We've come to the moment where we can finally talk about possibly the one last thing all Americans can agree on: the loveliness that was Betty White. Betty White grew up with television and she paid her dues. From hours in full make-up on live television, to decades of stiff game show competition, “The Golden Girls” was far from her only contribution to culture and entertainment. The part we don't often hear about is the influential network of female entertainers she ran with, as well as the vast network of more behind-the-scenes players that she was connected with. So, “Sweet Tea & TV” is here to correct that for ya. Betty made us laugh. She made us cheer. But, more importantly, she made space for others to do the same. And in doing so, she ensured that the women of television would always have a seat at the table.

Rose Nylund may not be one to “toot her own Vertugenflürgen, so we'll do it for her. Let's face it: she's the Golden Girl you want to hug most. She's the forever optimist, genuinely sincere and sincerely genuine, inclusive, and downright wholesome. Rose is like a walking, breathing plate of warm cookies and hot cocoa. But don't get it twisted: she's also strong, wildly competitive, and not to be underestimated. Sometimes her best qualities – along with heavy helping of naivety and cluelessness – place her in precarious situations. And, look, we're all better for knowing more about St. Olaf. There would be no Rose, not as we know her, without the legendary Betty White at the helm. So come back Thursday for an Extra Sugar all about the gal behind the gal.

When American comedian and actor Betty White died, fans lamented the fact that she had just missed making it to her 100th birthday. They felt she'd been robbed of achieving a significant life moment. Some researchers think that this century could see more people making it to that moment and beyond. That's the focus of this episode of Stats and Stories with guest Michael Pearce. Michael Pearce is a PhD candidate in Statistics at the University of Washington, working under the supervision of Elena A. Erosheva. His primary research interests include preference learning and developing Bayesian statistical models for social science problems. In his spare time, Michael enjoys running, biking, and paddling around the Puget Sound.

In today's Add To Cart episode, Clare sits down with Bushy to reflect on Bon Maxie's 10-year journey, from the early days of handcrafting in a sawdust-filled garage to manufacturing internationally. She explains how she's built a customer-first brand while also shaping her business to suit her family's needs, rejecting the traditional idea of what a “big” business should look like.Today, we're discussing:How Clare transformed a jewellery storage frustration into Bon Maxie's first cult product, and what it took to move from hand-drilled plywood to scaled manufacturing. The obsessive product design philosophy behind Bon Maxie's bags, wallets, and organisers: from strap lengths to zipper strength. The reality of outsourcing production overseas: quality control, communication challenges, and why understanding the process before you delegate is critical. How Bon Maxie built a fiercely loyal community through authenticity, from late-night pizza box photoshoots to Betty White gifs in Facebook ads.Why Clare believes messy, radically honest marketing cuts through more than polished perfection in today's ecommerce landscape. The shift from serving repeat customers to acquiring new ones, and how Clare adjusted her ad strategy, content, and product range to match.Redefining success: what it means to grow a business on your own terms, balance family priorities, and design a lifestyle that works rather than chasing traditional scale.Connect with Clare Spelta Explore Bon MaxieSMS us to request a guest!Support the showWant to level up your ecommerce game? Rachel, a loyal listener and subscriber, asked for it, and Nick delivers: the unforgettable night Betty White hosted Saturday Night Live. On May 8, 2010, following a grassroots Facebook campaign, the comedy legend took the stage for a Mother's Day episode that pulled in the season's highest ratings and won her an Emmy. The show featured a reunion of powerhouse female cast members — Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph, Ana Gasteyer, Rachel Dratch, and Molly Shannon — who brought back classic characters while teaming up with White in sketches that were hilariously naughty and delightfully vulgar. At 88 years old, Betty White proved she was game for anything, and the results were comedy gold. Along with clips from that night, Nick shares behind-the-scenes stories, backstage moments, and why this episode remains one of the most beloved in SNL history. [EP 140]

This week on The Analysis, Bob Pantalone welcomes back film fanatic and pop culture critic Brittney Brown for a deep dive into Apple TV's breakout hit The Studio—a smart, satirical rollercoaster produced by and starring Seth Rogen. From Martin Scorsese directing a Kool-Aid Man movie to Bryan Cranston mangling lobster at a blackjack table, The Studio hilariously pulls back the curtain on the chaotic, ego-filled, and often absurd world of modern moviemaking. Brittney and Bob unpack their favorite episodes, dig into how real-life industry pressures show up in the storytelling, and reflect on Rogen's evolution as a creator who's not afraid to make himself the punchline.

The mics pop like champagne as we usher Miami OG Lea Black back for part 2 in Dallas. What follows is a glitter cannon of gossip, gratitude, and girdle-tight life lessons—all in under an hour. Glitter vs. Grit Lea opens her designer diary: she once slid to the side so “drop-dead gorgeous” Joanna Krupa could shine, and even loaned baubles to castmates “starring in rented houses and leased Jaguars.” She applauds Bethenny Frankel's rag-to-Skinnygirl rise while roasting fame junkies who'll chase a camera “to the opening of an envelope.” Hollywood Stories & Humble Queens Grab your autograph book. Lea bumps into Faye Dunaway disguised in Juicy Couture, the boys accept a curbside first edition from Dyan Cannon, and Pol' watches Zoë Saldana crawl on the boutique floor to play with puppy SnowWhite90210. Patrik fires back: mistaking Courtney Love for a “homeless lady,” then auctioning Pamela Anderson's lap for $10 K at a gala. The moral, via icons Betty White and Anna Nicole Smith: class never goes out of style. Skincare Royalty & the Chump Army We chat about Lea Black Beauty serums, masks, and miracle oil and Pol' confesses he ditched Obagi for Lea Black Beauty. Cosmic Signs & Coffee Grounds Pol's 2nd half of Lea's Armenian coffee divination crowns Lea “queen of limitless lanes.” Two new ventures shimmer in the grinds: an affordable-housing empire for son RJ and a hush-hush jewelry play. The trio compare destiny detours—from a Phuket flight missed before the 2004 tsunami to pilots grounding planes on “feng-shui feelings.” Hot Topics & Runway Rundown Headlines fly: Gene Hackman's carbon-monoxide tragedy prompts a detector PSA. Jeff Bezos plans to rocket Lauren Sanchez, Gayle King, and Katy Perry into orbit—Lea yells “Prenup, please!”Fashion time: Pol' torches the RHOM reunion looks—Lisa Hochstein's iridescent foil (“Forever 21 clearance”), Larsa Pippen's emerald ruche, and Alexia's metallic mini—branding the set “Star-Wars prom.” By contrast, Greg Lotus's portrait of Lea in a bias-cut ivory gown is christened “Rich-Bitch Perfection.” Money, Morals & Mega-Billions Lea slams corporate layoff kings, privatized-FAA chaos, and royal PR spin. Her mantra: “Show me where you spend your money, time, and influence, and I'll show your values.” Love, Security & Limitless Hustle Coffee grounds confirm attorney/philanthropist Roy Black is Lea's steady North Star—“that box is forever checked.” With home secure, she juggles a dozen gigs and yearns for five more. Patrik crowns her the “Ozempic of people—one shot and your goals slim to what matters.” Lea's final words: “I feel naked—inside and out—but drape me in couture and 60 carats, darling!” This is another Hurrdat Media Production. Special topics for your consideration include: criming 1990s eyebrow fashion, a bit of science on how lakes work (being fun is better than knowing things), characters who could only be improved by a meteor hitting them, hailing the queen herself Betty White, and a true oatron saint of this podcast Steve Miner. Steve Miner's movies are funny. May i recommend my favorite, "House?" It's Episode 236. The regular lineup of links!
