B: There are five people in my family: my father, my mother, my brother, my sister and me.

The Song of the Elephant

Today is the song of the elephant. What does the elephant say? מַה גָּדְלוּ מַעֲשֶׂיךָ יְיָ מְאֹד עָמְקוּ מַחְשְׁבֹתֶיךָ: How great are Your deeds, Hashem. Your thoughts are very deep. (Tehilim 92,6) There are two interesting thoughts on the elephant in the Gemara in Berachot . One is in 58B, where it says that an elephant is one of the three animals on which you make a beracha when you see it " Meshane et HaBeriot/God makes strange creatures," So the Torah considers the elephant a strange creature. Additionally, in 56B it says, If you see a elephant in your dream, wonders will happen to you. If you see many elephants in your dream, wonders of wonders will happen to you. So, clearly the Gemara understands that elephants are outstanding creatures. And obviously, it's quite a large, interesting looking animal. It has thick legs, a trunk, a funny looking tail, goofy looking ears... Everything about the elephant is funny looking. On the other hand, it says in Chulin 60 A, that all creatures were created according to their will. That means the elephant, with all its funny looking features, understands that that is exactly what it wanted to be. It chose to be that way. And it says, מַה גָּדְלוּ מַעֲשֶׂיךָ יְיָ God, Your creations are great. ( gadlu can also mean big , because he's big) מְאֹד עָמְקוּ מַחְשְׁבֹתֶיךָ: and the reasons for are very deep. We cant understand it. And this is not just about animals, it's applies to humans as well. Rabbenu Bachye, in Devarim 22, 8 quotes this Gemara and says on it, " All creatures were created according to their will and desire. God told them from when they were created (back in the first six days of creation), all of their concepts , all the events that would happen to them, how long they'd live and how their death will be. Sometimes has v'shalom, a person dies a horrible death. They're aware of that too. And their parnasa/ livelihood and whether it will come easily or with difficulty, whether they make it on their own, or will have to come onto others. And they agreed to it. That is the wondrous lesson of the elephant. Another important lesson comes from a rule we have said many a time, from the Gemara in Shabbat 77 B: There are five instances where we see something large afraid of something small. One of them is that the largest of animals- the elephant- is afraid of the smallest of creatures-the mosquito ! The mosquito is so small that when the Midrash wants to accentuate something small the tide the mosquito, for example, they tell the human being, "If you do the will of God, then we'll say you're the first of creatures, and if you don't do the will of God, we'll say to you, the mosquito came before you." So those are the two extremes- the elephant and the mosquito, and the mosquito scares the elephant! The Sefer Lechem Rav says we see from here that even this little mosquito, as small and minute it is, has the power of an elephant because he can overcome the elephant! All of that is in him. So on that we say on one hand, מַה גָּדְלוּ מַעֲשֶׂיךָ יְיָ look how great and big Your creatures are. But on the other hand, מְאֹד עָמְקוּ מַחְשְׁבֹתֶיךָ look how deep Your thoughts are. Meaning, You created this little mosquito so small but it can disturb the very big elephant. So one explanation is that the elephant is talking about its funny looking features and accepting them, like a caricature I recall, of a funny looking kid that said, "If God created me, I can't be junk." That's the elephant's message- You were created. You liked the way you were created, even though you look goofy, there was a good reason for it. Elephants, throughout history, have done great things. We know the Greeks used elephants in the times of the Hashmona'im . And there was the famous conqueror, Hannibal, who used elephants to cross the Swiss Alps to win a war. Elephants were very necessary and powerful Elephants have a strong place in history, even with their funny looking features. I'd like to add another aspect to the elephant, which I once heard at an Agudah convention, by someone describing what Agudat Yisrael, with all its separate parts, was all about. He gave the mashal of a group of blind men who heard that a strange animal called an elephant had been brought to town, but none of them were aware of its shape and form. Out of curiosity, they decided to inspect it by touch. " Hey, the elephant is a pillar," said the man who felt the leg . " Oh no, it's like a rope," said the man who touched the tail. " No, no, it's like a thick branch," claimed the third, who felt the trunk of the elephant. " It's like a big fan, " called the fourth man, who touched the ear. " It's like a huge wall," said the fifth man, who touched the belly of the elephant. " It's like a solid pipe," said the sixth man, who touched the tusk of the elephant. So, what is the elephant? There's a lot going on inside of an elephant and it's hard to figure it out. And that's why, on the elephant we say, מַה גָּדְלוּ מַעֲשֶׂיךָ יְיָ מְאֹד עָמְקוּ מַחְשְׁבֹתֶיךָ: How great are Your deeds? They're very deep Your thoughts. What's going on? What is it exactly? What is the beautiful song of the elephant. מַה גָּדְלוּ מַעֲשֶׂיךָ יְיָ מְאֹד עָמְקוּ מַחְשְׁבֹתֶיךָ: How beautiful!

