My guest today is Lydia Liebman, founder and CEO of Lydia Liebman Promotions, a boutique public relations agency and consulting firm based in New York City, and London. Their roster of artists is mind-blowing from Orrin Evans, Emma Frank, Ben Wolfe, Brandee Younger, The Curtis Brother, Roxy Coss, Ralph Peterson, the list seems endless, so I'll leave it there. In our interview, we talk about how she got involved in the business side of Jazz, how she grew her company from helping out some friends to representing some of the biggest names in Jazz, what young musicians who are just starting out can do proactively before they are ready for representation, and much more. Lydia is both a guardian of the tradition and a trailblazer of new directions, with a perspective that is definitely worth checking out. www.lydialiebman.com
New York singer Emma Frank talks about her latest single which is a cover, Emma loved the lyrics to the cover, but she has totally changed the music. She talks about her global musical influences which include Hanne Hukkelberg, Becca Stevens and Simon & Garfunkel. Emma's natural voice is folkie, simple and unaffected. Jazz music has helped her learn to improvise. She explains as an artist that heart felt intimacy in her work is very important to her. http://emmafrankmusic.com/ #RadioGorgeous #Music #GorgeousEntertainment

The mobi-mat has revolutionized beach access for handicapped visitors in Yorktown. The mat is a plastic "boardwalk" that allows wheelchairs to go all the way to the water's edge. Today, we're talking with the woman who got the initiative rolling. We'll also talk about Camp Grom, designed for wounded veterans, families of the fallen, and adults and children with disabilities or special needs. Later, Victorian Slum House is the PBS equivalent of reality television. The new series follows show participants as they try to survive life in London’s East End tenements as their ancestors did years ago. Could you live the life of the poor in Victorian England? We’re talking with director Emma Frank about the process of bringing the show to life. Join us at 440-2665.

We're entering the final stretch of 2013 but not letting up one bit. This week, we say goodbye to Montreal scene fixtures Sweet Mother Logic. We also talk about the beautiful sounds of Erik Lind & The Orchard, Emma Frank, Lindi Ortega, and Sean Nicholas Savage, then get rowdy with Hiroshima Shadows and Canadian grindcore legends Fuck the Facts. As always, it's a mixed bag -- the delicious kind. Podcast | Get the podcast here. iTunes | Add the Weekend Playlist Podcast to iTunes. RSS | Add the Weekend Playlist Podcast feed to your RSS Reader.
