Beacon building draws Planning Board's ire For the second straight month, Beacon Planning Board Chair John Gunn blasted the 364 Main St. development team on Tuesday (July 14) as the board parsed discrepancies between the nearly complete building and plans approved four years earlier. According to a spreadsheet submitted by the Poughkeepsie-based Baxter group, which purchased the property in 2024, at least 21 features on the fenced-off structure deviate from the approved site plan. Some changes were made to architectural drawings that were approved when building permits were issued, project officials said. Others were "field changes" approved, sometimes verbally, by city officials onsite. A final category listed applicant/contractor changes. The changes range from window-sill sizes and detailing and the installation of sidewall vents to more noticeable deviations such as the replacement of fire-rated windows with solid walls in stairwells and in a rooftop lobby. In another instance, standard double windows were installed instead of Juliet balconies. A patio at the front of the building was modified because the floor height and Main Street sidewalk were not accurately represented on drawings. Steps and gates next to the adjacent Masjid Ur Rashid mosque were on the site plan but never constructed. A canopy over the residential entrance was removed, with a recessed entryway constructed in its place. Custom wood windows with decorative trim on the storefront were replaced with aluminum windows with insulated metal panels. At least one change — replacing the approved thin-brick veneer with full-depth bricks — likely enhances structural integrity, though it's unclear whether the city approved it. "I've looked at the timeline," said Jason Anderson, the president of ADG Architects, a firm recently hired by Baxter. "The contractor came in, got the building permit and built what was on the drawings, with the exception of the field changes. We have a finished painting that we're trying now to correct." The inconsistencies infuriated Gunn, who acknowledged he was repeating himself. "Do you understand the position that this applicant put the city in?" he asked, his voice rising. "This is a goddamn mess, and you're asking us to help you fix a giant mistake. This is an ugly building. It's built poorly. It looks horrible." Pointing at diagrams, he shouted: "It's not what we approved!" The issues have also derailed the tenants who expected to occupy the building's 8,800 square feet of commercial space and 20 apartments. The owner of Pure Physique, a gym set to open on the first floor, said in a letter to the board that she has had to provide membership refunds while absorbing the financial impact "of a business that is fully prepared to open but is unable to operate." Most of the apartments had been rented, project attorney Taylor Palmer said, but about 25 percent of the tenants pulled out because the building lacks a certificate of occupancy. After more than an hour of back-and-forth, the developer agreed to confer in a work session with the city's consultants. "We need better ideas," Gunn said. The board could vote as early as next month on a proposal to convert a two-story brick building to a karaoke bar called The Howl. The project has received pushback from nearby residents, but Gunn said Tuesday that a city consultant agreed that the applicant's plans to mitigate noise "appear to be very robust." Eric Weitner, the applicant, said he had scaled back operating hours to 2 to 11 p.m. on Wednesday, 2 p.m. to midnight on Thursday, noon to 1:30 a.m. Friday and Saturday and noon to 11 p.m. on Sunday. Sundays will no longer revert to Saturday hours on holiday weekends. There will be no parking in the rear of the building, which adjoins the residential neighborhood. Responding to public concerns, Weitner said staff at The Howl will conduct "perimeter checks" five times per eight-hour shift to keep patrons from congregating outside. Security ca...

Town board also finalizing rental law A survey of Philipstown residents found little support for a tax on home purchases that would fund the purchase of open spaces, wildlife habitats and other natural resources, according to Town Board member Nat Prentice. The Trust for Public Land funded a three-week poll to "test out support" for a Community Preservation Fund, said Prentice at the board's July 9 meeting. "The results, from 307 responses, "suggested that the voters would not support a community preservation fund at this time, citing mostly cost-of-living reasons," he said. "All they heard was tax." Ted Warren, the public policy manager for the Hudson Highlands Land Trust, told the board last year that a tax of up to 2 percent would apply to the portion of a property purchase exceeding the median price for home sales in Putnam County, which was $580,000 in 2025. For example, a house that sold for $700,000 would be taxed on $120,000 of the sale. Philipstown took an initial step to create the fund, which would need voter