FYI - I CRIED EDITING THIS. Judy and Linda try not to outright sob through their discussion of "When Life Gives You Tangerines" (폭삭 속았수다), starring IU, Park BoGum, Moon SoRi and Park HaeJoon.     Digressions:   0:57 - New Patreon donor and Listener E-mails! 12:21 - Judy watched "Twisters", starring Glen Powell and Kiernan Shipka. It just didn't have the same charm as the 1996 film. Boo. 14:20 - Linda was surprisingly absorbed by "1883" and "1923", prequels to "Yellowstone". Who knew she would be so into Westerns? 18:08 - Judy read "Convenience Store Woman" by Sayaka Murata and was fascinated by the POV of the main character and her unusual way of dealing with the pressure to conform in society. 20:30 - Judy watched "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny" and couldn't believe she slept through the climax. Yikes.      Some Korean terms: 감사합니다: [gam-sa-hap-ni-da] "thank you", formally. 폭삭 속았수다: [pok-sak-sok-at-soo-da] "thank you for your hard work", in Jeju dialect. 사랑에 빠진게 죄가 아니잖아: [sa-rang-eh-ppa-jin-geh-jweh-ga-a-ni-jan-a] "It's not a crime to fall in love". 해녀: [heh-nyeo] traditional Korean women divers. 잠녀: [jam-nyeo] Jeju dialect for "해녀". 배째: [beh-jjeh] "I will never give in"; literally "slit open your belly". 짜증나: [jja-jeung-na] "I'm so annoyed". 삐뚤어지다: [ppi-ddool-eo-jeot-seo] to be bent; to go down the wrong path, in reference to a delinquent person. 제사: [jeh-sa] death ritual.     Audio clips: Brian Tyler - "1883" - "1883 Theme" John Williams - "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny" - "Auction at Hotel L'Atlantique" 김정미 (Kim JungMi) - "봄" (Spring)     Please send any questions, comments or suggestions on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram (@kdramamyeyesout) or e-mail us (kdramamyeyesout(at)gmail.com).   You can become our patron at patreon.com/kdramamyeyesout for as little as $1 per month!     Download this and other episodes and while you're there, write us a review:   Apple Podcasts   Google Podcasts   Spotify   Libsyn RSS   The KDMEO theme music is 'Relaxing Ballad', by Alexander Nakarada (www.creatorchords.com) Licensed under Creative Commons BY Attribution 4.0 License https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/

Robert Winfree, Mark Radulich, Jason Teasley and Cole Marentette present their Transformers One 2024 Movie Review!Transformers One is a 2024 American animated science fiction action film based on Hasbro's Transformers toy line. It was directed by Josh Cooley from a screenplay by Eric Pearson and the writing duo of Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari, based on a story by Barrer and Ferrari. The ensemble voice cast includes Chris Hemsworth, Brian Tyree Henry, Scarlett Johansson, Keegan-Michael Key, Steve Buscemi, Laurence Fishburne, and Jon Hamm. It is set on Cybertron, the home planet of the Transformers and depicts the origins and early relationship of Optimus Prime and Megatron. In March 2015, following the release of Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014), Paramount Pictures tasked Akiva Goldsman to set up a writers' room to create ideas for potential future Transformers films. By May 2015, Barrer and Ferrari had signed on as writers, and they came up with the idea of an animated prequel set on Cybertron. The film was announced in August 2017, and by April 2020, Cooley had been hired to direct. Animation services were provided by Industrial Light & Magic, and the design was primarily influenced by Generation 1 and Art Deco. The score was composed by Brian Tyler.Transformers One premiered in Sydney, Australia on September 11, 2024, and was released by Paramount Pictures in the United States on September 20. The film has grossed $38.6 million worldwide and received largely positive reviews from critics, who praised the story, humor, action sequences, animation and voice performances.Disclaimer: The following may contain offensive language, adult humor, and/or content that some viewers may find offensive – The views and opinions expressed by any one speaker does not explicitly or necessarily reflect or represent those of Mark Radulich or W2M Network.Mark Radulich and his wacky podcast on all the things:https://linktr.ee/markkind76alsohttps://www.teepublic.com/user/radulich-in-broadcasting-networkFB Messenger: Mark Radulich LCSWTiktok: @markradulichtwitter: @MarkRadulichInstagram: markkind76RIBN Album Playlist: https://suno.com/playlist/91d704c9-d1ea-45a0-9ffe-5069497bad59

