Raising Expectations with Pastor Joe Schofield, Stefanie and Dr Craig Thayer, Dr Paul Hall, and Ron Greer Faith, Freedom, and America's Heritage: The Star-Spangled Banner, Biblical Values, and Civic Action Guest, Denice Gary-Pandol, Faith Former United States Senatorial Candidate Friends, If you love America and believe Americans must turn to God with faith (Matthew 19:26) to become responsible, knowledgeable citizens… you must read below the words of our dear friend, former U.S. Senatorial candidate Denice Gary-Pandol! “Across America, primaries are underway. The challenge before Republicans is not merely to energize the faithful, but to awaken the millions of Americans who have stopped voting because they no longer believe their voice matters. The winning message is clear: America can still be restored — but only if ordinary citizens rise before decline becomes irreversible. America's blessings and prosperity cannot be separated from the practice of God's principles, which are found in our Judeo-Christian beliefs. Benjamin Franklin wrote: Without His concurring aid . . . we ourselves shall become a reproach and a byword down to future ages." Our Founders understood that America must embrace and honor God. As our nation approaches its 250th Anniversary, we should remember that America was forged by men and women who risked not only their lives, but everything for liberty, self-government, limited government, opportunity, and the God-given rights of free people. People follow movements that believe in their country. Americans have some good leaders who speak with moral confidence about faith, family, freedom, national strength, secure borders, economic opportunity, and the dignity of productive work — not as relics of the past, but as the foundations of the greatest republic in human history. America must remain a nation of liberty and self-government — or continue down the path of economic decline, bureaucratic control, and national weakness. The voters who stopped participating must be reminded that their vote still matters, their country is still worth fighting for, and America's best days can still lie ahead.” My best regards, Denice Gary-Pandol Former United States Senatorial Candidate 661.747.1829 Raising Expectations Through Christian Faith and National Reflection In this episode of Raising Expectations, host Joe Schofield is joined by his wife and co-host Melba, along with co-host Dr. Paul Hall. Joe opens by identifying the program as a Christian show focused on what God is doing in people's lives and in the world. He emphasizes belief in Jesus Christ, gratitude for the United States, and anticipation of America's 250th anniversary. Joe then welcomes returning guest Denice Gary-Pandol, introducing her as a popular guest prepared to discuss national events, faith, public policy, and developments affecting the country and the Middle East. Francis Scott Key and the Faith Behind the National Anthem Denice begins by discussing remarks she recently delivered at a One Nation Under God event in California's Central Valley. Her subject was The Star-Spangled Banner and the Christian faith of its writer, Francis Scott Key. She describes Key as a deeply religious man, husband, father of eleven children, lawyer, hymn lyricist, and supporter of Sunday school education. Denice emphasizes that the national anthem contains four verses, focusing especially on the fourth verse and its references to God's power, national preservation, justice, and the phrase “In God is our trust.” She presents Key's words as evidence that faith in God was central to his understanding of America's survival and freedom. Fort McHenry, the War of 1812, and Divine Protection Denice retells the circumstances surrounding Key's writing of the anthem during the War of 1812. She explains that President James Madison sent Key to help negotiate the release of American prisoners, including Dr. William Beanes, and that Key remained aboard a British vessel during the attack on Fort McHenry. She describes the British bombardment, the presence of civilians within the fort, and the survival of the American flag through the night. Denice interprets the fort's endurance, including accounts of rain extinguishing bomb fuses, as possible evidence of God's protection over the country. For her, Key's response at dawn reflected gratitude that America had endured the attack. Founding Principles, Scripture, and the Ten Commandments The conversation broadens into Denice's view of America's religious foundation. Referring to quotations she attributes to early American