POPULARITY
Happy Wine Wednesday! It's the holiday season and shows are on hiatus, so it's the perfect time to discover new faves and take the occasional trip down memory lane to revisit past shows. In the previous episode, Reverend Solomon Missouri and I discussed a new fave - The Bear. This week, I'm switching gears and revisiting a show that had so much potential and then completely alienated its audience in an astonishing fashion - Sleepy Hollow.I'm joined this week by Stacey and Tamara to unpack our very complicated relationship with this series. The discussion is broken out into two parts. In part 1, we discuss the Sleepy Hollow pilot and revisit the magic of Tom Mison and Nicole Beharie on screen. As always, the pilot discussion is spoiler free and limited to the events of the pilot only. In part 2 of the discussion, we talk about the series as a whole and pull no punches. We get into the terrible treatment of Abbie Mills as a character and Nicole Beharie as an actress. We discuss the writers biggest crimes against the audience and the many, many times the show completely wasted the potential of its talented cast. It was a long overdue, cathartic conversation about a show that went from being must see television to me blocking most of the writers' room on social media after their poor responses to valid criticisms from the fans. Check the chapter markers to see where part 2 of the discussion begins (roughly around the 1:16:00 mark).Friendly reminder: we drink, we know things, we use adult language, and we have a good time! You can find all of the links to support Stacey here. You can find Tamara on Twitter here and IG here. And don't miss recent episodes on The Bear, House of the Dragon, She-Hulk, and Shameless. Support the showFollow the pod on IG and Twitter. Hello, SleepyHeads! This week on Witness Prophecies, we discuss Sleepy Hollow's winter premiere, Season 3 Episode 9, entitled "One Life" which originally aired on February 5, 2016. “One Life” is not only a reference to Revolutionary War hero Nathan Hale's famous last words (“I regret that I have but one life to lose for my country,” but also Ichabod Crane's awareness that he has only one life, he is a witness, and he must soldier on in his quest even if it means doing so without Abbie Mills. After a few weeks of sickness and hectic schedules on both ends, Abbey and Sarah are back to talk about episode 6 and 7 of Sleepy Hollow. Episode 6 recap: We talk about how much we loved Joe and how we hope he sticks around. We briefly see Jenny and wonder why we don’t see her more often. Henry tries to manipulate Frank into killing the man who maimed Maisie, and we wonder again why we don’t see more of Frank in this series. Beginning to see a pattern? Let’s add another famous face to our list of people Crane has interacted with. Daniel Boone everyone. Did the Shaman skull save Joe, or was it Abbie? Abbie now know that Frank has signed his soul over to Frank. What does this mean for the future? Episode 7 recap: Basically we spend 40 minutes ranting. The only good thing about this episode was Reyes. It leads to some interesting discussion on what we think the future looks like for sleepy hollow.
This week's episode was intense to say the least and fans are in a frenzy over Ichabbie v Ichatrina! We'll dissect this episode, update you on all the latest on Sleepy Ratings and happeneings in the 'World of Sleepy'!
Whilst at Birmingham Comic Con this weekend, I had the opportunity to sit in on a round table discussion with the ladies from Sleepy Hollow, including Nicole Beharie (Lt. Abbie Mills, the police partner of Tom Mison's Ichabod Crane), Katia Winter (Katrina Crane - Ichabod's wife, who's stuck in purgatory), and Lyndie Greenwood (Jenny Mills, the kick-ass sister of Abbie). Sleepy Hollow is a modern day retelling of the classic Washington Irving story of Ichabod Crane, and his encounter with the Headless Horseman. In this version however, it's Ichabod who beheads the horseman, only to be 'killed' in the process. Skip forward to modern day, and Crane awakes to find himself buried in a cave, a man out of time... After befriending Lt. Abbie Mills, the pair discover they are prophesied to be the 'two witnesses' to the Apocalypse. Deciding that's probably not the best job in the world, the duo battle to quash the oncoming evil, and prevent the end of days. Sleepy Hollow has recently finished airing... Coming back after the winter break Abbey and Sarah discuss the recently aired Episode 11 of FOX's Sleepy Hollow 'Vessel'. We delve deep into the ever complicating relationship between Jenny and Abbie after some very startling revelations about Jenny's past. We also gush about how impressed with Orlando Jones we were this episode. Actually, all the Irving family acted out of their skin this episode and it was really great to watch. Sarah also revels some slight inaccuracies about period clothing and why skinny jeans were probably Ichabods worst nightmare. We also chat about our predictions for the season 1 finale two-parter airing next Monday.
Abbey and Sarah review episode 10 - Golum of FOX's Sleepy Hollow We talk about how we feel as Ichabod deals with the revelation of his fatherhood. John Nobel returns as the ever interesting Henry Parish, our resident Sin Eater! We moan yet again about how unimpressed and uninvested we are in Katrina's arc this season. We also see some thread of continuity having seen the creepy ass golum/doll in a previous episode. The prospect of a month haitus is killing us, so we ask for YOUR suggestions of a podcast to do over the holidays! What do you want us to talk about? email: welcometosleepyhollow@gmail.com tumblr: welcome2sleepyhollow.tumblr.com twitter: @WTSHPodcast
After finally getting their schedules to coincide (no thanks to crummy gmail messages being lost!)Sarah and Abbey discuss both episodes 8 and 9. We talk about the 'love triangle' we were introduced to very briefly in episode 8 and how we felt about the revelation that headless is in fact Ichabods former best friend. We discuss Irving and Jenny's relationship and how much we love that we get to see more Jenny! We also talk about how we felt about the monster in episode 9 (spolier: Sarah didn't like it.) But we did like the connections being made between Ichabod and Abbie throughout history and how much more it makes their partnership mean for the show. Sarah basks in the glory of predicting that Katrina had a baby and we complain about FOX screwing with the airing schedule yet again.
