First came the "Bug Eye" Baja kit, pioneered by Miller-Havens and helping launch a whole new look for off-road Volkswagens. But the evolution of the Baja Bug was just getting started. After finding success with the Sandwinder dune buggy, Don Rountree and R&H Fiberglass turned their attention to fiberglass bodywork for the Volkswagen Beetle. Around 1972, Sandwinder introduced what would become one of the most recognizable Baja Bug designs of the era—the "Wide Eye" Baja kit. Instead of mounting the headlights close together in the nose like the earlier Bug Eye kits, the Wide Eye moved them outward into the fenders, creating the classic Baja look that would influence countless builds for decades. But there's a lot more to the story. On this episode of Let's Talk Dubs, we dig into the history behind Sandwinder and the people responsible for developing these early fiberglass kits. We hear how a sponsorship helped open the door, how the success of the Sandwinder buggy led to new opportunities, and how Burly became involved in designing everything from a '32 Ford-inspired kit to the now-iconic Wide Eye Baja kit. It's a fascinating piece of early Volkswagen off-road, dune buggy, and Baja Bug history, from the days when builders were experimenting with fiberglass and creating designs that would permanently change the look of the VW Beetle. If you're into vintage Baja Bugs, Sandwinder buggies, early fiberglass VW kits, desert racing, off-road Volkswagens, or the history of the Southern California VW scene, this episode fills in an important chapter of how the Baja Bug evolved from the original Bug Eye into the Wide Eye design we still recognize today. www.vwtrendsmagazine.com www.rosswulf.com www.hotvws.com www.letstalkdubs.com
Every week, two of the Best Fans in Baseball (TM) bring you all the news and analysis you need about the St. Louis Cardinals. The Cards came out of the trade deadline gate firing on most cylinders, winning series against the Yankees and the Rockies. Is that enough to get the playoffs hopes firing again? Daniel (@C70) and David (@iPopEditor) debate that topic and if they are willing to get hurt again. The guys also talk about Alec Burleson's role in the Cardinals future, wondering if he's a core player. They are pretty sure Matthew Liberatore is not one, but what does the future hold for him? Then they gush on the minors a bit and deal with a hard question. Come join us!

It's Victory Monday on the Shotgun Start! Andy and Brendan are without PJ as the young lad takes in a Lions-Giants game. They get into the Big Fin, Sami Valimaki winning the RSM Classic and some amusing comments from DL3 about the next 15 years at the event where no changes are planned. They also discuss the bubble boys, including one Jordan Spieth, who missed the AON Next 10 by less than a point but will likely get a sponsor's spot anyways to Pebble Beach. There's a rousing LIV segment after Jose Ballester won the Saudi International and the hot stove heated up, including some Asian Tour grads, an Abe Ancer trade, and unsub rumors on a run at a potential Magic Stick. There's also an amusing detail from some recent LIV GM meetings. They close with the LPGA's CME Championship and an underwhelming season getting a deserving winner in Jeeno Thitikul. They also discuss the momentum the LPGA might have with Craig Kessler and how they can bottle it for some long term success and stability.

Brenden Schaeffer discusses the Cardinals 5-2 win over the Rays on Wednesday night at Busch Stadium as Erick Fedde did what he had to do in his home debut as a Cardinal. Fedde had to grind through a couple long innings but he limited damage and got through 5 innings of one-run baseball to set the Cardinal bullpen up for success in the late innings. A key component of the win was the Cardinals coming through with a few clutch hits with RISP -- one of those hits came from Alec Burleson who swung the bat great all night, possibly being fueled by meeting a childhood idol before the game? We'll explain how Randy Orton influenced the Cardinals win and go into the clubhouse to hear from the always entertaining Burly! Follow this podcast feed for daily Cardinals content all year long!

Welcome back Madi!!!! And welcome back Park Pals to the SEASON FINALE!!!! I'm calling this the Deleted Scenes extravaganza because there were so many juicy cut moments! (Ron bringing his own whiskey and taking a shrimp plate, a lot of amazing guest stars, why Chris thinks it's okay to ask Ann if he can sleep with Jen again - gross) First, we catch up a bit with Madi going over some motherhood moments, then dive deep with an exciting promo from back when this originally aired (almost to the exact date) - this aired on May 10, 2012 and we recorded May 11, 2024!
Burly shows that the woods aren't always a safe place even for seasoned hunters, and Phil leaves a shindig early to get to a hunt — only to be left behind. Jase gives up the first bird jewelry of the season to a novice, but Missy's praise of him in the grocery store soothes his ego. The guys explore the agony of Jesus on the night of his arrest, as well as multiple accounts of his confrontation with Judas in the garden of Gethsemane and at the last supper. In this episode: Luke 22, verses 39-52; Matthew 28, verses 18-20; Matthew 26, verses 21-25; Mark 16, verse 16; Romans 15, verses 4-7 https://samaritanministries.org/unashamed — Get a biblical & affordable approach to health care https://philmerch.com — Get your “Unashamed” mugs, shirts, hats & hoodies! https://ICouldBeWrongButIDoubtIt.com — Get a free chapter of Phil Robertson's new book before it's released! — Learn more about your ad choices. It's all fun and games on the Cadillac Jack: My Second Act podcast. Until it's not. Donna starts us off with a recent episode of big burly men. Caddy responds that it kind of makes him want some new luggage. You know, to leave town. Then we talk about Chase Rice and some other wintery country music artists. Donna brings up what everyone (besides Cadillac Jack) is talking about - Saltburn. No spoilers here, but you will probably want to go watch it after this episode. Just do it cautiously. We round the corner going through Caddy's recent accidents and road disputes. We have to cut it off because of the time limit. You get it. Honk the horn. 7704646024.
Uncle Si is joined by Phil and Miss Kay Robertson and Burly as they tell each other stories about their rough days and how they turned their lives around together. This Wednesday episode begins with the somber news of an Aaron Rodgers injury and a hypothetical on 24-hours of disaster at MetLife stadium. Then Brendan and Andy move to three things from social media in the last couple days 1) Tiger out there on a range, swinging some clubs (lightly) in public, 2) the off-the-bus intimidating burliness of the team picture for Europe during its scouting day in Rome, and 3) the PGA Tour's “tough spot” regarding even the acknowledgment of one of the country's great tragedies. The schedule for the week is back, with some thoughts on the Fortinet field and ample discussion on the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth, a place Billy Horschel said he'd prefer to play for “25” events a year. Billy had a lot to say, including pleas for more Americans to play it and also that the trees make it feel like there are even more fans watching. News hits on Gil Hanse renovating Spanish Bay, USGA championships coming to Prairie Dunes, and more.
The famous Burly finally makes his first “Unashamed” appearance! Jase recalls the time he used to work for Burly as a roofer and how Burly was able to master his hot temper thanks to Jesus' influence, and the guys put together all the pieces on how Burly and his family fit into the Robertson family. Jay Stone has a titillating story about a pretty, small woman who whooped Burly in jiu jitsu until Burly was crying for mercy! John-David gives a small update on the Honey Hole thief and Martin is incensed about his nefarious nightly visitor.
