Especial agosto: el héroe por accidente Abrimos la Trastienda de Shadowlands, edición verano, seguimos con la serie de programas breves en los que Arturo comenta cómo adaptar algunos arquetipos de ficción al rol, Hoy, esa persona que preferiría estar en cualquier otro lugar haciendo cualquier otra cosa, el héroe por accidente. Este tipo de personaje no comenzó su travesía buscando la gloria, el poder ni el reconocimiento. No fue entrenado para el combate ni guiado por una profecía. Es alguien común —o que al menos lo era— cuando una serie de circunstancias inesperadas lo empujaron al centro de la acción. Lo interesante del héroe por accidente es cómo refleja la transformación forzada. La aventura no lo eligió por virtud, sino por coincidencia, necesidad o azar. Su evolución no está marcada por la ambición, sino por la adaptación, el descubrimiento de sus propias fortalezas y, a veces, por el simple deseo de volver a casa. Cuando hablamos de un forastero en el contexto de un juego de rol, nos referimos a un personaje que no pertenece al lugar, comunidad o entorno donde se desarrolla la aventura, pero que no necesariamente es un extranjero en términos de nacionalidad o cultura amplia. La clave está en reflejar la condición de alguien fuera de sitio, que aporta una mirada diferente, a veces desconfiada o misteriosa, y que puede tener antecedentes, motivaciones o formas de actuar diferentes a los locales. An encrypted patch for 11.2.5 has been discovered on test realms, suggesting we're heading toward an expansion announcement potentially as early as August. With our current position in 11.1.5, and 11.1.7 on the immediate horizon, the pace of development indicates Blizzard has big plans for the remainder of 2024.The base UI system remains a focal point of concern as Blizzard appears to be slowly moving away from add-on dependency. While the Dragonflight overhaul was impressive, high-level players still find themselves needing add-ons like WeakAuras, BigDebuffs, and arena-specific tools to track crucial information. The recent cooldown manager addition tracks abilities many don't need while ignoring critical buffs that experienced players want to monitor. If Blizzard truly wants to reduce add-on reliance, they need to allow for more comprehensive customization of the base UI, particularly for PvP and high-end PvE content.Perhaps most frustrating for competitive players is the current state of PvP ratings. Many experienced players have noticed significant MMR deflation compared to previous expansions – achievements like 2700 rating in Shadowlands feel impossible now, despite improved skills. The disparity between Solo Shuffle (which appears to have MMR injection) and traditional Arena formats creates confusion and disappointment. What's missing is clear communication from Blizzard about these systems, something the PvP community desperately wants. While PvE content receives detailed attention and frequent updates, PvP players often feel left in the dark regarding the systems that impact their gameplay experience. As ratings have deflated by nearly 1,000 points since Shadowlands, achievements that were once attainable now feel impossibly distant for many dedicated players. The current system essentially punishes early-season participation, creating a barren landscape where queue times grow longer and matchmaking becomes increasingly unbalanced.Why struggle against multi-gladiator opponents at 2200 rating when waiting until season's end means facing less skilled opponents at the same rating? This perverse incentive structure has created a vicious cycle: fewer players participate during most of the season, leading to worse matchmaking, which further discourages participation. Even as someone who climbed to Gladiator in Shadowlands, I find myself facing significantly more challenging competition at lower ratings in the current environment.What's particularly disheartening is the stark contrast between PvE and PvP development. Each patch brings new raids, dungeon rotations, and features like Delves, while PvP receives minimal attention. When new patches are announced, competitive play often merits mere seconds of discussion before moving on to PvE content. Even community resources like Wowhead provide extensive class guides that completely omit PvP considerations.The solution could be as simple as adopting systems that have proven successful in other competitive games. An Overwatch-style rating structure with clear thresholds for achievements would encourage consistent participation throughout the season and make alt play more appealing.
