Pastor Grant Van Leuven was the guest preacher for the afternoon chapel service at Fredericka Manor Retirement Community in Chula Vista. His three oldest boys joined him and stood to honor the elderly saints ministered to with one of the Bible verses read ( Leviticus 19:32). Psalm 71:18 teaches that the heart of a Christian late in life is to desire to still be actively useful to the Lord with a lasting spiritual legacy. May Your Last Years Be Your Best Years.

Ragatha and Gangle got to go to a wonderful tea party in this episode, it’s just a shame Pomni didn’t get to attend as well. On the other hand, she was definitely rewarded with a lot of character growth, so she was rewarded for her suffering (unlike the last episode). 25 Personen im Spital, eine Person tot: Das ist das Ergebnis eines Legionellen-Ausbruchs im Kleinbasel.
Welcome back to the Manor! Welcome to the first of two episodes on Lord Dunsany, Anglo-Irish writer (among other things), who was considered to be one of the founding writers of the fantasy genre. We won't be discussing his role as founding writer or grandfather or anything else. Rather, we're going to get into his possible influences on JRR Tolkien! Their prose and general life outlooks were very similar in some aspects. Does this mean Dunsany influenced Tolkien? That's going to be in the next episode, as technically this is episode two, but you'll see why this one is coming out first when you start listening. Next week's episode is about "The Star Wars." My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is Jennifer E Tirrell, author of the book Jane's Secret. Jennifer E. Tirrell was orphaned by the age of three, and kinship-adopted. She knows what it means to rise from broken roots into a life of purpose. Now a transparent and encouraging writer and speaker, she uses her personal story to connect deeply with others. With boldness and vulnerability, she invites you to merge your roots, purpose, and blessings — to live all-in. Her award-winning Children's Picture Book, Little Sprout says Yes! is based on a real one-horned goat who finds home in the family of God. Book One of Pets to the Rescue, a Cousin Crew Series is available now! Written to promote literacy in children, The Apple Butter Adventure is so fun, your kids will want to read it again and again. Finally, her poignant time-split novel, Jane's Secret debuted in 2026. She is a contributing writer to Focus on the Family, Arise Daily Devotions, Guideposts and more. She is thrilled to have received her crown of white hair and six dear grandchildren to go with it—so far! Jennifer and her husband, Bobby, live life to the fullest in the Coastal Carolinas. In my book review, I stated Jane's Secret is a dual timeline Christian historical fiction by Jennifer E Tirrell. We quickly meet Jane, a wealthy young woman who stands to inherit a house and land once she marries. But her father dies, her stepfather is mean and greedy, and her life takes a different course. I loved her bold personality despite the limitations set on women of the day. We also meet modern Kaitlyn who was given an old key that has been passed down through the generations. This key, she is told, will bless her and her posterity. When she finds a letter that gives her more information about the key, she decides to go to England to investigate. What starts out as curiosity is soon laden with romance, mystery, and potential murder. The romance will keep you smiling. The history will keep you learning. The twists and turns will keep you reading. Definitely add this book to your TBR! This is a Grave Talks CLASSIC EPISODE! PART TWOGraestone Manor Bed and Breakfast stands as a beautifully preserved Victorian home along the Erie Canal in Gasport, New York—but its history may be more alive than its guests realize. From its early beginnings in the 1800s to the many lives that have passed through the property, the manor carries a deep and layered past that refuses to stay quiet.Unexplained voices echo through empty rooms. The sound of horse hooves has been heard where no horses remain. Shadowy figures move through the halls, and a woman is still seen watching from the windows. Some believe there is something even more unusual at work beneath the surface—an energy that seems to draw activity in.For those who live within its walls, the paranormal isn't an occasional experience—it's part of daily life. Wandering Works for Us PodcastDate: 25 July 2026Title: Puddings, Manor Houses, and a Princess Bride Cameo: Our Bakewell StorySummary of EpisodeAfter the busier stretch through the Cotswolds, we slow down for a two-and-a-half-hour drive north to Bakewell — a market town we picked for two reasons: the famous puddings, and Haddon Hall, right next door. In this episode we talk through our stay at the Castle Inn, wander Bakewell's Monday market, and finally settle the Bakewell tart vs. Bakewell pudding debate (there's a clear winner). Then we take you room by room through Haddon Hall — a nine-hundred-plus-year-old manor house still owned and lived in by the same family, and still standing largely untouched since before the Victorian era. Expect Great Hall table gouges, dry frescoes, a Princess Bride cameo, and a very good pudding-and-beer pairing.Episode HighlightsBakewell Town[01:00] Why we chose Bakewell: the puddings, and Haddon Hall being right on our route north toward Edinburgh[02:20] Staying at the Castle Inn, a Greene King Inn — rustic, a little basic, but quiet even right next to the pub[04:50] The Monday market: more flea market than food market — think tools, clothes, and plants, with a history stretching back generations[06:07] The real dessert debate: there are three versions of the Bakewell classic, and the pudding (not the iced tart) is the one to seek out. Find them at the Bakewell Pudding Parlour[07:53] A fun moment on Instagram: a follower in the US wishing she could try one, and the shop chiming in to say they'll mail it anywhere[09:00] An evening walk through quiet streets and a proper sunset once the shops rolled up for the night[10:00] The River Wye walk: a genuine Roman bridge, and swans and geese that'll come looking for breadHaddon Hall[11:00] Nine hundred-plus years old, still home to Lord Edward Manners — whose brother, the Duke of Rutland, lives at the family's other (and better-known) property, Belvoir Castle[12:20] Why it stayed so untouched: the family moved their main residence to Belvoir before the Victorian era and largely closed Haddon Hall up, so it skipped the redecorating most stately homes went through[14:10] The Princess Bride filming locations: the main square and the balustrade where Prince Humperdinck announces the wedding[15:40] Dry frescoes in the chapel, and the very deliberate restoration approach — repairing and reinstalling original stained glass rather than replacing it**Note from Beth: Dry frescoes are done on dry plaster, and wet frescoes are done on wet plaster.