverage.
