Today we're joined by multi-talented creator, Ben Khan, as they share their creative processes, influences, and experiences throughout their comic career. From their work with Ubisoft tie-ins like "Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix: Crushing Love" and "Immortals Fenyx Rising," to indie comics like "Renegade Rule" and "Heavenly Blues," or even their new young adult novel "Elle Campbell Wins Their Weekend!" If you're not familiar with Ben from their incredible work in comics, you might recognize them from the Progressively Horrified podcast! Ben does an incredible job both playing with and subverting established tropes, and they have a knack for world building that we've rarely seen elsewhere! We get into the creative origins behind these stories, and gush about the films that have inspired their work.
Hi All! We have reached our penultimate episode of the current season of the CDB Pod. Unfortunately, Darci was unable to join us for this recording, but Carrie and Brian pressed on and talked about Carrie's choice: Did You Hear What Eddie Gein Done? by Harold Schechter and Eric Powell (Albatross Funnybooks). Carrie and Brian get into the nitty gritty of this True-Crime account of one of the most infamous murderers in history. It get's a little gross, here and there, but just like the book, Brian and Carrie try to keep it classy and not too disgusting while talking about this disgusting topic. Other books discussed this episode: Barn Owl by Sas Milledge (ShortBox) and Immortals Fenyx Rising: From Great Beginnings by Ben Khan, Georgeo Brooks, and Wes Dzioba (Dark Horse). Comics Deserve Better is a weekly podcast hosted by Brian, Carrie and Darci which covers the world of Independent Comics.
