It has been 1 week since CFR47 so I thought it would be a great time to sit down with two ladies who were busy the whole week with all things CFR and media, Cassie Hausauer with Lipstick and Cowboy Boots and Darby Crouch with Everything Cowboy, to go through the week from their side of the fence! We discuss the week day by day and round by round and get an inside scoop on all the contestants, animal athletes, and go-round wins. We also chat about the 2021 Canadian Champions and all the award winners from the Night of Champions. If you missed anything from CFR this is definitely an episode you won't want to miss! Part two of the CFR special brings us the season leader in the Ladies Barrel Racing, Justine Elliott! Not only did this cowgirl qualify for her third CFR this year but her horse, Blondy, brought home her second award in a row as well with, "Barrel Racing Horse with the Most Heart". Justine also talks about her riding experience growing up, what qualifying for her first CFR at 16 years old was like, and her up and coming horses. We're back and ready to talk the Canadian Finals Rodeo! This week features the season leader in the Breakaway Roping, Lakota Bird. Lakota talks about her upbringing, horses, and what it was like competing in both the barrel racing and breakaway roping this year across Canada with the CPRA! We wish nothing but the best for Lakota as she competes in the Breakaway Roping in its debut to the Canadian Finals Rodeo this November in Red Deer!

Episode 19 brings us Jill Barron! Jill is an exceptional horsewoman and has turned her passion for horses and coaching into a career. In this episode Jill discusses her role with the Working Equitation community, the Calgary Stampede Showriders, and the Heart of the Horse event scheduled for later this year, which Jill will be a trainer in and the FIRST female trainer to take part! This is another great episode for all you horse lovers out there and I can't thank Jill enough for agreeing to come on with her busy schedule!

Welcome back to another week of the Women of the West Podcast! This week I am joined by Dr. Carling Matejka. Dr. Carling takes us through her journey to becoming a mixed animal veterinarian and how she has used social media to educate the public on veterinary medicine and agriculture. She also provides some amazing insight to the agriculture industry and what it may look like in the future. This episode is a favourite of mine as we got to really dive into both veterinary medicine and agriculture and I can't wait for listeners to learn more about these two professions!

Television Producer, team roper, and Miss Rodeo Canada Alumni, this week features Katy Lucas for Episode 17! This is a great episode to tune in to if you've ever wondered what it takes to be an ambassador for the sport of rodeo while also being an avid competitor. Annie Oakley truly embodied the values that the "Women of the West" Podcast holds and we are beyond pleased that she is the first woman to be showcased in the "Women of the Old West" mini series.

This week I catch up with Madison Thomas with Madison MacDonald Trick Riding after her recent trip to the WNFR in Texas! We took this opportunity to talk about all the background work that went into the production of the WNFR this year, her 21 years of trick riding experience and recent teaching sessions, and all the hopes she has for the future (the Thomas and Mack better prepare itself for when this lady enters the arena on a barrel horse!) while having so many laughs along the way. Thank you Madison for taking the time to come on and talk so in depth about all your amazing achievements, experiences, and my favourite part - your horses! We're starting off the new season with one of the 2020 WNFR arena photographers, Roseanna Sales with Roseanna Sales Photography! Not only are the number of women to acquire this position few and far between but she was also voted the 2017 PRCA Photographer of the Year and the 2017 WNFR Behind the Scenes Photographer. On the episode we talk about everything from her beginnings, her time being a rodeo photographer, and what this year at the WNFR will be looking like for her as well as some life lessons she's learned along the way. Roseanna Sales is the first women from the United States to be featured on the podcast and it was such an honour getting to interview her.

This week I caught up with Rodeo Administrator for the Canadian Professional Rodeo Association and rule book guru, Randa Nugent! Randa shares an inside look at the CPRA and the Canadian Finals Rodeo and what makes it all run so smoothly as well as talks a bit about the beginnings of her love for rodeo and the barrel racing world.

This week with Alison Keene, President of the La Due Ladies Lunch, we dive into learning more about the beginnings of the La Due Ladies Lunch, the scholarship program, and about the life and history of Florence La Due. This episode was truly such a privilege as Florence La Due was such a great example of all the character traits that one thinks of when they think of a cowgirl and to get to talk about her with Alison reminds us about the reason we all look up to the women we do. This week I catch up with a family friend, Macki Baird! Macki and I talk about her time on the rodeo trail with her husband, her role of being a timer for the CPRA, and the highs and lows of being a stock contractor, with some funny stories in between (like how she spent her honeymoon)!
