From gender and racial discrimination to toxic workplace culture, they highlight the need for moral courage, ethical decision-making, and structural changes to foster a more inclusive and equitable environment. The discussion revisits key moments like Gamergate, a flashpoint that exposed deep-seated harassment, and explores movements like the "girls game movement" that sought to empower women in gaming. Despite progress through women-led initiatives and increased awareness, the industry continues to grapple with significant barriers to inclusion and diversity. Here are some of the references from this episode, for those who want to dig a little deeper:The Hivemind Swarmed: Conversations on Gamergate, the Aftermath, and the Quest for a Safer InternetGamergate - WikipediaGamergate | Summary, Facts, & Zoe Quinn | BritannicaWhat Gamergate should have taught us about the 'alt-right'Atari founder Nolan Bushnell on why life is 'a game'Purple MoonWhat makes a AAA game a AAA game?Party Like It's 1995: The Rise and Fall of the Girl GameThe ‘Girl Games' of the '90s Were Fun and FeministThe Three Theories of Criminal JusticeConclave on IMDb, official trailerWatch the uncensored moment Will Smith smacks Chris Rock on stage at the Oscars, drops F-bombMetacriticBooks Mentioned:Broad Band: The Untold Story of the Women Who Made the Internet by Claire L. Alan Lowe speaks with Dr. Margaret Weitekamp of the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum about its transformation ahead of America's 250th anniversary. They explore how new exhibits, immersive storytelling, and iconic artifacts like the Wright Flyer, Space Shuttle Discovery, and Neil Armstrong's spacesuit bring aviation and space history to life. Weitekamp discusses the museum's role as both a public institution and research center, preserving innovations from early flight to modern space exploration. She also reflects on international collaboration, private sector contributions, and how triumph and tragedy alike shape our understanding of humanity's journey beyond Earth. Guest Bio Dr. Margaret Weitekamp is the curator and department chair of the space history department at the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum. She holds a BA from the University of Pittsburgh and earned her MA and PhD in history from Cornell University. A former Mellon Fellow in the humanities, she also served as the American Historical Association's NASA Aerospace History Fellow at NASA Headquarters. Since joining the museum in 2004, she has led major curatorial efforts and became department chair in 2019. This episode challenges the broken narrative around the American Dream and reframes it as a mindset, not a marketing slogan. He dives into the importance of creation over consumption, the undervalued wisdom of older generations, and the truth that you're never too old (or too young) to build something of real value.Nick shares stories of his friend and aerospace legend Burt Rutan: the man who invented private space travel and is still designing planes at age 83. The episode also features a tribute to Max Faget, a high-impact inventor with no college degree who helped shape modern space capsules and inspired Rutan deep into his 90s.This episode is both a wake-up call and a love letter to dreamers, doers, and underdogs of all ages.

The Moon is Earth's only natural satellite. It orbits Earth at an average distance of 384399 km (238,854 mi; about 30 times Earth's diameter). The Moon's orbital period (lunar month) and rotation period (lunar day) are synchronized by Earth's gravitational pull at 29.5 Earth days, making the same side of the Moon always face Earth. The Moon's pull on Earth is the main driver of Earth's tides.

Imagine cruising through the cosmos on a real spaceship, our everyday lives would take a cosmic turn. Forget rush hour – floating gracefully in zero gravity would be the new normal, making morning commutes a breeze. Mealtime? Say hello to space cuisine, with floating food orbs and sipping on liquid drops in a futuristic dining experience. Sleep would be an anti-gravity dream, as we snugly float in our sleeping pods, living the sci-fi bedtime story. And of course, our entertainment would skyrocket, with virtual reality spacewalks and stargazing sessions replacing conventional movie nights.
The title of this episode is pulled from a comedy album released in 1974. More importantly, it is called “Everything You Know Is Wrong”. Back then I had no idea that what I accepted as normal everyday life was in fact far from reality. So far from reality, that had I been told then what (more...)

Mars by 1965, Saturn by 1970. This was the motto of a group of eminent scientists in the 1950's who had an audacious plan for space travel riding atomic explosions. Physicist Freeman Dyson was part of the team that proposed using newly created nuclear bombs to get to Mars. His son George Dyson is an author and historian of technology who explores the groundbreaking science, political struggles, and moral dilemmas that ultimately sealed the fate of the endeavour in a book called Project Orion: 1957 - 1965.

What if the Moon isn't just a big rock floating in space, but something way more mysterious—maybe even an ancient, hollow structure placed there on purpose?IN THIS EPISODE: Conspiracy theories, while often dark, can also be kind of humorous due to being so outlandishly unbelievable. For example… is the Earth's moon artificial, and actually an extraterrestrial spaceship? We'll look at the strange theory. (Could Our Moon Be An Alien Spaceship?) *** In 1912 one of the most brutal slayings in America took place in the small town of Villisca, Iowa… a murder so brutal that numerous documentaries have been made about it, books have been written, and amateur detectives have poured over the facts and suspects still trying to find out who the murderer was that swung the bloody axe. (The Unsolved Villisca Ax Murders) *** The President of the United States, no matter who is in the position at the time, is always in danger from those who would like to see someone else in office. We'll hear on the news of the assassination attempts that came close, but we more often than not are completely unaware of the attempts and plans that have been thwarted – and some of those attempts to kill a sitting U.S. President have been extremely bizarre. (Bizarre Assassination Attempts on U.S. Presidents) *** Some Biblical accounts seem unbelievable and we tend to dismiss them as fantasies, or dreams of the person writing the events down. But what if some of the strange creatures described in the bible are actually real – but come from another dimension, or even outer space? (Are Extraterrestrials in the Bible?) *** If you are told there is a city that has been built specifically for the dead, you probably think of some ancient culture that worshipped their ancestors. Personally, I think of pyramids in Egypt… but I never would've thought of the suburbs in California, USA.
