How you got here is less important than what you do next. That single sentence captures the heart of this week's conversation with Jeremy Stalnecker. Jeremy is a former Marine Corps Infantry Officer, author, speaker, and the Executive Director of the Mighty Oaks Foundation - a nonprofit helping veterans, first responders, and families heal from trauma and rediscover purpose. In this episode, Jeremy and I talk about what happens when your identity is built around what you do and that chapter suddenly ends. He shares openly about his own spiral after leaving the Marine Corps, losing his sense of self, and how he found his way back through faith, humility, and the people who were willing to tell him the hard truth. We unpack what it means to take radical responsibility for your life, how to begin again after failure or loss, and why leadership is never about control. We also explore the difference between purpose and profession, what it really means to forgive and surrender, and how to stay the course when transformation takes longer than expected. If you've ever felt stuck between who you were and who you're becoming, this conversation will remind you that the next step is always available.Click HERE to watch this episode on YouTube. If this episode resonated with you, please subscribe, leave a review, and share it with someone who needs to hear this. I’ve been prone to announce on my first set of monthly new release episodes that it’s devoted to “friends of the show”. But that’s not to say that part two doesn’t include my rock and roll pals. No, no, no. In fact, the second episode always involves a lengthy set devoted to my super special friends at Rum Bar Records. Malibu Lou has always been so supportive of The Ledge, and has always ensured that I have copies of everything his wonderful label releases. This month’s show is no different, and along with the usual lengthy set of their newest tracks I have a couple of independently-released records by artists affiliated with Rum Bar. Both Brad Marino and The Prozacs have fantastic new tracks out that I’m happy to spin tonight. There’s also a plethora of female-led rock and roll this week, starting off with our friends The Silent Treatment and their new track “Repeat Catastrophe”. There’s also the latest “supergroup” Snocaps, led by Katie and Allison Crutchfield, along with The Belair Lip Bombs, The High Frequencies, and many more. Oh yeah, and the long-awaited return of Thee Headcoatees! What’s your favorite tune this week? For more info, including setlists, […]

Dan just happened to be employed by an ambulance company that was used in this daring prison break that captivated America in the 1980's.https://wildbluepress.com/chassons-run-daniel-zimmerman-true-crime/Chasson's Run Is a gripping true crime tale that will leave you on the edge of your seat. On September 6, 1982, convicted murderer Leroy James Chasson made a daring break for freedom from the Massachusetts Correctional Institute-Walpole-one of the most infamous, escape-proof prisons in the country. But this wasn't just any prison break. It was a meticulously planned, five-year effort, made possible by an unlikely accomplice-Kathleen MacDonald, Chasson's former pen-pal turned wife.In this riveting account, true crime author Daniel Zimmerman (SHOTS IN THE DARK) brings the shocking escape to life, detailing how Chasson, wounded and bleeding from self-inflicted wounds was first transferred to a hospital for treatment. Then, using a .45 automatic smuggled to him by his wife who was disguised as a nurse, took hospital guards and staff hostage, before fleeing under a hail of gunfire.Dubbed the "Bonnie and Clyde" of Massachusetts, the couple's daring run across the country captivated the nation and they would evade capture for years. Living under assumed identities, they nearly made it-until a tip from America's Most Wanted led to their eventual capture in 1989.In CHASSON'S RUN, Zimmerman creates a true crime masterpiece. A story of passion, crime, and a love that defied the law.Daniel Zimmerman, the author of the action-packed saga Shots in the Dark, has added a highly anticipated second book to his True Crime resume. In Chasson's Run, Zimmerman chronicles the notorious escape of convicted killer Leroy James Chasson from Massachusetts Walpole State Prison. Armed with equal parts ingenuity, guile and a .45 automatic, Chasson took flight from a hospital ER with his accomplice wife at his side, leading authorities on a seven-year pursuit. As a former Emergency Medical Technician, working for the ambulance firm tasked with treating and transporting