[18:08] The Great Hall table, still marked with hundreds of years of knife gouges from feasting[21:50] Fireplace signatures from Princess Anne and a young Prince Charles, long before he was kingNo real gift shop — but don't skip the cream teaImportant Links To follow all of our antics and adventures, please visit our social media pages and our website at wwforus.com! And as the activity continues, one question lingers: are these spirits simply echoes of the past… or are they aware of the living who now call Graestone Manor home?#TheGraveTalks #GraestoneManor #HauntedBedAndBreakfast #HauntedNewYork #ErieCanalGhosts #ParanormalPodcast #GhostStories #HauntedHistory #PsychicMedium #SpiritsAmongUsLove real ghost stories? Originally built as a mansion in 1897 before becoming a funeral home in the 1920s, Mortuary Manor remains much as it was when it served Toledo families for generations. Today, visitors can tour the funeral museum housed within the building, exploring chapels, embalming rooms, a body elevator, and historic funeral artifacts that offer a rare look inside a profession most people never get to see. Since opening its doors to paranormal investigators, the building has become the site of reports involving unexplained voices, equipment activating on its own, moving objects, and other unusual experiences. Could those encounters be connected to the people who once lived—or died—within the building's walls? Or has more than a century of grief, remembrance, and final farewells left its own imprint on the property? Today on The Grave Talks, we explore the history of Mortuary Manor, the funeral museum housed within its walls, the documented history of the property, and the experiences that continue to draw investigators and visitors alike with co-owner and operations manager Cory Leibenguth. #MortuaryManor #TheGraveTalks #HauntedOhio #Paranormal #FuneralMuseum #HauntedHistory #GhostInvestigation #HistoricLocations #HauntedPlaces #ParanormalPodcast Love real ghost stories? The English country house has been on the brink of ruination since at least the start of World War I—or perhaps the first chug of the Industrial Revolution—or was it the end of serfdom …? Propping up this dying, decadent institution has been a favored pastime of preservationists, architecture buffs, and earls for about as long as the institution has been around. In his new book, Noble Ambitions, historian Adrian Tinniswood peels back the wallpaper to show how these ancestral piles survived both World War II and the sunset of the British Empire—and in some ways, are more relevant than they ever were. Randy Spelling steps Behind The Rope. Yes THAT Randy Spelling. Randy talks about what it was like growing up at Spelling Manor, the house with its own Wikipedia page. We discuss Mom Candy Spelling's glamorous parties, the infamous gift wrapping room, the whose who of Hollywood who flowed through there, and how Randy felt when the Manor was sold in 2011. We discuss what it was like to grow up with Aaron Spelling as a Dad and what the legacy of such shows like “ Melrose Place”, “Charmed”, “Charlie's Angels”, “Dynasty”, “The Love Boat” and “Heart to Heart” means to him. We also discuss what is was like to be a high school student at the same time that 90210 exploded. Speaking of 90210, we discuss it all - Shannen, Jason, Brian, Ian, Gabrielle, Jenni and Tori. Randy also opens up about what it was like to be caught in the middle of certain family dramas and it what it was like to have those played out in the media. On a larger note, we discuss topics such as the importance and value society improperly places on having versus not having money, the addiction of fame, why the media is so obsessed with “The Spellings” and some of the biggest misconceptions about himself, Tori and the rest of the family. I love talking about preparation, because there's a way in which being in preparation mode is exhilarating. In the verse we read, 'prayāṇa-kāle manasācalena bhakti-yuktō yoga-balena caiva'—Kṛṣṇa says you have to have some kind of yoga-balena, some spiritual strength, and that, He says, comes from practicing some kind of yoga. Saṭ-cakra-yoga is indicated here, but He recommends bhakti-yoga, one should be prepared. And as far as cultivating Kṛṣṇa consciousness, preparation for going back to Godhead and goals are not mutually exclusive. Saṅkhyā-pūrvaka-nāma-gāna-naṭibhiḥ kālāvasānī-kṛtau. Śrīnivāsa Ācārya writes in his song about the six Gosvāmīs of Vṛndāvana: they very deliberately counted everything. Saṅkhyā-pūrvaka means "numerical strength," goes with Yoga-balena (spiritual strength). Spiritual strength comes with numerical strength. Therefore, one may consider that by keeping strict sādhanā—keeping the numbers steady or increasing them, one can measure how one is doing. One's steadiness in keeping the numbers is indicative of how one is preparing oneself, so the two things go together. Be in preparation mode always. It's like sometimes people talk about preparing for giving a class or speaking extemporaneously, but the way I see it, we should be constantly preparing so that it's quite natural—we're already in conversation about the subject matters that we might be discussing in a larger group or in a class. That's kind of preparation mode. And that goes for all the different kinds of practices that we have. When we worship Tulasī-devī, you can consider the way in which we approach her with a sense of joy and also appreciation and reverence for who she is; it is aligning us with the mood of the spiritual world. That's a preparation also, we should always be in that mode.