leaders, including John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, Samuel Adams, James Wilson, and Benjamin Franklin, she argues that the founders regarded biblical principles as essential to a moral and free society. She calls for the Ten Commandments to be restored in American schools, saying they teach children the moral foundations needed for civilized conduct. Denice also speaks at length about the Jewish people, describing them as central to biblical history and strongly supporting Israel, while criticizing antisemitism, Islamic extremism, and what she sees as failures within modern education and politics. Calling Listeners to Political Action Denice urges listeners to contact elected officials and the president's comment line about specific issues. She promotes passage of H.R. 22, which she identifies as the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act, or SAVE Act, describing it as requiring proof of citizenship and photo identification for voting in federal elections. She encourages listeners to call their senators, including Senate Majority Leader John Thune, and to press California senators Alex Padilla and Adam Schiff to support the legislation. Denice also promotes the Unlock American Energy Jobs Act of 2026, which she says would increase American oil, gas, liquefied natural gas, and nuclear energy production and strengthen United States influence abroad. California Holidays, Prayer, and Returning the Nation to God In the final portion, Denice criticizes a California bill she identifies as AB 2017, which she says would establish two Muslim observances as state holidays. She contrasts this proposal with the absence of comparable recognition for Jewish holidays and argues that California and the nation should honor Judeo-Christian history and values. Joe and Paul affirm her broader appeal for moral clarity, civic engagement, and prayer. The episode closes with Paul praying for Denice, the nation, and the show's audience, while Joe encourages listeners to make calls, pray for leaders and families, support the program, and remember that God loves them.

It's Friday, April 24th, A.D. 2026. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 140 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus Ugandan evangelist stabbed to death by Muslims Suspected Muslim extremists, posing as taxi drivers on April 9th, killed a Christian evangelist in central Uganda, Africa shortly after he preached at a Gospel event, reports Morning Star News. They beat and stabbed Alfred Kitenga at about 9:30 p.m. along the Northern Bypass in the Wakiso District, after he and his wife, Anna Grace, were returning home from preaching in Kampala, the Ugandan capital. One local church leader said, “This is a painful loss for the body of Christ.” In John 15:19, Jesus said, "If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you." Iran says first Strait of Hormuz toll revenues banked Hamidreza Hajibabaei, the deputy speaker of Iran's parliament, claimed that Iran, not the United States, was now making demands after the first revenues for newly implemented tolls on shipping through the Strait of Hormuz were deposited into Iran's central bank, reports MSN. During a public gathering in the western city of Kuhdasht, ABC News reported that he said, "We have control over this Strait. If the United States continues on its current course, no vessels will pass through the Strait of Hormuz. We are not engaged in negotiations -- rather, we are making demands." The Strait of Hormuz, which serves as a vital waterway for trade along the Persian Gulf, is responsible for an estimated 20% of the world's oil supply traveling through. The blockade has led to soaring gas prices in the United States as the price of oil surpassed $100 per barrel multiple times. Trump orders U.S. Navy to shoot and kill any boat placing mines On Thursday, President Donald Trump ordered the U.S. military to “shoot and kill” any boat caught putting mines in the Strait of Hormuz, as his administration ramps up mine-clearing efforts in the critical waterway, reports TheHill.com. He added, “Additionally, our mine ‘sweepers' are clearing the Strait right now. I am hereby ordering that activity to continue, but at a tripled-up level!” Trump retrieves 10-year-old child from Cuba in transgender drama The Trump administration took the unusual step this week of sending a government plane to Cuba to return a 10-year-old boy from Utah who is at the center of a complicated and contentious custody fight involving the child's gender identity, reports NBC News. The boy's 42-year-old