For this episode we were joined by Dolo, the founder of luxury streetwear and faith based brand 'BySunmonu'.Despite not coming from a traditional fashion background, Dolo has coupled his 15 year graphic design experience with his love for fashion and the lord to start his own brand which he has been running since 2019. Throughout his journey of running the brand, Dolo has made sure to maintain transparency with his customers, dropping regular blogs about his experiences so far, his honest narrative has endeared many to the brand and allowed us to learn more about him, his motivations and what we can expect from the brand in the future. In a time where the world becomes more secular by the day Dolo still isn't discouraged from illustrating his belief in God through motifs that run throughout his collections. Biblical phrases such as 'Against the grain' and 'Jesus Christ saves lives' are phrases that he prominently places on many of his pieces. Throughout the episode Dolo candidly shares what he's learnt on his journey so far and warns other designers not fall down the same pitfalls he did. Despite having only ran the brand for 3 years, Dolo continues to reach new heights, he recently ventured into womenswear with his 'Stargirl singlet' collection and is currently in the process of designing more womenswear clobber! Since recording Dolo has continued to develop the brand through his authentic interactions with his community and his desire to develop as a designer, expect more fire collections from Dolo in the near future! Have you ever been to one of those restaurants where you pay by weight. They are extremely popular in Brazil. However, the question in today’s lesson is whether or not is makes sense to pay for food by weight. Some think it’s convenient and logical, others find it inconvenient and illogical. Either way, we learn some great Portuguese verbs to talk about the self-service restaurants. A: You know what I hate, the restaurants that sell food by the kilo. B: Why don’t you like them? I always thought that the self-serve restaurants are really convenient. A: It’s that the factor that determines my food should be the flavor and not the weight. B: I get it. I have chosen a salad when what I really wanted was lasagna, because lasagna weighs more. A: Exactly, the idea that lasagna weighs more and therefore costs more is just wrong, you know? B: Yes, you could be right. And to tell you the truth, I think that we end up spending more at these by the kilo places too. A: I know, now the only advantage is that these self-service restaurants have a nice variety of different foods. B: Even so, the same variety is also found on the menu.
