Dave Sanderson was traveling on a business trip on January 15th, 2009. The trip would change his life forever – because Dave was a passenger on US Airways Flight 1549, also known as “The Miracle on the Hudson” piloted by Captain Sullenberger (“Sully”). On this episode, Dave talks about what it was like to survive the crash itself and how he was able to grow from this traumatic experience. He also shares several practical strategies that anyone can use to grow and thrive after their own “personal plane crash” moments. It's not easy to be funny when speaking or giving presentations. This is a fun interview I did for Dave Sanderson's Daily Flash Briefing on Amazon. We cover: The basic seven types of stories The three parts of a story A real-time demo of a strong, proven signature story Most good stories are short, true, interesting narratives that have a positive moral or takeaway. Delivery is key when storytelling. The story is important, but how you tell it is critical. If you enjoy a healthy speaking career, you may want to explore the world of authorship and publishing. Speaking is a natural springboard to writing, but start small if you'd like to get an early win and stage bigger success. You might, for example, publish a ten-point tip sheet on how to do something. Self-publish this document by converting it to a .pdf and voila! You're a published author. If there's interest in your tip sheet, you can flesh out each tip into a book chapter. Remember, members of your audience like to learn in at least two ways: by listening to you and by reading what you write. This podcast interview with author and speaker, Michael Angelo Caruso is from Dave Sanderson's "Daily Flash Briefing" for Amazon. Author and speaker, Dave Sanderson interviews presentation coach, Michael Angelo Caruso. Michael shares tips on how you can stand out as a presenter. It seems like everyone has a podcast and a YouTube channel these days. The best way to stand out is to differentiate your speaking style and your unique selling proposition. If everyone else is using PowerPoint, for example, consider not using it. Only use original content. If you decide to use content from other speakers and authors, be sure to provide attribution. If you're speaking on a panel, try to be the first speaker or the last speaker. Get more speaking and presentation tips at www.MichaelAngeloCaruso.com. Author and speaker, Dave Sanderson interviews, presentation coach, Michael Angelo Caruso as Michael shares tips on how you can be a better speaker. Michael says that authenticty is the key. "Good speakers are natural," says he says, "But it's difficult to be natural if you're nervous or if you don't speak very often or if you're worried about your own presentation." Ironically, we think less of ourselves when in front of a group of people. This can negatively impact our results. To improve your situatlon, consider properly rehearsing your presentation. Man speakers practice what they say, for example, but few practice body movement, expression and gestures. More information about Michael at www.MichaelAngeloCaruso.com.