father, Mr. Ethington, who is pretending to be a woman himself, is accused of taking his son to Cuba without the permission from the biological mother, with whom he has shared custody. Federal and state authorities sought the return of the boy after a family member expressed concern that Mr. Ethington went to Havana, Cuba to get gender transition surgery for the boy. Mr. Ethington was arrested along with his 32-year-old partner, Blue, and charged in the U.S. with international parental kidnapping. The couple traveled with the boy to Canada, ostensibly for a camping trip in late March with Blue's 3-year-old child. However, the two adults deviously turned off their phones, after telling the older child's mother they'd arrived in Canada. Then, they flew from Vancouver to Mexico and then to Cuba on April 1. Navy secretary fired after feud over Trump's ‘Golden Fleet' with Pentagon leaders Secretary of the Navy John Phelan was fired on April 22nd after months of feuding with his Pentagon bosses, particularly over his handling of President Trump's “Golden Fleet” shipbuilding initiative, reports the New York Post. Tensions among Phelan, War Secretary Pete Hegseth and Deputy War Secretary Stephen Feinberg had been simmering for months. According to one GOP source, Phelan's leadership style was “incongruent” with Hegseth and Feinberg. The source said, “The administration really wanted to accelerate the shipbuilding program because of the president's agenda … and the secretary seemed incapable of accomplishing those goals, and he wasn't well-liked. When you combine incompetence with arrogance, it usually doesn't end well.” Deputy War Secretary Feinberg had been gradually diverting responsibility for the major project away from Phelan, the New York Times reported.  Hung Cao, the Naval undersecretary, is now set to replace him. Virginia voters gave 10 of 11 Congressional seats to Democrats On Tuesday, the Virginia Democrat officials successfully convinced voters to narrowly approve a constitutionally questionable redistricting push to give 10 out of the 11 U.S. congressional seats to the Democrats, a change that one judge ruled to be unconstitutional, reports ABC News. The Democrats had previously held 6 Congressional seats in Virginia. Florida's possible redistricting could help ensure more GOP seats In light of the Virginia election, the red state of Florida is now in the spotlight, reports JustTheNews. In the Sunshine State, Republican Governor Ron DeSantis is spearheading an effort to redraw their state's congressional districts before the midterm elections. That would help to ensure the Republicans could retain their majority in the House, and can fully implement President Trump's agenda. Another medical emergency uncovered at Colorado Planned Parenthood Yet another medical emergency was spotted this month at a Colorado Planned Parenthood abortion mill with a checkered history on patient safety, reports LifeSiteNews.com. Operation Rescue reported that an ambulance was spotted on April 10 arriving at the Fort Collins Planned Parenthood. The EMS radio dispatch revealed that a 19-year-old woman came in a day after her abortion complaining of chest pains. The EMS' use of the code “Charlie Medical” indicated fears that the situation was potentially life-threatening. Abortion mills across the country are regularly flagged for harming mothers through botched abortions, unsanitary tools and environments, and lack of regulatory protections such as requirements for staff to secure admitting privileges at nearby hospitals in the event of complications. The birth of the “In God We Trust” motto And finally, on April 22nd,1864, the motto "In God We Trust," which was conceived during the American Civil War, first appeared on American coinage. By a joint resolution of Congress, it was adopted as our national motto in 1956, replacing the previous one: “Out of many, one.” In 1814, Francis Scott Key wrote the Star Spangled Banner, including this seldom heard fourth verse, which references the importance of trusting God as a nation. Listen. “O thus be it ever when freemen shall stand Between their lov'd home and the war's desolation! Blest with vict'ry and peace may the Heav'n rescued land Praise the Power that hath made and preserv'd us a nation! Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just, And this be our motto - "In God is our trust," And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave” (applause and cheers) Psalm 33:12 says, "Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people He chose for His inheritance."