approval, in August 2023 by adopting a Community Conservation Plan. But Supervisor John Van Tassel said at the time that the idea of a new tax during the pandemic "did not settle well" with the board. In addition, said Warren, another survey of Philipstown residents conducted by the Trust for Public Land showed "a lot of ambivalence" about a fund. Under the Hudson Valley Community Preservation Act, a state law that grants municipalities in Putnam and Westchester counties the authority to establish conservation funds, the money would be administered by a five- or seven-member advisory board composed of volunteer residents. The Town Board on Wednesday (July 15) approved a $95,050 bid by Cemco Water & Wastewater Specialists to buy and install water meters at properties in the Garrison's Landing Water District. The other bids were $276,400 and $320,200. The previous meters failed in 1999 after the district's source "went from a ground/surface-fed system to a well-fed system" and the pressure increased, Van Tassel said. Philipstown officials said the town did not have the funds to buy meters until the board authorized borrowing $500,000 last year to cover capital upgrades. To repay the loan, the town added a $2,500 levy to the tax bills of property owners within the district, including those who are not connected but use wells. Once the meters are installed, the town will calculate a per-gallon usage fee for properties that use the water, Van Tassel said. Philipstown is finalizing regulations governing short-term rentals, such as those offered on Airbnb. The town is expected to introduce a local law at its Aug. 6 meeting and schedule a public hearing. At the suggestion of Board Member Ned Rauch, the board agreed on Wednesday to add language clarifying that the limit of two people per sleeping area includes an exception for parents who want an infant or small child in their room. Prentice suggested the town eliminate an inspection requirement because STRs are "a very market-driven, self-regulating industry where bad operators don't survive." He noted that the owners of about 100 of the roughly 140 STRs in Beacon have not registered, as mandated by the city. "You could get people to attest that they are keeping in line with code and that their insurance covers them," said Prentice. "If you made it easy on them, they'd all sign up." But Van Tassel said he "would never rely on a homeowner" to ensure an STR unit is safe. In the past, he has cited a 2024 fire at an unregistered Airbnb in Salt Point that killed a Cape Cod woman and her 1-year-old daughter. The owners of the unit, which did not have smoke detectors despite an attestation that it did, were charged with manslaughter. "My feeling would be to send a building inspector," said Van Tassel. Ads blame congressman for insurance coverage losses Before Cait Conley won the Democratic primary in June to set up a clash with Rep. Mike Lawler for the U.S. House district that includes Philipstown, a group called Empire State Voices had already been buying ads criticizing the two-term Republican congressman's record on health care. In a February video that ran on YouTube, a woman identified as "Tracey from Pearl River" (Lawler's hometown) recounted draining her 401K after being denied coverage for cancer, and then regaining insurance through the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare. She was afraid Lawler "wants to take that away." In a YouTube ad that ran from late April to May, "Karen from Peekskill" accuses Lawler of cutting the Medicaid her parents rely on to "give tax breaks to billionaires." Lawler countered this month with an ad on Facebook and Instagram: "When premiums were on the line, Rep. Mike Lawler crossed party lines to extend the enhanced ACA tax credits that keep coverage affordable for NY-17 families." But the extension of those Affordable Care Act credits did not pass Congress. That failure and changes to the Republican-led One Big Beautiful Bill that could cut Medicaid enrollments by millions of people are two of the major themes as Conley, Democrats and advocacy groups target Lawler in November's midterm elections. His seat is considered a toss-up and is one of Democrats' main targets as they seek to regain control of the House, which has 218 Republicans, 212 Democrats, one independent and four vacancies. Their success may depend in part on the impact of the One Big Beautiful Bill, which President Donald Trump signed on July 4, 2025. The legislation, which Lawler voted for, extended tax cuts set to expire at the end of last year; temporarily raised to $40,000 (from $10,000) the amount of state and local taxes that can be deducted on federal returns; and allowed workers to temporarily deduct up to $25,000 in tips. But its provisions were also projected to cause 7.8 million people to lose Medicaid coverage by 2034. The bill also affected the health care exchanges New York and other states established when President Barack Obama signed the Affordable Care Act in 2010. A