The apostle Paul loved Timothy and trained him to be a powerful preacher. Although all of Paul's writings are faithful, being inspired by the Holy Spirit, he emphasizes five sayings to Timothy by calling them faithful sayings. In this sermon Gary examines these sayings to encourage us to be what God wants us to be both in our behavior and belief (Col. 3:16-17). Frequently people come to Gary and tell him their concerns about questionable things happening in Churches and morally. He passionately deals with some of these here to inform you and give advice from God's word. We'd love to hear from you so feel free to reach out to us. Thanks for listening!

If there is a God, most of us think we could do a better job—we think we’re nicer than God, more tolerant, we wanna give Him a few pointers. We wanna help God rule the world, cause He doesn’t seem to know what He’s doing. This is a trustworthy saying: 2nd Timothy 2:8–13 Join us Sunday: http://www.newchurchtexas.com/contact Support this ministry: http://easytithe.com/NCTX
Who are we supposed to trust? Who’s trustworthy? We don’t trust the news. We don’t trust politicians. We certainly don’t trust preachers—at least not if we don’t know them! We don’t know who to trust or what to believe. As a culture, we need something true we can put our faith in. Something we can trust. Something we can believe in. There are five times in the Bible that the Apostle Paul says something that’s so foundational—he basically says, “look, if you don’t hear anything else I’m saying—hear this! This is true. This is trustworthy. This is a faithful saying.” Here’s the first one: 1 Timothy 1:15 “This is a trustworthy saying, and everyone should accept it: “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners.” Grace is a scandal. The fifth and final saying is really a subset of sayings. However, they relay this simple concept: To be identified with Him (Jesus) is to be identified by Him.
The fourth saying can be summed up in this phrase: Disciplines position us for destiny. Discipline doesn't earn us anything but it does position us to received some things.
Within the Pastoral Epistles are five "faithful sayings." These are in essence trustworthy doctrines that had become commonplace due to the repetition of their preaching and teaching. The first looked at here is that Jesus came to save sinners.
Faithful Sayings - Part 2: A few more of these faithful sayings or doctrines are as follows: preaching produces a working disciple and a good work follows a God-given desire.