Together, they've launched Old Irish Guys Financial, a venture built on the idea that sound financial advice should be as accessible as a conversation with a neighbor. The journey to this partnership began in the world of institutional finance. Brendan's roots go back to the "late 1900s" at Leg Mason before he transitioned to the independent side with LPL Financial. Meanwhile, John's career kicked off at State Street Bank, where he managed public pension funds before eventually serving as the Director of Development for the Baltimore Family Alliance. After years of navigating the complexities of large-scale finance, they've "hung up their own shingle" to focus on what matters most: providing neighbor-to-neighbor coaching right here on the peninsula. While both John and Brendan are Boston natives, they've found their true home in South Baltimore. They discuss the "hooks" that kept them here, choosing to raise their families in the heart of the city rather than retreating to the suburbs. Their commitment is visible in their support for local institutions like Francis Scott Key and Federal Hill Prep, proving that families don't have to move once their kids hit third grade. From volunteering at local sports to advocating for walkable turf fields, they are proof that community involvement and city living go hand-in-hand.Net Worth & ChillThis philosophy of accessible advice extends to their new podcast, The Penny and the Pint. They've coined the phrase "Net Worth and Chill" to help couples navigate the often-stressful conversations surrounding money and significant others. October 19, 1814. An eager audience files into the Holliday Street Theater in Baltimore, about to see a debut performance, described as a “much-admired new song.” The composer of this song, Francis Scott Key, had written the lyrics during a recent battle in Baltimore, trapped on a British ship as he watched the rockets red glare from afar. Key wasn't a professional songwriter – a prominent lawyer in Washington D.C., he specialized in cases related to slavery, both defending enslaved people and slave catchers. But his real legacy became this song, entitled “The Star-Spangled Banner.” How did Key come to watch the Battle of Baltimore play out from the deck of an enemy ship? And how did his relationship with race and slavery shape the song we now call our national anthem? Special thanks to authors Marc Leepson and Tim Grove for sharing their voices and expertise for this episode. ** This episode originally aired October 19, 2020. -- Get in touch: historythisweekpodcast@history.com  Follow on Instagram: @historythisweek Follow on Facebook: HISTORY This Week Podcast To stay updated: http://historythisweekpodcast.com To learn more about listener data and our privacy practices visit: https://www.audacyinc.com/privacy-policy Learn more about your ad choices. Join America's Roundtable (https://americasrt.com/) radio co-hosts Natasha Srdoc and Joel Anand Samy with the Honorable Benjamin S. Carson, Sr. M.D., one of America's most principled leaders, a brilliant mind, and a champion of freedom. Dr. Ben Carson is the founder and chairman of the American Cornerstone Institute, the 17th U.S. Secretary of the Department of Housing and Development, and former director of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital. The conversation focuses on: * Domestic and foreign policy initiatives with a review on the successes of the second Trump Administration. * The importance of faith, family and patriotism in protecting our freedoms in America. * The ills of marxism and socialism and their manifestation in America. * Expanding homeownership and reigniting the American Dream. * Affirming Israel's sovereignty and protecting Jewish communities in the West. Our conversation also highlights Dr. Ben Carson's must-read book "The Perilous Fight: Overcoming Our Culture's War on the American Family." Quote from Dr. Ben Carson's book, "The Perilous Fight": "The perilous fight" was penned by Francis Scott Key in the midst of a most difficult and pivotal moment in our nation's history when twenty British ships bombarded Fort McHenry from the Baltimore Harbor. It was on the morning of September 14, 1814 that Francis Scott Key wrote about the ramparts, and the land of the free and the home of the brave which inspired a nation and became a rallying victory call. “The perilous fight—those words arrest my attention whenever I place my right hand over my heart and face the flag at the playing of our national anthem. They are a reminder that America was born in a crucible of fire. Freedom was not given freely but had to be fought for and defended.” ~ Dr. Ben Carson Biography | Dr. Ben Carson In 1973, Ben Carson graduated from Yale University. He went on to receive his M.D. from the University of Michigan Medical School. At the age of 33, Dr. Carson became the chief of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital, making him the youngest major division director in the hospital's history. This would be among an extensive list of outstanding firsts for Dr. Carson. Dr. Carson's accomplishments have earned him a place in medical history. He performed the first and only successful separation of craniopagus (Siamese) twins joined at the back of the head in 1987. He also