Dr. Brandy Stark started the SPIRITS of St. Petersburg in 1997, when she first started her academic research into the role of the liminal. She took her research to conferences and expanded into studying the lore and legends of Tampa Bay. She was able to utilize her connections at the University of South Florida to do her first official ghost hunt in 1999, which she later wrote up as an article for the USFSP student paper, The Crow's Nest. From there, she did talks in the local community and met other individuals curious about the supernatural. She officially founded the SPIRITS of St. Petersburg paranormal investigation team in 2000, and it remains an active group today. Over the years, she has done approximately 400 investigations locally, nationally, and internationally on her own and with her team. Stark's goal is to involve the community in the research so that others can distinguish natural causes from those of more questionable origin. She has worked to create a reasonable and compassionate view of the supernatural world by integrating ideas and academic discussions of symbolism, cultural interpretation, and respect for others (dead or living). She is the host for the Paranormal Pets podcast now at over 110 episodes. Stark also authored a book on local paranormal phenomena called "Supernatural Saint Petersburg and Paranormal Pinellas." In addition, she is the guide for the "Shadows in the Sunshine" walking ghost tour of downtown St. Petersburg. Ruth was born in Paris, France, in the 1960's, to parents who were in the armed forces and were stationed there.For most of her career, she has been a Civil Servant, working predominantly investigating theft and fraud and latterly harassment, bullying and discrimination. Lynda Quirino has been in the paranormal field for 43 years, and has experienced unexplained phenomena all of her life. At 18 years of age, she began to investigate the paranormal while at Vanier college in her hometown of Montreal, and also during her years at McGill University. She continued to research and investigate on her own until relocating to the Toronto area in 1986. From 1986 to 1996, she continued to work primarily on her own, investigating local hauntings and paranormal issues until, in 1997, she became the Assistant Director of the Toronto Ghosts and Hauntings Research Society. Lynda left the TGHRS in 2003, and once again worked “freelance” in the field, concentrating on investigating and researching local cases. After giving a presentation on ghosts and hauntings at the local library in Georgina, Ontario, the town where she now resides, Lynda realized that the need for a paranormal team was very much needed. In 2012, she founded The Georgina Paranormal Society. Currently, Lynda is the Executive Director of the Georgina Paranormal Society, and appears on the television show “Paranormal Survivor” as one of its paranormal “Experts”. She has appeared on many paranormal podcasts, radio, and local television shows, currently hosting a weekly cable lifestyle show (“Georgina Life”) in her now hometown of Georgina, Ontario, Canada. Retired teacher David J. Pitkin has been intrigued by mysteries throughout his life. His personal search for meaning was stimulated by a bout with cancer in 1973. From that event onward, fascinated by the workings of the unconscious mind and on the growing evidence for consciousness surviving body death, he has written five books of researched ghost stories. He studied dream analysis with Dr. Montague Ullman, and believes that dreams of the deceased are often genuine "contact experiences." He lectures widely on parapsychology themes, including ghost stories and near-death experiences. His best collection of New England ghost stories is found in Ghosts of the Northeast (2002), which has sold over 25,000 copies and in his 2010 book, New England Ghosts. Pitkin has served as a professional numerologist and spiritual counselor, using his degree in Counseling Psychology (Goddard College, 1990) to analyze peoples' dreams, personalities and spiritual goals. His book, Spiritual Numerology: Caring for Number One, outlining his unique numerological analytical system, was published in 2000. Though he considers the phenomenon of ghosts to contain the very serious principles on which life begins and ends, he often regales audiences with the humorous that so often accompanies ghost experiences. Pitkin's motto is "Enlighten, Don't Frighten," as he stimulates readers and listeners to ponder the profound issues surrounding death-and life, an unquenchable life that continues on into eternity. He frequently appears on radio and television, addressing issues of the strange phenomena and the unseen world around us. In 2006 Pitkin completed Adirondack Journey, Glens Falls TV-8's series on haunts in the Adirondacks. His updated Saratoga County book, Haunted Saratoga County, was published in 2005, and has become another local best seller. He published New York State Ghosts, Volume 1 in 2006, and Volume 2 in October, 2008, and is currently preparing a third volume in that series. He has found that more people than one would suspect are interested in their life's ending and want it to be a happy one, and he offers suggestions on how to achieve that. His first novel, The Highest Mountain: Death & Life in the Adirondacks, was published in June 2007, and Pitkin is currently working on a sequel, The Explorer: An Adirondack Search, due out in 2014.