This episode's origin comes from my time recovering from gallbladder surgery last month. I was looking for something to watch when I saw Richard Donner's TIMELINE on my Plex server. I hadn't watched the film in over 20 years... 20 YEARS?!?!?!?!... and so I thought I'd put it on to see if it was as bad as I remembered. It wasn't all that bad, but Brian Tyler's score really irritated me. So, after watching the film, I listened to both Tyler's replacement score and Jerry Goldsmith's rejected score and decided to write some notes. Well, you know me; I ended up writing about 700 words. For a brief moment, I thought about resurrecting my blog, but I hate sharing my writing, so I decided to turn it into a podcast episode. As I continued to write, one thing led to another, and before I knew it, my script was 2814 words long. In addition to writing about TIMELINE, I also wrote about action music, which led me to write about action cues that subverted the norm using two examples by Michael Giacchino (STAR TREK and MEDAL OF HONOR: FRONTLINE). Then I remembered an interview from the early 80s where Jerry Goldsmith talked about the function of film music and writing a specific action cue for the 1971 film, WILD ROVERS. So, I wrote about that. I then remembered to write about my experience at TriCon 2024 here in Kitchener last winter and discuss my newfound appreciation of Graham Revell's THE CROW. I then concluded with a birthday shout-out to David Shire, who turned 87 on July 3rd, the day of this recording. So, after finishing my FAVOURITE SCORES OF 2023 episodes, I recorded and edited this new episode, which I'm happy to share with you today. I really enjoyed the entire process of producing this episode. I liked having the opportunity to inform and educate by using specific examples instead of just doing what I've been doing over the past, however long it's been. This type of show feels more like what I do on Randy Andrew's THE ESSENTIAL SOUNDTRACKS (aka SOUNDTRACK ALLEY) than a traditional CSR episode. Anyway, let me know what you think. Also, the name is temporary. I had no idea what to call what I was doing so I just called it SOUNDTRACK POTPOURRI, which is so NPR lame. The film opens with a vulnerable Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) grappling with the aftermath of the events in "The Avengers." Haunted by anxiety and insomnia, Stark finds solace in his workshop, where he obsessively builds an array of Iron Man suits. However, the narrative takes an unexpected turn when a mysterious terrorist known as the Mandarin (Ben Kingsley) emerges, orchestrating a series of devastating attacks on the United States. Stark's world unravels as his home is destroyed, and he is presumed dead. Stranded in a remote location with a malfunctioning suit, Stark must rely on his ingenuity to survive."Iron Man 3" explores themes of identity and resilience as Stark confronts his own vulnerabilities without the protective shell of his suits; confronting the man behind the armor, stripping away the layers to reveal the core of Tony Stark. Downey delivers a nuanced performance, balancing the charisma and wit that define Stark with a newfound vulnerability that adds depth to the character.