Week 5 – What are Heaven & Hell Like

What happens to you when you die?  Where do you go?  What is heaven like?  What is hell like?  Are ghosts real?  Do we become angels?  This week, we look at these questions and more as we continue to talk about the afterlife.  Today's sermon has a TON of notes, you can download a handy notes file here:  http://harmonychurch.cc/uploads/10-31-21%20-%20sermon%20notes.pdf When you give at Harmony, you are investing in life change and are Advancing the Kingdom!  GIVE TODAY, text any amount to (859) 459-0316  to get started (or give online @ my.harmonychurch.cc/give . ------------------- Sermon Notes Slide Key: Sermons always start with “OPENING ILLUSTRATION:” and end with “CLOSING ILLUSTRATION:"All scriptures are NIV unless otherwise notedBold = Slide textBold Red = Scriptures (please reflect formatting of scripture on slides, i.e. - underlines, italics, etc.)“b" or “B” on a line by itself = Slide break/New slideBold ALL CAPS WORDS = heading to be ignored[some text] = programming notes to be paid attention to OPENING ILLUSTRATION: Did any of you grow up going to haunted houses?  I went almost every year growing up.  There was something about standing in line to get the tar scared out of you.  To come face to face with some of your nightmares is incredibly scary. Today, we are going to talk about the afterlife. Specifically, What happens to us when we die?  Where do we go?  What do we know about the afterlife? The biggest thing I want you to know is that if you are in Christ, nothing we talk about today, should scare you:1 John 4:4You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. At the end of the day, even if what we walk through today, some of it may feel like a horror house, for those of you who are in Christ - you are safe - because he who is in you is greater than the one in the world. So, I want to give you some ground rules 1. I will point out where the bible is clear and specific 2. I will point out when the bible is not clear and leaves room for interpretation 3. I will tell you when something is my opinion So, let's jump into it: What happens to a Christian when they die? -do you become a naked baby that's interested in archery? -are you singing on a cloud with a harp? -do you become an angel? Most Christians believe their eternal resting place will be in heaven (a spiritual reality) - but this is not what the scriptures say: Revelation 21:1 & 3 Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,”[a] for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God's dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. Our final resting place will be a physical reality - similar to our current reality.  It will not be this dry boring place - when you read the descriptions of eternity - the things that we consider precious on earth are used as paving stones… So, when is this new heaven and earth established? there will be a great war - armageddon-all the peoples of the earth will gather to war against God-and the battle is just over…After it, Rev says this… Revelation 20:11-1512 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. 13 The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done. 14 Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. 15 Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire. ILLUSTRATION: Normally when you see someone being convicted of a crime - they pay for what they did, but in Rev 20-the offended is God Himself and when He opens the book of life, all He sees is your name with Jesus' blood covering it-you are forgiven… Those with no relationship with Christ will be cast into the lake of fire Isaiah 66:2424 “And they will go out and look on the dead bodies of those who rebelled against me; the worms that eat them will not die, the fire that burns them will not be quenched, and they will be loathsome to all mankind.” But what happens between now and the judgment? Where do we go? What is that existence like? B for Christians, we go to the spiritual reality that most of us think about when we think about heaven. Philippians 1:21-24 21 For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. 23 But I am hard-pressed from both directions, having the desire to depart and be with Christ, for that is very much better; 24 yet to remain on in the flesh is more necessary for your sake. Paul understood that if he were to die, he would “be with Christ” While Jesus was on the cross, the thieve asked him to remember him, and Jesus said, Luke 23:43 43 And He said to him, “Truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in Paradise.” Paul in 2 Corinthians 5:1-2 & 6-8 For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands. 2 Meanwhile we groan, longing to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling,  6 Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord. 7 For we live by faith, not by sight. 8 We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord. So, in death, the follower of Jesus is not simply unconscious awaiting the judgment.  They are translated into a spiritual reality with Christ. So, just a couple of quick questions: 1.  Do the dead know or care about what is going on here and now? Do dead people watch what goes on here? Revelation 6:9-10 9 When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God and the testimony they had maintained. 10 They called out in a loud voice, “How long, Sovereign Lord, holy and true, until you judge the inhabitants of the earth and avenge our blood?”  