In this teaching, Pastor Matt continues our Moments Matter series with a powerful revelation on equity and union — the grace to partner with the moment. When God speaks, He doesn't just command; He supplies grace to respond. When He says give, there's grace for provision. When He says pray, there's grace for breakthrough. Peter didn't walk on water — he stood on a word. Every command from the Spirit carries its own ability to perform it.This teaching is an invitation for sons and daughters to stop striving, recognize the holy moments where grace is present, and simply lean in, surrender, and say yes.

Do you ever wonder why it feels so easy to fall off the wagon when you're chasing a goal? Why you start with excitement, maybe even momentum, but then, somewhere along the way, it starts to feel heavy, exhausting, or just plain hard, and you stop? This isn't because you lack discipline, and it definitely isn't because you'll never change. It's because of something called the motivational triad. Our brains are wired for survival. To seek pleasure, avoid pain, and conserve energy. That wiring kept our ancestors alive. But in today's world, it's also the reason it feels so much easier to grab a cookie than to meal-prep, to scroll Instagram instead of writing the book, or to stay stuck in the same routine instead of starting something new. Your brain will always offer you the path of least resistance. That's normal. That's what our brains do. The trick is learning how to work with your brain instead of letting it run the show. Today, we're talking about how you can persevere even when it gets hard, without beating yourself up, without slipping into all-or-nothing thinking, and without giving up on the life you actually want. Prawns, Perspective & Parenting: Why the Silly Moments Matter Most Sometimes the most ridiculous memories become the most meaningful. In this heartfelt Friday episode, Justin and Kylie reflect on family, connection, and the unexpected power of silly traditions—like reenacting a 50-year-old prawn-and-tomato-sauce date. From celebrating milestones to navigating teenage heartbreak, this episode reminds us that family life isn’t about perfection—it’s about showing up, being all-in, and seeing our children through a lens of love. KEY POINTS Family memories don’t have to be perfect to matter. A chaotic dinner with bad food can become a treasured story if shared with love and laughter. Perspective is everything—especially with big emotions. When a teenager's heartbreak feels overwhelming, a shift in perspective can transform frustration into compassion. Silly moments build strong families. Reenactments, impromptu plays, or saying “yes” to your child’s wild idea create connection and shared joy. The long game in parenting matters. Showing up, sticking it out, and staying connected builds legacy—not just for now, but for generations. Every child’s intensity is a strength in disguise. Big emotions may feel inconvenient in the moment—but they’re often the foundation for deep love and character. QUOTE OF THE EPISODE “We think we’re supposed to have perfect families—prawns and tomato sauce is not a perfect dish. But that’s the stuff of family.” RESOURCES MENTIONED The Parenting Revolution by Dr. Justin Coulson This is Connection – book mentioned by a listener Shift by Ethan Kross – for understanding and managing emotions happyfamilies.com.au ACTION STEPS FOR PARENTS Say Yes to the Silly Stuff When your kids ask to put on a play, reenact a moment, or share something ridiculous—join in. Shift Your Perspective If you’re feeling frustrated, try seeing the situation through someone else’s eyes—especially your child’s. Celebrate the Everyday You don’t need a 50th anniversary to make memories. Make ordinary moments extraordinary by being present. HEY REHABBERS: In this raw and powerful episode, we're diving into the unexpected gifts hidden in life's toughest moments. The struggles, setbacks, and painful experiences we often want to run from? They're the very things shaping your self-worth, resilience, and strength. I'm sharing five unconventional “negative” experiences that, when reframed, can become the foundation for a stronger, more confident you. If you've ever wondered how to turn your pain into purpose or find the lesson in the struggle, this episode is for you. What You'll Learn in This Episode: 1️⃣ Rejection: Why rejection isn't personal—it's a redirection to what's meant for you. How being told “no” builds resilience and sharpens your focus. 2️⃣ Failure: How failure exposes your strength and teaches you lessons success never could. Why falling isn't the end, but a chance to rise stronger. 