performed the first fully successful separation of type-2 vertical craniopagus twins in 1997 in South Africa. In his career, Dr. Carson became a professor of neurosurgery, oncology, plastic surgery, and pediatrics at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, and directed pediatric neurosurgery at the Johns Hopkins Children's Center for over 29 years. In 2016, Dr. Carson accepted the position of Secretary of Housing and Urban Development under the Trump administration. After completing his tenure as the 17th Secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development in 2021, Dr. Carson founded the American Cornerstone Institute. This organization is focused on fighting for the principles that have guided him through life and that make this country great: faith, liberty, community and life. Dr. Carson and his wife, Candy Carson, co-founded the Carson Scholars Fund, which recognizes young people of all backgrounds for exceptional academic and humanitarian accomplishments. The organization has awarded more than 11,000 scholarships and paid out more than $8.9 million in scholarships. The Carson Scholars Fund is currently operating in 50 states and the District of Columbia, and since its founding, has installed more than 270 Ben Carson Reading Rooms around the country. In 2021, Dr. Carson founded the American Cornerstone Institute (ACI), a conservative think tank centered around advancing policies that promote “faith, liberty, community, and life.” Dr. and Mrs. Carson reside in Florida. They are the proud parents of three sons and three daughters-in-law, and blessed grandparents of eight grandchildren. It's Friday, September 19th, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 140 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus Iranian Christian denied a retrial for practicing his faith Mehran Shamloui, an Iranian Christian convert from Islam, has been denied a retrial for his case by the Iranian Supreme Court, reports International Christian Concern.  Shamloui was arrested in 2024 and, in March 2025, was sentenced to 10 years and 8 months in prison simply for participating in a house church. The charges against him included “propaganda activities contrary to Islamic law,” and “membership in groups opposing the state.”  He was released from jail after he posted bail in late 2024. He fled the country and intended to travel to Europe, but was stopped in Turkey. He was deported to Iran in July 2025 because he was missing formal documentation.  Shamloui is currently serving his sentence in Iran's Evin Prison, a notoriously deplorable institution known for mistreating its prisoners, including Christians.  Hebrews 13:3 says, “Continue to remember those in prison as if you were together with them in prison, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering.” Iran is an Islamic Republic and a known persecutor of the Christian community. Bibles written in Farsi, the official language of Iran, are strictly prohibited, as is discussing Jesus with Muslims to share the gospel with them. Hadi Ghaemi, the executive director of The Center for Human Rights in Iran, said, “The Christian community in Iran is facing a crisis. The Iranian authorities are abducting growing numbers of Christians and throwing absurd national security charges at them in order to imprison them for years for doing nothing other than peacefully practicing their faith.” NY Attorney General vs. TX Attorney General over Abortion Kill Pill Far-left Democratic New York Attorney General Letitia James is intervening in Republican Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton's attempt to prosecute an abortionist for mailing abortion kill pills from one state to the other to undermine Texas's pro-life laws, reports LifeSiteNews.com. Paxton first filed his lawsuit in December 2024 against abortionist Margaret Carpenter, founder of the “Abortion Coalition for Telemedicine.”  Paxton alleged that Carpenter “unlawfully provided a Collin County resident with abortion-inducing drugs that ended the life of an unborn child and resulted in serious complications for the mother, who then required medical intervention.” Carpenter is not licensed to practice medicine in Texas. Subsequently, in February 2025, Judge Bryan Gantt of North Texas ordered Carpenter to stop sending abortion kill pills into the state and to pay a $100,000 fine. (Carpenter also faces charges out of Louisiana for the same).  So far, New York officials have protected the abortionist from consequences via the state's shield law, which bars cooperation with other states concerning laws against abortion. Paxton has challenged the shield law and sued the Ulster County, New York clerk who refused to enforce the fine. Americans celebrating Charlie Kirk's assassination held accountable The Secret Service, several U.S. airlines, Office Depot, and Nasdaq said they were among more than 30 employers that have sanctioned or fired employees in reaction to their disturbing statements about the assassination of Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, reports The Washington Post. Regarding the Secret Service, an agent named Anthony Pough wrote on Facebook, “If you are mourning this guy .. delete me,” in reference to Kirk's killing. Pough accused Kirk of