This week, Features co-director Jessi D speaks with Carrie Shemanski and Crispin Torres of Chicago-based surf rock band Wolfman. They discuss how they met through performing in various cover bands across Chicago, taking a risk and shredding with new friends, recording their debut five-song EP The Wolfman Agenda at Electrical Audio, and the upcoming Shemanskifest, a celebration of Carrie's birthday in which she tries to perform in as many bands as possible. "So here we are with my band - I couldn't believe it. I was like, people who know how to play instruments also want to play my songs? What a dream!" - Carrie Shemanski Wolfman will be debuting their new EP at Shemanskifest on Friday, March 29, 2024 at the Burlington Bar. Produced by Jessi D. Photo Credit: Fotio
It's our end-of-season special. Just before Christmas 2020, we spoke to the lovely Sam (@kinda_cool, voice of undead Viserion and undead Ned Umber, presenter of Cry Wolf Pod & featured in the Burlington Bar videos). In the second half of this two-parter interview, we went deep on season 8 and found out just what Sam thought of those final six episodes. Please listen to Cry Wolf if you haven't already: https://crywolfpod.podbean.com/
"Sean TankTop" is a Youtuber with over 137.7M (yes, one hundred and thirty-seven POINT SEVEN MILLION) views on his channel, which rose to huge popularity initially due to his viral Game of Thrones reactions in the Burlington Bar out in Chicago, IL. He is one of three voices on "The Watchers in the Bar" podcast, where they discuss and review popular media - including Star Wars, Trek, and various other popular franchises. In our discussion, Sean and I discuss video game culture, woefully low expectations put on men in normatively cis-male dominant contexts in terms of their behavior, and chat about our own stories and journies to be better men. We also discuss how we first learned about sex, summer camp romances, and how we need to normalize better discussions even in places like bars and proverbial "boy's clubs" so we can challenge ourselves to be better. This was a fun one and I hope you enjoy it!
