Jennifer L. Place is the author of "Building 51," a fictional book about a group of friends that explore the abandoned Hudson River State Hospital for the Insane. The building has a dark history of murders and suicides. It's a real place in Poughkeepsie where horrific and barbaric procedures were performed to "treat" patients with mental illnesses.