year after the enactment of the One Big Beautiful Bill, the effects on health care coverage are starting to emerge. New York said that because of cuts in the One Big Beautiful Bill, the state's no-premium, no-deductible Essential Plan for low- and middle-income residents could no longer cover households earning between 200 and 250 percent of the federal poverty level. The estimated 450,000 people who lost coverage include individuals earning $31,920 or less annually and four-person households earning up to $82,500. Most of the affected enrollees — including an estimated 13,987 in District 17 and 15,656 in District 18, which includes Beacon — have until Aug. 30 to find subsidized health insurance on New York State of Health, the state's health exchange. But unlike their Essential Plan coverage, monthly premiums and deductibles will be required. Danielle Holahan, the executive director for the exchange, told New York Focus, a statewide news organization, that 150,000 to 200,000 Essential Plan users will be unable to buy insurance on the exchange or get coverage through their employers. Their dilemma, which took effect July 1, was the subject of a Facebook ad from a group called Families Over Billionaires. It featured state Assembly Member Dana Levenberg, whose district includes Philipstown. Calling the One Big Beautiful Bill the "big ugly bill," Levenberg charged that Lawler "lied to us. Not once, not twice but three times you voted to cut Medicaid, and you don't represent the people, you represent Donald Trump and all his flunkies." Rep. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Kevin Swanson, Timothy Reed and Adam McManus Fulani Muslim militia most deadly force against Christians The Observatory for Religious Freedom in Africa has issued a study on terror-related violence on the Dark Continent. The group revealed that the Fulani Muslim militia is by far the most deadly force in the persecution of Christians worldwide. They kill Christians at a rate 4.4 times that of other Muslims. Thus far, they have killed 79,323 people in six years — amounting to 36 people a day. They kill at 3 times the rate of Boko Haram. That's twenty times the number of people that have been killed in the US-Iran war this year.  Senegal, Africa: Marriage is between one man and one woman The National Assembly of the West African country of Senegal has defined marriage as a union between one man and one woman. Homosexuality is still legal in 21 out of 54 African countries. So far, homosexual faux marriage has been incorporated in one nation -- South Africa. U.S.-Iran war is back on America's war with Iran is back on, and the Middle East is in flames.   The U.S. military bombed dozens of military targets yesterday. The Saudis also bombed the Yemen airport. The Houthi-controlled Yemeni government is an ally with Iran in the present war. The Center for Strategic and International Studies reports a depletion of one-third to one-half of American Patriot, Tomahawk, and Terminal High Altitude Areas Defense missiles. At current rates, the replenishment will take four years. This does not include the use of missiles during the period of May through July.  Trump Meme coin tanked; Bitcoin down by 50% The Trump Meme coin has tanked — costing investors $3.8 billion. The president received $636 million from the venture, according to a recent financial disclosure.  However, Bitcoin has also lost half its value since the Trump election in November 2024. Total losses are running about $2.2 trillion for investors. Gold capitalization has increased about 3% since November 2025. 122,000 American layoffs The website Layoffs.fyi records 122,000 layoffs this year. That's the highest rate in four years.  Amazon is leading the pack for corporate layoffs with a total of 30,000 layoffs over the last nine months. America produces more oil than Saudi Arabia and Russia America is now, by far, the largest oil producer in the world — now producing 42% more than Saudi Arabia, and 37% more than Russia. Back in 2008, the United States produced about half of what Saudi Arabia and Russia produced. That has changed dramatically in the last 17 years.  GOP Senator Mitch McConnell rejects rumors he's braindead Republican Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky broke the silence and intrigue surrounding his lengthy hospital stay. Rumors had swirled that the senator was braindead or under cardiac arrest after he was transferred to the hospital. The senator has clarified that he had suffered a fall, but he did not break bones or suffer a concussion. Senator Lindsey Graham met his maker Longtime Republican Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina went to meet his Maker on Saturday night. According to the D.C. office of the Chief Medical Examiner, Graham died of a ruptured aorta brought on by chronic heart disease. Graham, age 71, was never married and never had children. SC Gov appointed Lindsey Graham's sister to serve remainder of term South Carolina Republican Governor