spewing “hate and racism on his show.” Roughly three dozen workers are reported to have been suspended or fired over their responses to Kirk's murder, including employees of Clemson University, MSNBC, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, and the Carolina Panthers. Plus, several local fire departments and school districts said they had also suspended or terminated employees over their remarks. WLBT-TV reports that Lauren Stokes, the executive assistant for the Vice Chancellor of Development at the University of Mississippi, was fired for her anti-Kirk comments. She allegedly wrote, “For decades, yt [white] supremacist and reimagined Klan members like Kirk have wreaked havoc on our communities, condemning children and the populace at large to mass death for the sake of keeping their automatic guns. … So no, I have no prayers to offer Kirk or respectable statements against violence.” WNDU reports that 18-year-old Camryn Giselle Booker, a college student at Texas Tech, was expelled after a video of her publicly celebrating Charlie Kirk's death went viral.  In the video, she is jumping around and yelling at students paying tribute to Kirk on the Lubbock, Texas campus. Listen. BOOKER: “Your homie dead. He got shot in the head. Your homie dead. He got shot in the head.” After Booker was expelled, Texas Republican Governor Greg Abbott posted this comment on X. “Definitely picked the wrong school to taunt the death of Charlie Kirk. Thanks Texas Tech!” Felicia Branch, a professor at the University of Arkansas, is on administrative leave over her vile social media post, reports the Arkansas Times. She wrote, “No, I will not pull back from CELEBRATING that an evil man died by the method he chose to embrace.  Don't tell someone who has been targeted by people like him how to feel, how not to post, how not to celebrate, that he can no longer inflict his brand of evil.” She added that Kirk is “an evil person [who] is no longer on this earth causing immense suffering.” Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders has called for Professor Felicia Branch to be fired. ABC yanked Jimmy Kimmel over Charlie Kirk comments And yesterday, ABC indefinitely suspended late-night host Jimmy Kimmel for inappropriate comments he made about the assassination of Charlie Kirk, reports Newsbusters.org. Here's the soundbite from Monday night. KIMMEL: “We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid, [Tyler Robinson], who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it.” Conservative talk show host Erik Erikson  called out the leftist comedian. He said, “What Kimmel was doing was participating in the creation of the leftwing talking point that Kirk's assassin was on the right. He did not have to participate. [Kimmel] chose to participate and circulate what was obviously, even on Monday, a lie. On top of that, it was not funny. It was hectoring and cruel.” Erikson reported that the primary reason Kimmel is no longer on the ABC program schedule is because of the influence of Nexstar, a moderately right-leaning group of stations, that controls 32 significant ABC affiliates including New Orleans, Nashville, Syracuse, Albany, and Grand Rapids and Lansing, Michigan. Nexstar decided to stop airing Kimmel's program. Star Spangled Banner's God-honoring fourth verse And finally, on September 14, 1814, Francis Scott Key penned the immortal words of “The Star Spangled Banner.” Key was a Washington attorney sent to the British navy to secure the release of a prisoner during the War of 1812. During his mission, the British bombarded Fort McHenry in Baltimore, Maryland. The sight of the American flag continuing to fly over the fort despite the barrage inspired the verses in the song. Congress officially made it the national anthem over a hundred years later. The opening verse is well known. But the later verses are more obscure. Listen to David Hedrick, a former Marine, sing the last half of verse four. HEDRICK: “Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation! Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just, And this be our motto: “In God is our trust;” And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave O'er the land of the free, and the home of the brave.” (applause) Indeed, Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Friday, September 19th, in the year of our Lord 2025. Follow us on X or subscribe for free by Spotify, Amazon Music, or by iTunes or email to our unique Christian newscast at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus (Adam@TheWorldview.com).

Crimes of the Centuries presents one of Amber's favorite episodes from Season One. Happy holidays everyone! In 1859, two of Washington, D.C.'s highest-profile men were in love with the same woman -- and that love triangle would lead to the broad-daylight shooting of one of them just a stone's throw from the White House. The victim had been the first-born son of Francis Scott Key, author of the lyrics to America's national anthem. And his killer would be the first in the country to argue a defense of temporary insanity. "Crimes of the Centuries" is a podcast from Grab Bag Collab exploring forgotten crimes from times past that made a mark and helped change history. Follow us on Instagram and Twitter: @centuriespod