The dead martyrs under the altar clearly care about ending the suffering on earth, but it is not clear if they are actively observing it Hebrews 12:1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us Lots of people have connected this passage to saying dead Christians are watching us as a cloud of witnesses-but the cloud of witnesses is clearly describing the faithful in Chapter 11 - those who have run the race before us and cheer us on It is not clear that the cloud of witnesses is meant to be taken that they literally are watching you every moment B We do know that Jesus was watching Stephen as he was killed for his belief in Jesus Acts 7:55-56 55 But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, looked up to heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God. 56 “Look,” he said, “I see heaven open and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God.” Did you notice Jesus stood as he watched Stephen's death? In Luke 15 Jesus tells two parables that say all heaven rejoices when a sinner repents, so do dead Christians pay attention to us?  Maybe, we don't really know. My opinion - as long as it doesn't become an obsession, it's not a “wrong” thing to think someone might be looking down at you. 2.  Will we become angels when we die? This is a misapplication of Mt. 22:29-32  where Jesus says we become LIKE angels in regards to marriage Note: this passage also shows how God is the God of the living, not the dead - He speaks of ancient Jewish superstars as though they are alive So, what happens to those who do not know Christ before the judgment? I'm going to give you a few possibilities: 1.  They go to HadesThe parable in Luke 16 with a rich man and a leprous beggar - Lazarus who both die - the rich man dies and he goes to hades…  the leper goes to Abraham's bosom. -it is possible that those who die who are wicked - those who die apart from the forgiveness of Jesus go to hades, essentially hell. 2.  Their souls roam around in a spiritual wasteland that is dry and arid, searching for bodies to inhabit - this = “Hades” It just got freaky, right? Let me give you a quick argument for this one And let me be clear what I am saying is that the demons the New Testament speaks of are the disembodied souls of wicked people - what we would call a ghost B “But I thought demons were fallen angels?” B There is no biblical evidence for this - the bible speaks of demons and fallen angels separately, but never equate the two. The bible refers to demons as wicked impure or unclean spirits that possessed people and caused either mental or physical ailments and were under the authority of Satan (Beelzebub) Alexander Campbell - the founder of our movement of Christian churches wrote a great article on why we should think of demons as the disembodied souls of the wicked, I'm going to give you the quick version. During the time of Jesus, the popular belief of the Greek/Roman world, the Jewish world, and the first couple centuries of Christian writers was that Demons were the disembodied souls of people - what we would call ghosts-actually, the Romans and Greeks thought of demons as good things - spirits that gave them special wisdom-it is only in the New Testament that we learn they are unclean spirits - meaning not of God When Jesus interacts with and confronts demons - He never corrects the thinking to say, “you've heard demons were dead people, but they are actually angels”.  Instead, He operates within the assumption. With this concept in mind, listen to this passage where Jesus talks about unclean spirits: Matthew 12:43 43 “When an impure spirit comes out of a person, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it. If impure spirits are those of people who are not with Christ, it would mean that those who die without Christ are roaming around in a spiritual desert, their only respite is to possess a human body and gain control over it - they seek out to be in the form that they have known their entire life… this is a terrifying proposition in my mind. Jesus understood how terrifying this whole prospect was Matthew 10:28 Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell. CLOSING ILLUSTRATION: I had some friends years back who opened a haunted house.  It was super good and creepy.  I went through it and the whole time I walked through it, I was making jokes to keep the fear at bay.  I would talk to the people who had jumped out at you.  Told the clown he looked nice, all those kinds of things. It had worked, all the way to getting close to the exit.  We were in a pitch-black hall, and all you could see was this little bit of light showing the way out.  I'm making my jokes and walking, knowing I'm almost out.  When out of nowhere, this ghoulish-looking woman chained to a wall in a pitch-black corner jumps into my face and screams, “Kent!!!!” I'm telling you, I almost lost it!  I screamed like a 4-year-old girl and ran off, leaving everyone behind… I think a lot of you in this room are walking towards a barren wasteland of death and destruction - a hell, that won't be the back room of the bar where everyone is partying, it will be the most terrifying thing you have ever experienced.  And you are just making jokes, “I'll be the one driving the bus to hell…” I'm hoping that today you felt God scream your name and it scared the pee out of you… It is ok to be driven to Jesus out of fear but it's even better when you turn to Him and realize His deep love for you, He wants to be in eternity with YOU!.. It is time for you to turn on your old life and run away from it, leave it all behind… ----------------------

The Kale Letter
Bitcoin to $100k-$250k this year?

