What if one of the clearest signs that we belong to Jesus is not comfort but opposition? In this message by Pastor Paul Gates, we continue our journey through the Beatitudes and discover the surprising blessing Jesus speaks over those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake. Instead of being viewed as a sign that God has abandoned us, these moments can become powerful reminders that we belong to His Kingdom and are walking in His ways. Pastor Paul encourages us with the bold faith of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. Through their courage, we are reminded that God is present with His people in persecution to strengthen them and sustain them. Join us as we explore how joy can coexist with sorrow and how the promise of the Kingdom of God gives us the courage to stand firm. No matter what challenges we face, we are invited to trust the One who stands by our side in the fire and promises a reward that can never be taken away.

Listen as Pastor Paul shares three ways Jesus reveals God's immeasurable power followed by three action steps for us
This episode of the Power Talk Podcast features Pastor Paul sharing a deeply personal near‑death experience that unfolded after what was supposed to be a simple medical procedure. Within 36 hours, unexpected internal bleeding escalated into a life‑threatening emergency. He describes passing out multiple times, losing large amounts of blood, and reaching a critical hemoglobin level that required a transfusion and emergency surgery.Throughout the ordeal, Pastor Paul emphasizes two themes:(1) the unmistakable peace he felt from God even as his body was shutting down, and(2) the way God orchestrated details—his wife waking up, his EMT son being home, and the timing of medical help—to preserve his life.He recounts moments of clarity where he spoke what he believed could be his final words to his children, urging them to stay faithful so they would meet him “on the other side.” In the hospital, he and his wife found themselves ministering to others, praying for patients and nurses, and experiencing a supernatural calm.A major revelation came when he sensed God telling him that “life is not precious without Me.” Watching a cancer survivor on TV speak fearfully about almost missing out on life, Pastor Paul realized that true life isn't defined by earthly experiences, relationships, or accomplishments—but by knowing and serving God. This insight reshaped how he viewed mortality, purpose, and what truly matters.
Pastor Paul started a new series this week, "Faith of our Fathers," to coincide with the 250th anniversary of America. For 8 weeks he will be preaching sermons from the Great Awakening and the Revolutionary Era. In this sermon he expounded on the history leading up to the Revolutionary War and how clergy and biblical truths set the foundation for a new country being formed.

In this message from 1 Kings 4, Pastor Paul walks through Solomon's reign at its peak and the theme that a greater King than Solomon has already come. Even Solomon's remarkable wisdom and glory pointed forward to something it could never fully be. Scripture presents Solomon as a living foreshadowing of Christ, and Jesus himself made that connection explicit when he told the Pharisees that something greater than Solomon was standing right in front of them. The peace Solomon's name promises finds its true fulfillment in Jesus, the Prince of Peace whose kingdom has no end.

What is God really like when you actually stop and ask the question? Not the version of God you grew up with, not the one shaped by your worst memory of church, but the God who actually exists. That is the question this sermon walks straight into.Pastor Paul opens with something most of us never stop to do. He asks you to picture God in your mind. Is he a man? Does he have a beard? Is he disappointed? Is he smiling? Most of us have built a picture of God somewhere along the way, but very few of us have ever held that picture up next to what God actually says about himself in the Bible. And that gap matters, because what comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us.This message moves into Exodus 33 and 34, where Moses asks God one of the boldest questions in scripture. Show me your glory. God answers in a way nobody expects. He tells Moses he will cause all his goodness to pass in front of him and proclaim his name. Then God describes himself as compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, forgiving wickedness, rebellion, and sin, yet not leaving the guilty unpunished.Pastor Paul unpacks the tension most of us feel here. How can God be both holy and gracious? Both great and good? Both the God of thunder, lightning, and smoke on Mount Sinai in Exodus 19, and the God who speaks his name in mercy in Exodus 34? Pastor Paul holds these two truths together the way they were always meant to be held, not as a contradiction, but as a paradox that gives the Christian life its power. The greatness of God keeps us from sin. The goodness of God draws us back when we have.If you have ever wondered whether God is loving or angry, present or distant, near or far, this teaching offers a careful, pastoral, biblical answer. Pastor Paul leans on Augustine, A.W. Tozer, and the language of scripture itself to help you see a God who is both impossibly great and unbelievably good at the same time. This message is for the believer who has settled into one side of God's character and forgotten the other. It is for the skeptic who has only met an angry version of God and never the gracious one. It is for the deconstructing Christian quietly asking, who is God really. And it is for anyone in pain right now wondering if God is paying attention.

Pastor Paul and Campus Pastor Matthew explore what the Millennial Reign of Christ is according to Scripture, focusing on Revelation 20 and related prophetic passages. They explain that the millennial reign is a literal 1,000‑year period that begins after Jesus returns at the Battle of Armageddon, defeats His enemies, and establishes His throne in Jerusalem.During this thousand‑year era:Satan is bound and unable to tempt or deceive humanity.Jesus rules the earth from Jerusalem in perfect justice and righteousness.Believers who were resurrected or raptured will be in glorified bodies and will rule and reign with Christ.Survivors of the tribulation who enter the millennium in natural bodies will repopulate the earth and still have free will. The earth itself will be restored to a pre‑flood, Eden‑like environment — stable climate, abundant life, and global peace. At the end of the 1,000 years, Satan is released briefly, deceives the nations one last time, and is finally judged and cast into the lake of fire. This leads into the Great White Throne Judgment and the beginning of eternity with a new heaven and new earth. The pastors emphasize that while some details are mysterious, Scripture gives enough to understand the broad outline — and the millennial reign is meant to reveal God's justice, Christ's kingship, and the final removal of evil.
Pastor Paul continued in The Holy Spirit series and taught the attributes that accompany believers who live in the presence of God. What are they and how to they manifest themselves? Listen to find out.
Simeon and I were recently challenged as we heard Pastor Paul and Mrs. Terrie Chappell from Lancaster Baptist Church reflect on their 40 years of ministry. As they were sharing different ways God has opened doors for the Gospel, the conversation kept turning back to hospitality. We were reminded once again how important this aspect of life is for believers! We have seen hospitality have a huge Gospel impact during our time of ministry in Australia. I share some stories of how God used simple things like our kitchen table and a homecooked meal to see a life changed for Christ!