Henry McMaster announced Monday that he has appointed the late Senator's sister, Darline Graham Nordone, to serve the remainder of his term. When Lindsey Graham was 20, his mother died of Hodgkin's lymphoma at age 50, and his father died 15 months later of a heart attack at age 68. Because his sister, then 13 years old, was left orphaned, the service allowed Graham to attend the University of South Carolina in Columbia so he could remain near home as his sister's legal guardian. Here's a portion of Governor McMaster's press conference. McMASTER: “Today, under the law, it's my duty and honor to name someone to serve in the place this extraordinary man for the remainder of his term. “Lindsey took care of his little sister in years long departed. It's my honor to ask his little sister, Darlene Graham, to finish his work for him now. “And by the way, Darlene, I don't know if I told you, but after we spoke on the phone in the wee hours of Sunday morning, and you agreed to serve, through tears. Earlier, I had wondered what you would say, and I was humbled by your quickness to see the duty that you had to serve. “I called the president afterwards, and he thought it was a great idea, and I'm sure that everyone here does as well.” Obamacare premiums going higher Obamacare premiums are jacking up another 14% for next year.   That follows a 20% increase last year. The Peterson-KFF organization notes that the program lost three million members so far this year — now at a total of 19.2 million enrollments.  The average family of four pays $24,000 into Obamacare for this year, and $27,000 next year.  That compares to Samaritan Ministries Christian medical sharing that runs about $8,000 per year.  Hospitals treated COVID-shot rejectors as “plagued rats” Psalm 146:3 instructs us: “to not put your trust in princes, nor in a son of man, in whom there is no help.” Recent Centers for Disease Control numbers indicate that 80% of Americans got at least one COVID shot. U.S. death rates, based on 2019 numbers, rose 17% in 2020 during the COVID crisis. After the vaccine came out in early 2021, the death rate increased again by 23% over 2019 levels. Then, the death rate increased by 16% in 2022. Death rates did not reduce to 2019 levels until 2024. Last year's death rate actually registered 4% less than 2019. Former trauma surgeon Dr. James Miller told podcast host Alix Mayer that those who did not take the Covid shot, after its rollout, were treated differently in hospitals, and in an inhumane manner, like “plagued rats.” Listen. MILLER: “Absolutely, the vaccinated and unvaccinated were treated differently. They started just denying basic health services to unvaccinated people, which spurned not giving diabetes medicine [and] you can't go see your family doctor. "Now, you could still get emergency care in the ER, but 100% you were treated differently. You were treated as a dirty, plagued rat. And this was common in social media. But it was no different in the hospital. The medical community is no different.” Next, Dr. Miller spoke of The Overton Window referring to the moment when an argument becomes politically acceptable to the mainstream population. In this case, it is more acceptable now, in 2026, for Americans to express their distrust of the medical establishment about how it handled the COVID shot rollout and how it mistreated the unvaccinated 20% of the population. The term, The Overton Window, is named after the American policy analyst Joseph Overton. Listen. MILLER: “I think part of why this is such a good time to talk about this is I think The Overton Window has shifted on the discussion. I think all people have realized the medical care system did not meet their expectations during COVID. “I think most people thought, before COVID, when you go to the doctor, they're going to help you out a bit, and you're going to get better, and they're going to wish you well. I think most people thought when I'm really sick, I'm going to go to the hospital and they're gonna help me out a lot and do their best and get me well. “After COVID, most people realized their doctors were there for themselves. Their doctors were more than happy to give them a toxic substance that would hurt them, like the COVID injection. And I think most people came to see that the hospitals were really killing fields.” 28 Georgia inmates got baptized after Bible studies The Grady County, Georgia Sheriff's department issued an official announcement over the weekend: 28 inmates got baptized! They had been faithfully attending Bible studies throughout the week, and confessed their faith in Christ.   