Harrison Bernstein is the founder of Soldiers To Sidelines (STS) and has served as executive director since May 2014. STS evolved from a passion project to a burgeoning nonprofit once Harrison resigned from coaching college and professional football to focus 100% on the STS mission. Harrison was able to attract key advisors and officers to help steward the mission. Since 2018, the board has grown to over 21 leaders in the military, sports, and business, and has built a staff of 9 employees. Harrison led his team to develop key partners and sponsors such as USO, Team RWB, Wounded Warrior Project, Women Veterans Alliance, Berkshire Hathaway Energy, the Randy Walker Legacy Foundation and the NFL NY Jets. In fact, he was awarded the NFL Salute To Service Nomination by the NY Jets for the second time this past year. Most recently Harrison authored and published "The Everyday Coach: Harnessing the Magic of Influence." The book is provided free to every STS Soldier Coach and all profits from sales support Soldiers To Sidelines. Harrison also hosts "Harrison Bernstein's Everyday Coach," an accompanying podcast that highlights leadership lessons learned from military heroes, business executives, and coaches to steward the craft of coaching in everyday life. In the past, Harrison has coached football and sports performance for several teams in the NFL, NCAA DIV I, II, and III, and at the high school level. While coaching, Harrison taught in the Master's Program of Exercise Science at George Washington University for seven years. Harrison graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a BA in Economics, was voted captain of the football team, and earned All American honors for three years and Conference Defensive Player of the Year in 1997. Jerry and John are so thrilled to welcome back Gary Gait to the podcast. Gait is widely considered the greatest men's lacrosse player of all time, and his remarkable playing career features a winning theme at every level. A three-time NCAA Champion, Gait led Syracuse's most dominant stretch in program history, losing just one game in three seasons from 1988-90. He is a two-time recipient of the Lt. Raymond J. Enners Award, presented annually to the nation's most outstanding player, and was the NCAA Championship Most Outstanding Player on a team considered to be the greatest ever assembled in college lacrosse. At the professional level as a player, Gait has won three NLL titles (1991, 1994, 1995), three MLL titles, (2001, 2002, 2005), three Mann Cups (1991, 1997, 1999), the Heritage Cup (2004) and the ILF World Championship (2006). Gait is currently the men's lacrosse coach at Syracuse University, whom he led to the 2025 NCAA Final Four. Prior to coaching the men, he spent 14 years as the Head Coach of Women's lacrosse at Syracuse and turned the team into a national powerhouse, reaching three national title games, including in the 2021 season. He also coached Team Canada to the U20 Men's World Championship in 2025. In his career, Gait is a 10-time NCAA Champion, including seven titles as an assistant coach with the Maryland women's lacrosse program (1995-01) and his three championships as a player. Today on the podcast, we talk about instilling championship behaviors, the difference going back to coaching men's lacrosse, and so much more. Tschüss Alkohol – Ist die Volksdroge out?

We're thankful this week for a full Thanksgiving slate of Europa and Conference League action that delivered some of the best games and storylines of the league phase thus far. In Europa, Ludogorets shocked Celta Vigo with a 3-2 in Bulgaria. How'd they pull one of the biggest surprises of the tournament thus far? We then break down the struggle of Feyenoord, Utrecht, and Go Ahead Eagles, who all lost amidst grueling schedules. What's going wrong for the Dutch sides? Can any of them rebound and qualify for knockouts? Are Robin van Persie and his son up to the challenge? We also touch on Roma's win over Midtjylland, Bologna's impressive run of form, and naturally, the carcass of OG Nice, who now sit rock bottom of the table. There we upsets galore in Conference League, with each of the top 4 league sides falling. Strasbourg got a signature win in their triumph over the visiting Crystal Palace, and we hone in on what made the fixture such an exciting watch and why the clubs have established themselves as clear favorites. Then, we examine Rayo Vallecano's penchant for making life hard on themselves, Mainz's mediocre play catching up with them, and the dismal existence that is Fiorentina. And, naturally, we give Hamrun Spartans some love for becoming the first Maltese club to win a UEFA group-stage match. All that, some table takeaways, more VAR vitriol, and of course, David's Coefficient Corner. Cheers to our old friend Vincenzo Italiano!

Platz 2 in Deutschland, Platz 3 in Großbritannien. Es war der endgültige Durchbruch für das britische Techno- und Trance-Projekt.

