「TBSホールディングス・井田常務取締役が不正経理で辞任　懇親や慰労の会食を“社外関係者との交際費”と偽る」　不正な経理処理でTBSホールディングスの取締役が辞任です。TBSホールディングスによりますと、常務取締役の井田重利氏は、グループ役職員との懇親や慰労目的での会食を、社外関係者との交際費と偽り精算を行っていました。12月上旬に内部通報があり、調査の結果、井田氏は不正を認め、25日付で辞任を申し出ました。井田氏はコンプライアンス担当で、不正は2022年6月から12月までで180件、約660万円に上り、返金の意思を示しているということです。TBSホールディングスは「信頼を裏切る決してあってはならない行為であり、心よりおわび申し上げます」とコメントしています。

Discovery Inc. has entered exclusive negotiations to sell its film and TV studios and HBO Max streaming service to Netflix Inc., according to people familiar with the discussions. Netflix is offering a $5 billion breakup fee if regulators don’t approve the deal, said the people, who asked to not be identified because the discussions are private. The two companies could announce a deal as soon as in the coming days, assuming talks don’t fall apart, the people said. The move suggests Netflix has pulled ahead of Paramount Skydance Corp. and Comcast Corp., who were also competing for the asset. Prior to the closing of the sale, Warner Bros. — valued at more than $60 billion overall — will complete the planned spinoff of cable channels including CNN, TBS and TNT.2) The US lobbied several countries in the European Union in an effort to block EU plans to use frozen Russian central bank assets to back a massive loan to Ukraine, according to European diplomats familiar with the matter. US officials argued to member states that the assets are needed to help secure a peace deal between Kyiv and Moscow and should not be used to prolong the war, said the diplomats, who spoke on the condition of anonymity.3) India will pay about $2 billion to lease a nuclear-powered submarine from Russia, according to people familiar with the matter, finalizing delivery of the vessel after roughly a decade of talks just as President Vladimir Putin makes a visit to New Delhi. Talks for leasing the attack submarine from Russia had stalled over the years because of price negotiations, the people said, asking not to be identified because the discussions are private. Netflix is buying the studios of Warner Bros Discovery Netflix will also get HBOMax (but I can't see that sticking around long). Shareholders of WBD will get $23 in cash and $4.50 in shares of Netflix common stock, valuing the deal at $83 billion ($144 billion NZD). The TV networks that were part of the old Discovery company, plus the Warner Brothers networks like CNN, TBS, TNT, etc, are all moving to their own publicly listed company known at the moment as "Global Networks". This is of course all subject to regulators, not just in the USA but internationally too – Netflix already operates in 190 countries. NYT is suing AI startup Perplexity The suit alleges Perplexity has illegally copied and distributed The Times' copyrighted content, including stories, videos, and podcasts. It uses this content to formulate responses to user queries. The Times says the AI also generates outputs that are “identical or substantially similar to” The Times' content. Publishers have been suing new tech companies for a hundred years, starting with radio, TV, the internet, social media, and now AI,” said Jesse Dwyer, Perplexity's Head of Communication. “Fortunately, it's never worked, or we'd all be talking about this by telegraph.” Samsung launches the tri-fold phone Apple is a single screen phone, but there are rumours it's working on a foldable screen device to be announced next year. Samsung though says, 'hold my beer', and launches a tri-fold device with a 10 inch screen. That's in addition to the outer screen. Wild. If you want one, you'll need to buy it from Korea, China, Taiwan, Singapore, UAE, or the USA. The first-generation device won't be available in New Zealand. Rodney Barnes is an American screenwriter, producer, and author. He has written and produced such TV shows as The Boondocks, Everybody Hates Chris, Marvel's Runaways, American Gods, Wu-Tang: An American Saga, and HBO's Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty. His graphic novels and comic books include Killadelphia, Blacula, Monarch, Marvel's Falcon, and the adaptation of the first season of Star Wars: The Mandalorian. Rodney Barnes' newest comic book series, the horror-noir Crownsville, explores Maryland's Jim Crow–era "Hospital for the Negro Insane." He has received awards and honors from the Peabody Awards, American Film Institute, Writers Guild of America, BET Comedy Awards, and NAACP Image Awards, and the Eisner for creative achievement in American comic books. Barnes shares hard-earned advice from his long career about the importance of discipline, humility, building a moral center, and surviving an industry and world that can overwhelm and corrupt. He also reflects on how a life-and-death health emergency reshaped his views on art, work, relationships, and gratitude. Rodney and Chauncey discuss their mutual love of professional wrestling, Star Wars, and comic books and what shows like Sanford and Son and the other TBS classics of the 1980s taught them as men of a certain vintage. For this Thanksgiving weekend episode, Chauncey DeVega reflects on gratitude in difficult times and reads a story about how Black Civil War soldiers celebrated the holiday. Chauncey is reminded that nobody hates like family as he watches a late-night pre-Thanksgiving verbal brawl and donnybrook between a father and a son at a local business, and issues his annual public service announcement warning about the dangers of physical intimacy and other forms of romance after eating too much food on this (or any other) holiday.