The announcement said, “Together, we gathered in prayer, lifted our voices in worship, and celebrated these life-changing decisions. Moments like these serve as a reminder that hope, grace, and redemption are possible for everyone.” Back in March, another 14 inmates were baptized at a Franklin County jailhouse in Florida, according to Channel 7 News. PASTOR: “I'm going to baptize you in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. And I'm baptizing you in the power of that cross I'm talking about today. All right, ready?” These inmates also attended Bible studies each week and heard sermons from local pastors. Inmate Ethan Vonier became a Christian behind bars. VONIER: “I found Christ in jail. I feel like the good Lord put me here. We're all doing better each day.” And inmate Robert Hill was grateful for a fresh start and a Biblical destiny. HILL: “It's a new beginning. Everybody in here probably wants a new beginning. You know, he gives it to you. You know what I mean? Gives you a fresh start.  Jeremiah 29:11 -- He has a plan for me. I know it. I want it. I'm going to get it.” Psalm 107:10-14 tells the story: “Those who sat in darkness and in the shadow of death, bound in affliction and irons—because they rebelled against the words of God, and despised the counsel of the Most High. Therefore, He brought down their heart with labor. They fell down, and there was none to help. Then, they cried out to the Lord in their trouble and He saved them out of their distresses. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus Nigerian Christian pastor, father of 16, needs your help As you know, Nigeria has become the epicenter of Christian martyrdom in the world. In the initial 96 days of 2026, from January 1 to April 6, Muslims killed 1,402 Nigerian Christians. Shockingly, that represents 72% of Christians killed worldwide.  In 2025, 3,490 Nigerian Christians were martyred.  A total of 52,000 brothers and sisters in Christ have lost their lives in the last decade.  Plus, Nigeria has been going through severe economic challenges as well, most of which are due to the country's 30% inflation rate.  Some Worldview listeners here in America are trying to help Nigerian Pastor G, a man they know personally and the father of 14 children, move to the United Kingdom for their safety and a better economic opportunity. Currently, his family lives in a small, one bedroom/one bath apartment with no kitchen. They use a small hallway as the place to prepare food. The family has three sets of triple bunk beds jammed in the bedroom, family room, and hallway. In addition, the power outages are frequent in Nigeria, which means that there's little to no air circulation in their tiny apartment.  Through a GoFundMe page, these American friends are helping raise the money needed to pay for a larger 3-bedroom apartment where the family of 16 can reside while they're gathering their required documents and visas. Other expenses include the air fare for the family and the initial three months of living expenses in the United Kingdom until the working-aged family members find jobs. Galatians 6:2 says, "Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ." We have them all linked in our transcript today at www.TheWorldview.com.  U.S. and Iran enter technical talks to secure peace deal The U.S. and Iran held technical talks in Doha, Qatar on July 1st as they seek to agree on the flow of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz and secure a lasting ceasefire, reports Reuters. The talks are based on a 14-point interim accord signed last month that was meant to halt the war that began with U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran in February and reopen the Strait of Hormuz, whilst setting up 60 days of negotiations for a permanent peace deal. However, the U.S. and Iran have sparred publicly over the meaning of the interim pact, leading to military strikes over the past week.  Iran is determined to win international recognition of its control over the strait and its ability to levy fees on ships entering or leaving the Persian Gulf even if it has to do so by force. Traffic has partially resumed through the strait, which handled one-fifth of global oil and liquefied natural gas trade before the war. Iran has stated publicly that its priorities include agreeing on management of the Strait of Hormuz and the release of $6 billion in Iranian frozen assets. The current round of discussions would focus on those two issues. The stated priority of the U.S. is to ensure the free flow of traffic through the strait. President Donald Trump faces political pressure to contain the economic fallout from the war with Iran before midterm elections in November that will determine control of the U.S. Congress. In Iran, the theocratic leadership survived the war, but faces domestic anger over a shattered economy. Oil prices, which dipped sharply in the second quarter of the year, fell more than 1% on July 1st. The interim deal between the U.S. and Iran also provides for an end to a parallel conflict between Israel and the Iran-backed militant group Hezbollah in Lebanon. House passes online protections to shield children from porn The House successfully passed its internet safety package for children while the Senate continues to stall, reports The Daily Signal.   