3️⃣ Loneliness: Why being alone is an opportunity to reconnect with yourself. How solitude strengthens your independence and self-love. 4️⃣ Criticism: How learning to separate valid feedback from noise builds unshakable confidence. Why criticism is often a reflection of others, not a definition of you. 5️⃣ Outgrowing People: Why outgrowing relationships is a natural and necessary part of personal growth. How letting go makes space for new connections aligned with your purpose. Memorable Quotes from the Episode: "Rejection isn't failure—it's redirection to something greater." "Your worth isn't defined by how you fall, but how you rise after." "Loneliness isn't punishment—it's preparation for something bigger." "Criticism doesn't break you—it builds your ability to stand firm in who you are." "Outgrowing people isn't a loss—it's proof you're leveling up." Actionable Takeaways: Reflect on one “negative” experience in your life and write down the lesson it taught you. Practice gratitude for the struggles that made you stronger—list three ways they shaped who you are today. Let go of one belief, person, or fear that's no longer serving you to create space for growth. Call to Action: If this episode inspired you, share it with someone who needs to hear this message. It typically takes a significant (near) life tragedy to change someone's perspective. Many of us entrepreneurs are wired to achieve while neglecting our most important relationships. Imagine being in a commercial jet that is about to go crashing into the Hudson River. What would be going through your mind and how would your perspective on life change after surviving? Meet this week's guest, Dave Sanderson, who was one of those passengers on U.S Flight 1549 that successfully landed on the Hudson River. The Miracle On The Hudson as they called it. Dave was a busy executive consumed with his career with little time for his family before the incident. But after? How did you his persepective on life, family, and business change? This is a story that all busy entrepreneurs need to hear. Dave Sanderson, President of Dave Sanderson Speaks International, discusses PTG, Post Traumatic Growth and how asking a different question after a traumatic event helped transform his trauma into personal growth. · See things as they are by not attaching emotion to the meaning. · Talking about it, your trauma, telling your story gets it out of your body - you can impact others with your story. · You are alive and be happy. This he learned when he reflected on the events that transpired during Airways Flight 1549 descent and ditching (crash, as the passengers would say) into the Hudson River on January 15, 2009. What is trust? What factors make up trust? What factors make others feel trust towards us and vice versa? When the trust factor goes up, the work gets done. But how can we move towards building it authentically during times where people are more politically divided than ever before? In this week's episode, Denise Cooper interviews Pamela Brooks-Richards for her take on how we can build genuine trust in the face of change. It can feel extremely uncomfortable to say "no" to our bosses or other authority figures in our working life. What do we do when the noise in our head tells us we can't "be bad", and our nervous system gets activated in challenging work situations? Trust is not only about telling the truth and keeping promises, but it is also about being accountable and restoring trust when it is broken. Building authentic trust in the workplace takes time and effort. It requires accountability, restoration, and confidentiality. Trust is built and destroyed in small moments, so it is essential to be consistent in actions and responses.Accountability is not about micromanaging someone or holding them responsible for everything. It is about taking responsibility for your actions and admitting when you have made a mistake. If you've been looking for ways to build accountability through fostering a trusting work environment, this is the episode for you. THE FINER DETAILS OF THIS SHOWWhat is trust? I've noticed my ability to handle what we go through in the military has a direct connection to how connected I feel to my husband. He's the soldier but we're the team and we're in it together. Ideally. Because it doesn't always feel like we're actually in it together. I discovered a way, a small way, to help re-connect our marriage. If you need some encouragement from the real side of military marriage, this episode is just for you. Find Sarah on Instagram!
Proverbs 14:1 The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down. (NIV) Proverbs 27:8 A person who strays from home is like a bird that strays from its nest. Too often we find ourselves caring about what other people think of us–and that means we can care too much about my appearance. When I (Sonja) think back to when I first had kids, my "appearance" took way too much time and energy, but I thought people would look down on me if I didn't spend the time dressing up. I share some stories from the past and from more recently of how I've dealt with it all. - How much SHOULD we care about our appearance? - What is an unhealthy balance and what's a good balance? - Is makeup a sin? - Do these choices affect our children? Just a few questions we try to tackle on today's episode of Moments Matter.
This episode was inspired by a passionate educator who reminded us that moments matter not just for our students, but they matter for all educators as well. Moments such as greeting your students at the classroom door is important for the students to have a great start to their day. These moments are also very special to educators as well. This episode is a little reminder to embrace those moments and to take time and feel them. Tweet that inspired this episode. @BrittneyMohrWe tend to talk about the positive effects on students while greeting them at the door. Why have we not talked about the positivity for teachers? There is a special moment that happens everyday with every student while greeting them at the door. Moments matter!
