Rachel talks to writer Jason Shapiro about his journey as a comedy writer and developing the popular twitter account, Los Feliz Daycare. Having started as a PA on Lost and moving his way up to write on shows such as Betty White's Off Their Rockers, Jason discusses the importance of standing out in your own way. He tells the story of how he started a fake twitter account and anonymously tweeted to writers he was working with as a way to get noticed while showcasing his writing ability. The idea turned into something bigger for Jason and Los Feliz Daycare is now followed by some of the industry's biggest players and has opened the door to more opportunities for Jason. "There is a very linear path at how to do it, but that's gonna happen for 1% of people. You have to also be doing these things on the side to get noticed and those are the things to get you to the next level," Jason says.

It's been EIGHT MONTHS AND TWO DAYS since our last episode! Like they always say, "No time like eight months and two days from now to post a new episode of podcast!" Due to technical difficulties and an extreme case of laziness on Nick's end, we had a very long period of time where no new episodes were posted (this one was recorded in late March or early April or something like that), but we're back baby! Just in time for Christmas! In this episode, we have our good friends Chanice Wipesworth and Maynard Slurt as guests. They stop by to tell us about all the clubs they started in their time at Penn State. Again, this was recorded eight or nine months ago, so they've finished school by now, hopefully. We also get a surprise visit from a handyman named T?m. We still aren't exactly sure what is name was, but he plays some games with us and informs us that our good friend of the show Screaming Eagle Who's Mute, is actually just Screaming Eagle Who's Shy. This episode is brought to you by NBC's "Betty White's Off Their Rockers" and Forest Fires! Sorry for the delay to the seven of you who listen to this! Merry Christmas and Happy Honda Days!
Comedy writer Michael James Nelson (michaeljamesnelson.com) has worked on Betty White's Off Their Rockers and many other shows in spite of the fact that as a young man he was convinced he would pursue a career in science and work on the Space Shuttle. He joins Matt, Andy and return guest Robert Buscemi this week to talk about: Magnet schools: How do they work? Growing up with multiple learning disabilities! The varying definitions of nerd-dom! The awesomeness of Betty White! Nice pranks! Last week's asteroid close-call! Fox News and their assessment of the value of space water! Drilling into the surface of Mars! Space cats! Using color patterns to search for extraterrestrial life! The bones of Richard III! The uncertainty principle demonstrated on a (somewhat) grand scale! Literal pecking orders! How to get alpha eggs at your local grocery store!