The Kale Letter

Play Episode Listen Later Mar 10, 2021 4:45

Hey everyone!Need to make this one brief today because I’m swamped with meetings. But, many of you have likely noticed that Bitcoin is back at $56,000….I can hear all the skeptics now…“What? Wait I thought it was a bubble?”“I thought it was a ponzi scheme, the scam of a century…”“What even is a Bitcoin, does it even EXIST?”I don’t have time for all of that nonsense today so for those of you who have been paying attention I’m just going to lay out what I think is going to happen….1) $100k Bitcoin this year or I’ll eat my shoe(Honestly I think it hits 100k by the end of May…)I seriously think 100k BTC is inevitable this year. A) It only has to double from here (i’ll remind you that it has already gone up more than 14x this year already).B) There is literally a statistical model tracking its price to 99% accuracy. It’s called Stock to Flow. You should probably google it. It calls for a price from 100k-288k this year. I will REITERATE. IT HAS TRACKED THE PRICE TO 99% ACCURACY TO DATE. C) The institutions are coming. Remember “Bitcoin Conference” that Michael Saylor held in early February? Those people haven’t even bought yet. They have to get their boards of directors to all agree, and it takes time. It took TESLA (one of the most innovative companies in the World…) 6-8 weeks to get it done. The 8,000+ corporations who attended are coming, and coming soon. Tic toc.2) Honestly I think Bitcoin hits 250K+ this year. Not joking. If you think I’m crazy you haven’t actually seen a parabola. “What’s a parabola, you ask?”That’s a Parabola. As you can see, even in crazy bull runs like the one we are in, MOST of the gains happen in the PARABOLA, when the price literally goes vertical. This has happened TWICE before, mind you. Twice. Ever heard the term, “history repeats itself?”Oh, and remember that model I talked about above, the one that predicts the price so accurately? That same guy, who will likely win the Nobel prize in Economics for his model btw… also made THIS chart….This is a chart of the two times this has happened before (two shades of Blue). We are the RED. As you can see, this cycle is actually MORE violent than the 2017 cycle, where the price went from 1k-20k.So, saying we are going to hit 250k is honestly pretty conservative of me… dang, who knew Kale could be so bearish on Bitcoin… :)So what should you do?Honestly, I tweeted this yesterday, and it really is true….YOU DON’T HAVE TIME TO UNDERSTAND BITCOIN FULLY IF YOU WANT TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS CYCLE. I’m sorry, you really don’t. At this point you’re going to just have to GET OFF ZERO and buy some, and THEN learn as you go. Or, you can just ignore me and go on with your happy life, that’s okay too. How do you buy?Easy, just click one of these two links…1) https://www.swanbitcoin.com/kale/2) https://blockfi.com/?ref=e9fefa3eI honestly don’t care if you use those links or not, I just trust both of those companies. Once you have some, here are the top 3 resources I recommend to everyone who is trying to understand this.1) BTC001: Bitcoin Common Misconceptions w/ Robert Breedlove (Bitcoin Podcast‪)‬https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/we-study-billionaires-the-investors-podcast-network/id928933489?i=10005001562162) 3) BTC005: Bitcoin & Michael Saylor - A Masterclass in Economic Calculation (Bitcoin Podcast‪)‬https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/we-study-billionaires-the-investors-podcast-network/id928933489?i=1000503270615FAQ:“Bitcoin is so expensive, shouldn’t I buy Etherium or Litecoin or Dogecoin instead?Do whatever you want, I personally think anything other than BTC is a huge gamble and not worth the stress. I don’t have time to explain why, and you don’t have time to learn. Succeed through the power of Quitting today, so let's Quit Quickly!:Dr. Stanley G. Robertson grew up in a project building on the south side of Chicago. He pleaded temporary insanity and joined the Marine Corps; then trained as a lawyer and earned a doctorate in business. Jack Canfield, the creator of Chicken Soup for the Soul, calls Dr. Stan the coolest person he knows; and predicts that Dr. Stan’s new book Quit will be a bestseller. Dr. Stan has come to be known as “the quit doctor” because of his relentless determination to heal the world of the stigma and shame associated with the concept of quitting. He is an author, coach, and speaker. A professional football player quit during halftime. A military commander quit his troops to be with his family. People who quit are often ridiculed and shamed because we are a hyper-performance-based society where “quit” is a dirty word. But without the ability to quit, it is impossible to achieve success. No one knows this better than Dr. Stan. He quit the Marine Corps and earned a law degree, and quit being a thief and earned a doctorate. There are countless situations of everyday individuals who struggle over the decision to quit because of the emotional stigma associated with the concept. But the notion that “winners never quit” is a myth. The truth is that winners quit all the time. Michael Jordan quit baseball and won a 3-peat; Thomas Jefferson quit Great Britain and started America; The Rock quit wrestling and became an action star; Arnold Schwarzenegger quit being an action star and became a governor. Dr. Stan has come to be known as “the quit doctor” because of his relentless determination to heal the world of the stigma and shame associated with the concept of quitting. He is an author, coach, and speaker.   