Brighter Futures: Making 2026 Better Than 2025 Podcast Description In the final episode of 2025, Duane and Allie get real about what it takes to set yourself—and your martial arts school—up for a brighter, better new year. They reflect on big wins, tough lessons, and how to keep the fire burning after decades in the business. This is a candid, hopeful conversation about letting go of what doesn't serve you, doubling down on what matters, and building a future that's easy, lucrative, and fun (ELF). Key Takeaways Make Your Future Brighter Than Your Past: Don't get stuck reminiscing or complaining—use your experience to fuel positive change for 2026. The ELF vs. HALF Framework: Aim for a business that's Easy, Lucrative, and Fun—not Hard, Annoying, Lame, and Frustrating. Motivation & Burnout: Staying inspired as an owner takes real connection with students, families, and your own “why.” Inventory & Elimination: Take stock of your systems, automations, and routines. Delegate, automate, or delete what no longer serves you. Retention Over Replacement: Don't just chase new leads—focus on deeper connections, leadership development, and community-building. Action Management: You can't control time, but you can manage your actions and energy. Action Steps for School Owners Reflect on 2025: What worked? What didn't? What will you leave behind? Set Clear Goals for 2026: What do you want to start, stop, or double down on? Apply the ELF Test: Is every process, program, or promotion easy, lucrative, and fun? If not, can you fix it or let it go? Reconnect with Your “Why”: Find fresh inspiration in student breakthroughs, family connections, and your own growth. Streamline Communication: Use tech and AI to connect, but avoid white noise—make every touchpoint matter. Empower Your Team: Delegate, automate, and build leaders so you can focus on what only you can do. The Revolving Door: Democratic Insiders and Foreign Influence: Colleague Ken Vogel explains how Democratic operatives like Anita Dunn and Antony Blinken leveraged government experience for lucrative consulting roles at firms like SKDK and WestExec, also discussing Hunter Biden's pardon regarding Chinese business dealings and Robert Stryk's representation of sanctioned Russian defense executives. 1959 OCTOBER
Hunter Biden, Chinese Spies, and the Monetization of Political Connections: Colleague Kenneth P. Vogel reports that following his father's departure from the vice presidency, Hunter Biden faced financial pressure and sought lucrative foreign clients, leading to risky entanglements; one venture involved a corrupt Romanian real estate magnate who hired Hunter along with former FBI Director Louis Freeh and Rudy Giuliani to resolve his legal troubles, with the proposed solution involving selling land including the site of the U.S. Embassy in Romania to a Chinese state-linked fund, and Hunter Biden was aware of the nature of his associates, referring to one as the "spy chief of China." Want a playbook for turning slow seasons into growth? We sit down with Tony from Villa Property Inspections to map out practical ways inspectors expand beyond a standard SOP without losing credibility or crossing ethical lines. From balcony inspection mandates in California to ADA accessibility assessments and commercial proposal tactics, Tony breaks down how the right credentials open doors—and how to present them so clients stop haggling and start booking. We dig into why maintaining a contractor's license or earning ICC certifications can change your posture in any room, especially with engineers and commercial brokers. You'll hear how a formal proposal—cover, scope, methodology, resume, qualifications, and then price—can “topple the fraction” of buyer expectations and borrow trust from respected organizations. We also tackle the fear of liability head-on, outlining how insurance, clear scope, and rigorous documentation keep risk in check while you expand into mold, balcony, or specialty inspections. For inspectors squeezed by stagnant pricing, we outline a path to higher margins and better exit value: recurring maintenance plans. Think filters, gutters, caulking, dryer vents, vegetation trimming—simple tasks that create ARR and MRR while staying clear of transaction conflicts. Add in regional services like wildfire home hardening backed by NFPA-aligned training, and you've got a diversified, resilient business that wins in any cycle. If you're ready to build beyond the SOP, stack value, and turn credibility into contracts, this conversation shows you where to start and how to scale.Enjoyed the show? The High-Risk Sealing Expedition of the Nanina Eric J. Dolan Left for Dead: Shipwreck, Treachery, and Survival at the Edge of the World Sealing was a lucrative industry, particularly for the China market, valued for its high-quality fur seal pelts and elephant seal blubber. Charles Barnard, a veteran sealer, proposed a high-risk expedition on the brig Nanina to the Falkland Islands, which Murray and Son backed despite the impending War of 1812. Many merchant vessels remained in port, but Barnard and Murray viewed this as an opportunity to meet pent-up demand. Barnard's crew included four captains, notably diarist Barzillai Pease, and his 63-year-old, infirm father, Valentine Barnard, who was meant to captain the Nanina on its return voyage to New York laden with cargo. They departed from New York just as an embargo took effect. 1833 FALKLANDS