Marrying into the wealthy Le Domas family, one-time foster child Grace thinks she's going to have it all: a handsome, loving husband in Alex, all the amenities she desires (thanks to the Le Domas gaming fortune), and of course, a loving extended family.  But, as one character says, the rich really are different.  Not only does the family welcome Grace with open arms, they also invite her to  a certain ritual designed for all new members of the family.  It's just a formality, part of a deal struck many years ago with a certain Mr. Le Bail.  You see, if the Le Domas family doesn't hold up their end of the deal, a horrible fate awaits them.  Maybe.  It all comes down to one card, and what's printed on that card, and whether Grace draws it or not.  Because if she does, terrible events will ensue, and the life she envisioned for herself might just explode before her eyes. #fastandfurious #fastx #vindiesel Fast X (also known as Fast & Furious 10) is a 2023 American action film directed by Louis Leterrier from a screenplay written by Dan Mazeau and Justin Lin, who also co-wrote the story with Zach Dean. It is the sequel to F9 (2021), the tenth main installment, and the eleventh installment overall in the Fast & Furious franchise. It stars Vin Diesel as Dominic Toretto alongside an ensemble cast including Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Christopher "Ludacris" Bridges, John Cena, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jordana Brewster, Sung Kang, Scott Eastwood, Daniela Melchior, Alan Ritchson, Helen Mirren, Brie Larson, Rita Moreno, Jason Statham, Jason Momoa, and Charlize Theron. In the film, Toretto must protect his family from Dante Reyes (Momoa), who seeks revenge for his father's death and loss of his family's fortune. With a tenth film planned since 2014, and a two-part finale planned since October 2020, Lin was confirmed to return to direct with the main cast attached. The film's official title was revealed when principal photography began in April 2022. Lin left as director later that month, citing creative differences, though he retained writing and producing credits. Leterrier was then hired as his replacement a week later, and performed several uncredited rewrites to the screenplay. Longtime franchise composer Brian Tyler returned to score the film. With an estimated production budget of $340 million, it is the eighth-most expensive film ever made. Filming lasted until that August, taking place in London, Rome, Turin, Lisbon and Los Angeles. The film received mixed reviews from critics, who praised Momoa's performance but criticized the writing. Fast X has grossed $367 million worldwide, becoming the seventh-highest grossing film of 2023. Its sequel is scheduled to be released in 2025, while a twelfth and final film is in development. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/popcorn-junkies/message

Brian is fresh off the back of scoring the global smash hit The Super Mario Bros. Movie, and we spend the bulk of our conversation discussing his score and experience. This ranges from Brian's lifelong fandom of Mario games (as a kid he'd cut out articles about Mario composer Koji Kondo and game designer Shigeru Miyamoto from magazines), the surreal experience of working with Kondo and Miyamoto, and filling the score with homages to the many iconic themes and motifs that fill the Mario universe. On the way he even spends a few minutes talking about his score for the upcoming Fast X, with his face and voice filling with excitement when he discusses his theme for Jason Momoa's new character.   You can find out more about Brian on his website. Mushroom Kingdom, heeere we come!Today we're joined by a bestie of the pod, our theme song composer Connor Marsh, to discuss the long-awaited Super Mario Bros. Movie! And speaking of long-awaited Nintendo things: mere hours before we recorded this episode, the final pre-release trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom dropped, so we get into that first! We were arguably more excited for that than the Mario movie which was, in our collective opinion, fine! A perfectly passable and fun kid's film chock full of easter eggs for longtime Mario fans that will make a sh*t-ton of money &  open up the door to endless possibilities of (hopefully more narratively-compelling) sequels and spin-offs. But the film had a few great moments and a couple of stellar performances, so we're giving out (fire) flowers where they're due.(Plus the made Bowser & Donkey Kong sooooo unbelievably hot, so we of course also have that to get into). Also! some brief thoughts on Final Fantasy XVI, then later in the show, we're gay for Resident Evil 4 Remake and Octopath Traveler 2!========Get in touch with us!EMAIL US at gayforplaypodcast@gmail.comFOLLOW G4P Twitter: @GayForPlayPodInstagram: @GayForPlayPodTwitch: twitch.tv/gayforplaypodSupport the Show & Unlock Bonus Episodes on our PATREON========CREDITSIntro and outro music by Connor Marsh (@connorjmarshmallow)Show art by Benny Kessler (@retro.spectacle.studio)Special thanks to our patrons: Blueberri Mary, Elijah Punzal,  Trevor McTavish, Travis Ryans & Martha Turner

My goal is to identify the themes, motifs, instrumentation and approach applied by composer Alan Silvestri (BACK TO THE FUTURE, MOUSE HUNT, THE AVENGERS) to PREDATOR (1987) & PREDATOR 2 (1990) and how this symphonic model was subsequently interpreted in the sequels and spin-offs (or not). Feliz escucha

Breton Vivian is an English-Australian composer known for his scores to Yellowstone (with Brian Tyler) as well as the recent miniseries 1883. We talk about how working at Brian's studio (and helping him move it) helped Breton come into his own as a composer. Plus, the different ways themes, unique solo instruments, and orchestra can play together in western-inspired score. He also talk about his entry into film scores (growing disillusioned with the UK band scene) and how there's no substitute for taking lots of meetings with potential creative collaborators. Interview by Matt Schrader on MORE SCORE.