Top 4 Hot Points - Stan's Steps to Q.U.I.T.:Quit Quickly Understand the Negative Emotions Initiate New Goals Transform Your Behavior   [spp-tweet tweet="It's time to Quit quickly to succeed in Health, Business, and in Life with Dr. Stan Robertson! @livethefuel "]   On This Episode You Will Hear:[spp-timestamp time="00:30"] Introduction [spp-timestamp time="10:00"] She said I quit. Okay, so quitting is good. This is the point. Quitting is a good thing. Quitting frees you, it's how we're locked into the cycle. Why should you continue swimming? This is not a priority. This is not at the top of my list, so I'm, pushing it down on the list. [spp-timestamp time="20:00"] My point is that now if she finally gave up the relationship, she gave up the business. She was overweight. She had been fat-shamed and all this stuff, not just by her but in general, others. Then she lost all the weight after she left him for good, to rebuild herself. [spp-timestamp time="30:00"] If you do a lot of things and you quit a lot of things, the more things you quit, the faster you're going to get to where you're trying to go. So people who are okay with quitting, people who are okay with making mistakes, they're going to get there a lot faster than the person who says I can't make this mistake. [spp-timestamp time="40:00"] What are you going to do next? How do you get from point A to point B? There is a process that you go through, there are some steps that you should engage in. There are four steps to help you through this. [spp-timestamp time="50:00"] Those guys recognize that if they are going to be successful, they need to know when to give up something and reposition themselves. Quit if you're doing it because you just don't like the thing and you don't enjoy it anymore. Quit, if you're doing it because you're not good at it. If you're doing it because life circumstances dictate that you do something different, then great, quit. These are all good reasons to give up things. Today on the show I have Travis Bluemling, Chris Parks, and Ross Jennings - collectively they make up the content creation company Three Wheels Co. You may remember Ross from episode #9 when we talked about his journey to travel to every single country in the world playing bag pipes.  I really enjoyed this episode, and here's why. A) because Ross, Chris and Travis are hilarious and we shared a lot of laughs and B) There are a lot of great nuggets - really tangible lessons that are useful for when you're just starting out building an alternative income stream, or when you've been around the block a few times and maybe have a business already.  One of the lessons I thought was important is that you never know who you might end up working with. If you run across someone that captivates you, either online or in real life, think about how you might be able to add value to what they are doing and reach out to them. That's exactly what Travis, Chris and Ross did. Ross decided it was smarter to pool resources as a collective group of travelers and content creators than to do it on his own.  Another interesting aspect, and one that at first glance might seem like a failure or a major set back - is that sometimes shit doesn't work out. The four of us actually recorded this episode a few months ago, and since then Chris, Travis and Ross actually decided Three Wheels Co wasn't working out. They were brave and realistic enough to say - okay there's a few things not working here, I think we should re-stragize and do what's best for each of us. This is really important, and something I can speak to from personal experience. Business relationships are like romantic relationships - sometimes it can be hard to break up. But be honest with yourself and listen to your gut, and usually that's the best course to follow. I have no doubt whatever these guys do, they'll be successful because they have the right perspective. Enjoy! 3:55 - Progress happens on purpose 15:10 - The Forbes Billionaires List 22:24 - Issues with the Market 33:05 - Alimony Laws are Changing   Progress Happens on Purpose The opposite of progress happens without purpose. When you don't have a purpose you're not only going to stay still, you're actually going to go backward. Just like in a pinball machine, that ball just falls wherever it may and bounces off of whatever comes along. You have to ask yourself, do you want to progress in life? Are there specific areas in your life where you want to make some progress? Maybe with your family, your marriage, or with your kids. It's important for you to know there's a definite purpose in your life, something that's bigger than you. When you grab hold of that, you'll find you will begin to make progress towards that purpose.   There are two ways to do nothing. Do nothing. That's the most basic way that is obvious to most of us. Try to do everything. This is the method that sneaks up on us. It's veiled in an attempt to make massive progress but we end up making none. Action: Write down just 1 or 2 things you want to improve in your life right now. Don't overload the list with everything you want to accomplish in your life, just the one thing you can focus on right now. Be specific about the actions you can take to make progress in those areas. That way you can measure your progress. Place of Home - https://www.placeofhope.com/ If you're looking to make a difference in the lives of those who can't fight for themselves, please consider supporting Place of Hope who is rescuing abused and neglected children.   The Forbes List of Billionaires Jeff Bezos - Amazon - $112 B Bill Gates - Microsoft - $90 B Warren Buffett - Berkshire Hathaway - $84 B Bernard Arnault - LVMH - $72 B Mark Zuckerberg - Facebook - $71 B There are now 2,200 billionaires in the world now and 67% of the billionaires on the list are self-made. These are people who did not inherit their wealth. These are people who have created something of value on their own. That's a very encouraging thing for all of us. Those of us who approach life from an entrepreneurial mindset will be the next ones who are going to show up on this list of billionaires. Challenge: What entrepreneurial idea do you have that you can go after? Go for it! 67% of the billionaires on this list did exactly that.   