Cartels have discovered that human smuggling is as profitable, if not more so, than narcotics trafficking. Unlike drugs, people essentially “pay their own way”—migrants hand over thousands of dollars upfront for passage, creating instant revenue streams without the need for costly supply chains or production. U.S. officials estimate that cartels pulled in billions annually from this business, with a single run of 100 migrants potentially generating over $1 million. In fact, by 2021, human smuggling profits were estimated at around $13 billion, rivaling or surpassing drug revenues. The appeal lies in both profit and reduced risk. Drug loads can be seized and destroyed, but migrants—desperate to cross—keep coming, paying anywhere from $6,000 to $15,000 per person for standard routes, and in some cases up to $75,000 for “VIP” tunnel passages. Cartels now market smuggling like a professionalized travel industry, repurposing drug routes, and even coercing migrants into forced labor or drug mule work if debts aren't paid. In some regions, human smuggling now makes up the majority of cartel operations, underscoring how central it has become to their criminal empires.to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:Mexican drug cartels offer migrants VIP package for passage into US (usatoday.com)
The largest law firms in the country are fiercely competitive, so it's notable when nearly 40 of them agree to sign on to a legal brief. That's what happened in an appellate case that could have eroded the attorney-client privilege—and the firms' lucrative white collar defense practices. They breathed a collective sigh of relief earlier this month when the Sixth Circuit overturned a lower court ruling that would have forced FirstEnergy to turn over to its shareholders the results of internal investigations. The company hired Jones Day and Squire Patton Boggs to conduct the probes in response to a bribery scandal and later argued that the work was shielded by attorney-client privilege. On today's episode of our podcast, On The Merits, reporter Roy Strom explains what happened in this case and why it represented such a threat to Big Law. He also gets into the reasons lawyers' hourly rates for white collar defense work can climb so high. Do you have feedback on this episode of On The Merits? Right now, as these words are entering your consciousness, something extraordinary is happening in the quantum field around you. There's an opportunity - a lucrative, life-changing opportunity - that's literally forming in the invisible architecture of reality, and it has your energetic signature all over it. Most people would dismiss this as metaphysical nonsense, and that's exactly why they remain locked in scarcity while others seem to effortlessly attract abundance. Opportunities aren't random events that happen to lucky people. They're living frequencies, seeking conscious co-creators who understand the game that's really being played. Right now, your biofield is either broadcasting "I'm ready" or "I'm not ready" to the universe of possibilities. Which signal are you transmitting? While broke people chase money, millionaires chase something entirely different. They chase opportunities. And there's a profound reason for this that most people never grasp. Money is finite. Opportunities are infinite. Money is a result. Opportunities are the cause. When you chase money directly, you're like a dog chasing its own tail - lots of movement, zero progress. But when you align yourself with the frequency of opportunity, money becomes a natural byproduct, almost an afterthought. Every single dollar that exists in someone's bank account right now came through an opportunity. Not hard work alone. Not positive thinking alone. Not even talent alone. It came through the recognition and seizure of an opportunity. The wealthiest people on Earth aren't the hardest workers - they're the most skilled opportunity recognizers and captors. But here's the paradox that breaks most people's minds: the moment you stop needing opportunities, they start flooding into your reality. The moment you become someone who opportunities seek out, rather than someone desperately seeking opportunities, everything changes.

Though only five years into his rental property investing career, David Rosenbeck is making a seven-figure wealth-building move. If it all pans out, he'll be one million dollars (or more) richer, with a brand new investment property that'll spit out $7,000 cash flow monthly! This is a DREAM real estate deal that any investor wishes they could get their hands on…but here's the thing: anyone can do this, and you can 'build' your own deal from scratch! After making $100,000 in his first 18 months of investing, David knew he had a knack for real estate investing. He was a nurse practitioner and in no way wanted to give up his sizable six-figure salary, but he knew he wanted to scale his real estate portfolio in a big way. The problem? Deals are hard to come by, and David's main strategy—medium-term rentals (renting to traveling nurses)—was getting saturated. So, he searched for something new and landed on a big opportunity: build his OWN short-term rental in one of the hottest destinations in the US but build it specifically to beat the competition. He found the money and the dirt to build on and is off to the races—keeping his small portfolio while taking a big risk for a massive reward: a million-dollar equity upside if he pulls it off. Want to hear how you can create your own seven-figure opportunity? David is sharing, step-by-step, exactly how he did it! In This Episode We Cover: How David is ‘building' a seven-figure equity-upside real estate deal Using other people's money to invest in real estate (and how to do it the RIGHT way) How David scaled from zero to eight rentals in just three years The bright side of short-term rental regulations and the market that David feels very confident in How to find a builder/developer for your first new construction rental property (and vet them BEFORE you start!)