prison inmates, Zimmerman had direct access to a number of first-hand eyewitness accounts of the escape. When he's not working area ice rinks and sidelines writing sports for local newspapers, Zimmerman enjoys travel and spending time with his two grandchildren. He lives on the North Shore of Boston with his wife of forty years.Filed Under: Chasson's Run, New Releases, True Crime BooksTagged With: America's Most Wanted stories, Bonnie and Clyde true story, convict on the run, crime and passion stories, criminal couples on the run, daring prison break book, dramatic true crime, escape from maximum security prison, famous prison breaks, fugitive manhunt book, high-stakes escapes, law and justice books, nonfiction crime stories, outlaw couple nonfiction, prison escape true story, real life crime thrillers, true crime books, true crime escape stories, true crime love stories"Sorry folks, but I gotta go."Author Daniel Zimmerman

In his novel China Running Dog, a young man in his early twenties lives in Shanghai in the year 2000, in a greed-crazed free-for-all moral and lawless vacuum created by the Chinese Communist Party. Johnny Trent, small-time entrepreneur from Basildon in the UK, ends up in China, where he meets Felix Fawcett-Smith, fresh off the boat and from the other side of the tracks. An unlikely friendship begins.Johnny impresses the well-bred Felix with his street smarts until Felix takes Johnny's advice too literally – and too far – and slips into Shanghai's murky underbelly. He enters a world where the Party, power, and connections to them, are all that matter, where criminals are given sainthoods and saints sent to hell.Johnny tries to stop Felix's spiral, not least because Felix is taking a sweet, angelic girl, Anita, down with him and Johnny has feelings for Anita that he has never dared to put into words. But Felix thinks he knows best. Like Johnny, all he wants is respect. It's up to Johnny to save whoever he can, besides himself.Books mentioned in this podcast: Shanghai Baby by Wei Hui, Shanghai by Richie Yokomitsu (transl. They are blueprints of how justice, though often delayed, is never truly denied. They got away with murder—until they didn't.Dennis Carson is the author of the critically acclaimed Bonded Thru Injustice, a groundbreaking true crime account rooted in the first federal death penalty case ever tried in Orange County, California. With over four decades of experience collaborating with forensic specialists, law enforcement officials, and investigative journalists, Carson's work is characterized by its meticulous research and unwavering commitment to the truth. His latest book, Every Killer Leaves A Trace, furthers his mission to expose not only the killers who evade justice but also the systemic failures that enable them to do so.Filed Under: Every Killer Leaves A Trace, New Releases, True Crime BooksTagged With: autopsy reports true crime, catching killers, Cold case investigations, courtroom true crime, criminal investigations nonfiction, Criminal Psychology, famous killers caught, famous murder cases, fbi case files, forensic breakthroughs, forensic science true crime, murder investigation books, police investigation books, profiling serial killers, real crime stories, serial killer books, True Crime, true crime bestsellers, true detective stories, unsolved murders true crimeAbout Author Dennis Carson: Thankfully, writing this book was like in Billiards when the eight ball isn't looming in front of me, blocking every shot. I was going through the motions of selecting songs for the planned two new release episodes for November, and I quickly realized that I had way too many songs! What a problem to have, right? So for the first time, this month’s new release series will be three full episodes! Yes, I know earlier this year I had some leftovers for a third episode, but I’m talking about three full shows of new tunes! Tonight’s episode, like most “part 1’s”, is primarily devoted to friends of the show. These are artists and labels that routinely send me their newest tunes. Like Numb Surprise, who have sent me tracks each and every month this year. Or the latest Rob Moss and Skin-Tight Skin double cover series, where he and a fellow artist cover each other. There’s also the latest from power pop legend Jim Basnight, a new Big Stir release, and even some baseball-related tracks from our buddies Vista Blue. Plus there’s quite a few new power pop faves, and a nice batch of garage, punk, and indie rock. Oh yeah, and a deep dive into that new Husker Du live box set. What tracks did you did? For more info, […]