Market Update The big question is whether we're going to see the markets continue to go up in spite of the recent trend downward. We've been in a sustained Bull-run for about 9 years. We know this isn't going to continue forever. One of the challenges the market has today is the political risk it faces 24 hours per day. The news is non-stop and never been more overwhelming in our lives. Because of this, we're in a place where we're going to most likely see the markets start to turn. Remember, in 2009, we started to see something called “Quantitative Easing” which basically was the Federal Reserve printing money to buy Treasury Bonds from the government, which put money into our financial structure. That's what boosted the markets until late 2014. So what should you do with your investments? It's important to now talk with your advisor about specific changes you can make to your portfolio in light of this speculation on the market shifting. It's critical you look at the amount of risk you have in your investments right now because this downturn could be bigger than what we saw in 2008. Now is the time to lock in your gains while the market is high.   Alimony Laws Will Be Changing Starting on January 1st 2019, alimony payments will no longer be tax deductible. It's going to cost a lot more to get divorced starting in January. My suggestion is that couples who are facing marital challenges should look at the financial cost a divorce is going to have and invest that money into quality marital counseling. Challenge: Keep that money that would go to taxes and spend it on counseling. Resource: The Intentional Family on Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/TheIntentionalFamily.net/

Liz Montgomery, Create the Movement: Welcome back to the Create the Movement podcast. I’m Liz Montgomery, and I’m here with Brad Post. Brad Post, Create the Movement: Good morning Liz. How are you? L: I’m good. Today we’re going to talk about one of our favorite topics, and favorite, I think elements of our business for both Brad and I. And that is customer service. And why we do it here, and how we do it, that, I think, sets us apart. B: Yeah. I believe so, too. I think customer service is huge in any company. And that’s something that you and I, and the team around us, has really thrived off of in the past is customer service. And that’s a core part of our business. Is good customer service. Right? L: ‘Good’ customer service! B: Not just customer service, but good customer service. L: Because anyone can say that we have customer service. But they can’t guarantee you what type of service. But for us, yes, good, if not excellent customer service. B: Right. L: We actually like to surpass the standard, or expectation, of what a client thinks they’ll get from a company. B: Yeah. We’ve kind of got four main points we’re going to go over. And I think, like you said, what separates us is, you know, a lot of times, people have had, or businesses have had a website, or had an IT department, or had, you know, somebody doing something for them. And they’ve experienced bad customer service. Right? So, sometimes going into a client, a new potential client, they’ve got pain points, issues that they’ve had with their previous company. “They didn’t listen to me.” Or, “They didn’t, you know, build the site like I wanted.” Or, “They don’t respond to me in a timely manner.” L: And, you know, let’s maybe say a couple of example of bad service. What does bad customer service look like? We’ve all experienced it in different areas. But, you know, in our industry what that looks like is, you know, I just added a - we have a lot of clients that are attorneys. So, they might say, “Hey, we just added a new partner to the firm. We want to make an announcement on our website.” They send that information over to their website provider. And it’s like three or four weeks go by. B: Crickets. L: No response. No confirmation they got the email, you know. And then it’s a month latter and the new partner is like, “Hey, why haven’t you even announced this on the website yet?” Well, their marketing firm didn’t follow through. Or, saying they’ll do it, and not doing it. B: Yep. L: Or, saying that they can do things like – we have a client who was with another company. And they we’re really into writing blogs and articles, and it was just some really great content for their industry – for the practice area that they were in. And they had, they were putting up, you know, three or four blogs per month. Well, their service provide went in and broke the blog and lost all their content. B: Oh, wow. L: And it was like, and this was after layers of just administrative errors that they’ve had. So, it was just a person who just didn’t know what they were doing. You know? B: There’s also those big companies where if you have an issue with your website you sit on hold for 45 minutes. L: Right. B: You know? Before you actually get somebody on the line. I think there’s a lot of big companies out there, where they’ve grown so big, they can’t handle the L: And it’s not built into their business model as something that’s important. B: Right. L: You know? At some point, we might be an even larger company, but we’re never going to lose that as a standard. As one of our core, I guess not really core value, but as one of our – what we lead with. B: Yeah, in the standards. L: In the standards. We want to lead with that because we’ve just seen so many other businesses, yeah, that that drops off after a while. Do we have a contract? Are they paying us every month? Well, who cares if we took care of them every month? You know? B: Right. So, kind of, our firs...