Educators often assume that clubs, activities, and school culture must happen in person—that building belonging in virtual learning is limited or even impossible. Many imagine distance learners as isolated kids behind screens, missing the social experiences that shape identity, leadership, and community. But what if that assumption is simply wrong? In this conversation, Cindy Carbajal, a 20-year veteran of Pearson Virtual Schools, shows us how vibrant, student-driven communities thrive online through thoughtful structure, flexible engagement pathways, and opportunities for real agency.Cindy oversees a global clubs and activities program serving 11,000+ students across time zones, grade levels, and cultural backgrounds. Her work demonstrates that:1. Student-Centered Design Fuels Real BelongingClubs are built with a goal that at least 50% of live time is student talk time—not passive listening.Students share, present, lead, and create—driving engagement and ownership.Broad-topic clubs (like Art Club instead of Crochet Club) help students discover unexpected interests and communities.2. Flexible Models Match Virtual Students' Real LivesEvery offering includes both synchronous and asynchronous pathways, ensuring access regardless of schedules, time zones, or family obligations.Live sessions build community; asynchronous challenges deepen skills and allow for self-paced exploration.3. Clubs Quietly Reinforce Academic & Durable SkillsCindy calls it “stealth learning”:Math skills reinforced in esports strategies.Reading skills strengthened through participation logistics and peer review.Executive functioning, digital communication, and leadership built through planning, presenting, and collaborating.4. Data Drives Program EvolutionHer team measures:Enrollment and attendanceStudent and caregiver satisfactionWithdrawal trendsOverlap between global clubs and local school clubs These insights help fine-tune offerings and spark new opportunities—like peer tutoring, reading buddies, and esports leagues. How Educators Can Apply These Insights Today1. Start with the student experience—not the content.Ask: Where can students lead? Where can they share? How can this be theirs?2. Build broad entry points.Instead of a niche club for each interest, create umbrellas where kids can explore together.3. Don't replicate in-person school—capitalize on what's uniquely possible online.Global reach, time-zone diversity, virtual volunteer opportunities, and student leadership that scales across schools—these are advantages brick-and-mortar can't match.4. Teach students how to interact online.Cindy's programs explicitly teach:How to give feedback in writing and art clubsHow to share space respectfullyHow to show kindness online (Kindness Club!)5. Track what matters.Attendance, satisfaction, enrollment, and student stories help shape future offerings.Episode LinksPearson Virtual Schools — Learn more about their virtual school network and programs, including Cindy's Global Clubs.Host LinksDiscover more virtual learning opportunities at CILC.org with hosts Tami Moehring and Allyson Mitchell.Seth Fleischauer's Banyan Global Learning provides meaningful global learning experiences that prepare students across the globe for success in an interconnected world.
Sean Mullin is an award-winning filmmaker. He has been a writer, director and/or producer on seven films that have received theatrical releases. His critically-acclaimed feature film debut as a writer/director – Amira & Sam – won the top prize at numerous festivals and was distributed theatrically by Drafthouse Films in 2015. His documentary about baseball legend, Yogi Berra – It Ain't Over – received a theatrical release by Sony Pictures Classics in 2023. It is one of the best reviewed sports documentaries of all time – and it was nominated for two Critics Choice Awards and a Writers Guild Award. Prior to his filmmaking career, Sean graduated from West Point where he played rugby. He served an army officer, stationed in Germany and he finished his time as a Captain in the New York Army National Guard – where he was a first responder after the attacks of September 11th, 2001. For several months, he spent his days working as the Officer in Charge of the soldiers stationed at Ground Zero – and his nights performing stand-up comedy. Sean's most recent documentary – Brothers on Three – is an unprecedented look inside the most unique culture of any Division I Athletic program in the country – the West Point Army Rugby Team – as they fight to defend their National Championship. The film hits theaters in November of 2025, and streaming in spring 2026. Jerry and John got an early screening and were blown away. In this weeks podcast, we discuss the film with Sean, and the incredible emotion it invokes as it follows the West Point rugby team. It is a film about positive masculinity, overcoming hardship, and the love among not only teammates, but the men and women who serve our country. As Team Captain Larry Williams says, "Being a good leader isn't about how much you win – it's how you handle loss." To these guys, their team motto of "Trust, Commitment and Love" is much more than just three words: They're a way of life.