节目名称:Avengers: Age of Ultron节目类型:电影脱口秀PART 1:剧情简介J:When Tony Stark tries to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program, things go awry and Earth&`& s Mightiest Heroes, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, the Incredible Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye, are put to the ultimate test as the fate of the planet hangs in the balance. As the villainous Ultron emerges, it is up to the Avengers to stop him from enacting his terrible plans, and soon uneasy alliances and unexpected action pave the way for a global adventure.JW: 这个剧情怎么有种似曾相识的感觉。B:Um, I can smell the flavor from my childhood.J:Well, I think most of the heroics movies are the same in script. Anyway, we will leave the comments to the audiences. Let's hear a cinecism from imdb.PART 2:影评B: There's no one word that can some up this movie. I won't use ‘eh' because that's a bit too vague, and I think it's a bit better than that. But things like ‘good' or ‘amazing' are too crazy to use. Welcome to my review.JW: Age of Ultron opens to a fine start -in fact, an amazing start- with a fresh, intense, action-packed sequence. The Avengers are introduced for the sequel, and so are two new characters: Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver. These ended up being my favorite characters in this movie. Unfortunately, they get tossed aside a bit. Considering they're new characters, and considering one is in an upcoming movie and the other dies, they should have gotten more development. I adored Scarlet Witch and her powers, at least in the parts that she's ACTUALLY IN.J: After the opening, everything goes downhill, at least SLIGHTLY. Ultron's introduction is quite terrible. Can anyone explain to me how this invisible force can suddenly SPEAK inside a whole load of technological material? I don't know... It just felt pretty dumb to me. If this was how it was in the comics, then I suppose I can't really complain much. But I guess I could say that it doesn't translate to screen very well. B: After that, the movie becomes kind of dull. I kept twitching in my seat various different times. If I can say one thing, it's that the action sequences were fantastic, and they're the only things that hold this movie up. Ultron was nothing like he was in the teaser trailer that got me hyped, nor was the movie. I wanted a dark, gritty, intense, heart-breaking, half-horror movie! The advertising for this movie is false, almost to the point where I could sue. Remember Scarlet&`&s gut-wrenching scream, or maybe Ultron saying "There&`& s no strings on me" in the teaser trailer? Well guess what? Nowhere to be found.JW: But there&`& s one last thing that makes me feel at least a bit satisfied with the movie, and that was the last act. When Ultron&`& s plans were finally revealed, everything turned amazing. The CGI effects were absolutely incredible, and there are shots in the trailers that would reveal his plan if they were extended by a few seconds, so keep an eye out...J: By the end of this review, I can finally figure out one word to sum this up. “Overrated.”B: You can mark this review as unhelpful, but I don't care. It's my opinion. This movie is definitely NOT a must see, but I guess it is for any fans of the comics.JW: Just be prepared for a completely different film to the film marketed in the trailers.. Thank you for reading, and I know that at least somebody will agree with me.JW: 一千个人眼中有一千个哈姆雷特。J: 总之大家只有在看过电影之后才会有不一样的感想。B: But I was recently concerned that many people who haven't seen a lot of Marvel's movies are not very aware of the relationship between the characters.J: 比如我在看电影的时候就比较吃力,因为不太了解漫威宇宙的故事,所以珠儿你可不可以给大家讲一下漫威电影的观影顺序。JW: 不可以J: 那么珠儿你马上给大家讲一下观影顺序。JW: 你看你们关键时刻还得靠嘉宾吧。PART 3:观影顺序 JW: Be ready for watching the Avengers: Age of Ultron, we can firstly begin with The Iron man I (Um, Tony) then The Incredible Hulk (Bruce Banner) The Iron man II (oh, Tony again) Thor (the one with a hammer) Captain America: The First Avenger (Steven Rogers) The Avengers (Yeah) Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and Guardians of the Galaxy which was just released last year.

Fast and Furious 7B: I think you definitely know the hottest film these days right?J: Sure! fast and furious VII right? This is a movie that is every movie at once. It's the uber-film. It's got explosions, romance, stunts, cars, thrills, fights, chases, guns, jiggling buns, cars, fights, questionable gender politics, guns, heists, intrigue, mystery, terrorism, The Rock. Cars.It is every movie that ever was and ever will be. So now I'm done. I've seen it all. It's also a two-hour love letter to one of the greatest bromances in cinema history. It kinda destroyed me.B: OK plot.B: Dominic Torretto and his crew thought they left the criminal mercenary life behind. They defeated an international terrorist named Owen Shaw and went their seperate ways. But now, Shaw's brother, Deckard Shaw is out killing the crew one by one for revenge. Worse, a Somalian terrorist called Jakarde, and a shady government official called "Mr. Nobody" are both competing to steal a computer terrorism program called God's Eye, that can turn any technological device into a weapon. Torretto must reconvene with his team to stop Shaw and retrieve the God's Eye program while caught in a power struggle between terrorist and the United States government.J: By about 2009 when 'Fast & Furious' was released, the franchise had slowly began to veer away from its focus of street racing and instead began to turn its attention to the action genre.B: However along with this change of style, the franchise was actually getting better and better with each film. 'Fast & Furious 7' is a no-holds, over- the-top and mindless action film, but this aside, it is an extremely entertaining and fun film to watch.J: Yes. With an all-star cast and some brilliant action sequences, 'Fast & Furious 7' is proof that certain franchises can continually make great movies.B: The most notable moment however in the entire film is the emotional and respectful ending during the send-off of Paul Walker, the film finishing with a montage of Walker in the previous six films, finishing with just two words, 'For Paul', this is the first time a Fast and Furious film has affected me emotionally, and it is arguably the best in the franchise.J: we want to talk about the director James WanB: Maybe James is not familiar to everyone, but the director once directed one sequels of the franchise film SAW.J: 'It's time for me to move on to other things and I'm thrilled that Universal and Neal have selected James Wan to lead the franchise into its new chapter.' the young director noted.B: Director James Wan faced lot of challenges finishing Furious 7 after Paul Walker died in an unrelated car accident, but sticking his film's ending was, perhaps, the biggest.J: Since Furious 7 is Wan's first film in the franchise, he only really got to know Walker once he'd signed on for the job. But that barely mattered. "When you hear rumors around Hollywood of, like, whether a person is cool, or whether a person is a dick, those are usually true. Paul's reputation is that of a really good human being and a great guy, and just so down to earth,"B: Paul Walker had only completed about half of the film before he died and they doubled him with his brothers and digital effects and such. I remember you saying after that you didn't notice.J: Nope because I am a simple gal who moved to a big city and doesn't understand digital floating faces.B: I guess I was looking for it. There were a lot of scenes where he was turning away from the camera in the background or playing with his child, and picking the kid up so it obscures his face.J: And you could tell a large part of the opening of the film had been rewritten, just because not many of the scenes had Paul Walker in. It was characters talking about him, sort of setting up this ending to his part in the franchise.B: There was a definite line in the sand moment when the film went from PLOT AND EXPLOSIONS to remembering Paul Walker. But it didn't jar. It was welcome. This is a character we've spent six films with, and an actor we lost far too young. J: What they did was a sendoff to Paul/Brian, having him drive off into the distance in a white Toyota Supra, the car he drove in the original film. It was lovely moment. A lovely, soul-crushing, messy-crying moment. The montage, and the song, and the real look of mourning on Vin Diesel's face as he says good-bye.B: I was pretty emotional at the ending and I didn't even know why. J: I'm still not over it. I'll never be over it. The song. See you AgainB: yes, I have to tell you that this song is so touching and I bet most furious fans would cry for itJ: Absolutely, the song is performed by the famous rap artist Wiz Khalifa and singer Charlie Puth, and as the ending of our programme today we bring you the song.

B: We will meet at the external space station in exactly 3 minutes. Failure to do so, will be utmost regrettable. W: (Whisper) What? What proof are you talking about. M: Physical.

A: Do you have a part-time job, Joe? B: Yes, I work at a convenience store. A: What do you do there? B: I do a little of everything. When there are a lot of customers, I work at the cash register. At other times, I put stuff on the shelves. A: Do you have to clean the store? B: Of course. We all do. We have to keep the restroom clean. If someone spills or breaks something in the store, we have to clean it up. We also have to make sure that the garbage bins outside don't overflow. A: What do you like the best about your job? B: I know my co-workers well, so we have fun working together. Also, the convenience store isn't far from my home, so it's easy to get there, and some of the customers are also my neighbors. A: What do you like the least about your job? B: Well, it's not an interesting job. It can get boring. PRACTICE A: What do you like the best about your hometown? B: It is very exciting. A: What do you like the least about your hometown? B: It is really cold in the winter. A: What do you like the best about school? B: I have lots of friends. A: What do you like the least about school? B: I have too much homework. A: What do you like the best about soccer? B: The players are always moving around.