The Kids Internet and Digital Safety Act includes a key amendment that would protect children from viewing sexual content online, a statistic that continues to grow. Republican Congresswoman Mary Miller of Illinois, a mother of seven, who attends Oakland Christian Church with her husband Illinois GOP State Representative Chris Miller, sponsored the KIDS Act.  It combines 14 digital safety bills, including a key age-verification amendment. The Shielding Children's Retinas from Egregious Exposure on the Net Act would require platforms to use technology verification tools to ensure the accuracy of age verification to prevent minors from accessing sexual material. Congresswoman Miller said, “Sadly, the average age that our children are accessing pornography on the internet is 11, and by the time our children turn 18, 80% of them have access to pornography. Parents are doing their best, but the truth is, with a few clicks of a button, kids can access this filth. Research shows that it causes anxiety, depression, and risky sexual behavior. It's a rot to the soul of our children.” Congresswoman Miller added, “We require age identification for children to access other things like tobacco, alcohol, firearms, casinos, and any kind of adult entertainment. You have to prove your age. So, that's all this bill does. It requires the pornography companies to make the user prove their age.”  The KIDS Act has been sent to the Senate. Idaho: First state to institute firing squad for execution Idaho became the first state to institute a firing squad as the primary execution method for death row inmates, reports One America News. The change went into effect on July 1st  after the state legislature passed the law in 2025. However, lethal injection remains an alternative method. Other states have the firing squad explicitly listed as an alternative method including Mississippi, Oklahoma, South Carolina, and Utah. Martyrdom of Czech reformer Jan Hus in 1415 Six hundred eleven years ago today, on July 6th, 1415, Jan Hus, a Czech theologian and reformer, was burned at the stake in Constance, Germany for so-called “heresy.”  Hus denounced the moral failings of Catholic clergy, bishops, and even the papacy from his pulpit. He also objected to the Catholic teaching of indulgences, a financial gift to the church that would somehow shorten a dead Catholic's time in purgatory, a place nowhere substantiated in Scripture. Sermon Outline: "Freedom Worth Celebrating" Preacher: Pastor Rhonda Davis I. Point 1: Land of the Free, Home of the Redeemed The Odds of Grace: Statistically, based on global birth rates, an individual has only a 2% to 3% chance of being born in the United States. A Beacon of Light: Over its 250-year history, America has outlasted its accusers, remaining a democracy through civil war, internal discourse, and external enemies. The nation historically leads the world in sending Christian missionaries to foreign sands and outspends the next three runner-up nations combined in global disaster relief. The Call to Stand: Reading from Galatians 5:1, the church is reminded that Christ sets us free for the purpose of living in actual freedom. Believers must actively choose never to be entangled again by a yoke of spiritual slavery. II. Point 2: Freedom Has a Price The Winter of 1777 (Valley Forge): To understand the value of freedom, Pastor Rhonda recalled General George Washington leading 12,000 under-resourced men into Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, after devastating defeats. 2,000 soldiers died from cold, starvation, and disease. Out of sheer desperation, men boiled their shoe leather for sustenance and left trails of blood in the snow from bare, frostbitten feet—yet they refused to surrender because they believed freedom outweighed personal comfort. The Cost of Spiritual Liberty (Calvary): Moving from Valley Forge to the hill of Calvary, Jesus Christ endured the ultimate price for human liberty. As prophesied in Isaiah 52:14, He was beaten beyond human recognition. Though He possessed the immediate power to call down 10000 angels (Matthew 26), He chose to stay on the cross because He determined our freedom was worth the price. III. Point 3: Two Freedoms, One Source Inherent Human Dignity: True liberty—both the civil freedom to vote and live without government interference, and spiritual freedom—stems from a singular source: God Himself. Because God is free by nature, and because humans are uniquely made in His image (Genesis 1:27), every individual possesses inherent, sacred dignity. The Living Room Jail Cell: Quoting Galatians 5:1 from The Message, Pastor Rhonda warned against trying to add legalism to grace. Living a restricted, legalistic life after being saved is equivalent to being liberated from a maximum-security prison only to build a voluntary jail cell right inside your own living room. IV. Point 4: Don't Go Back to Chains Guarding Against Apathy: History shows nations are rarely conquered by sudden external conquest; instead, they fall through internal apathy and gradually forgetting what it cost to obtain their liberty. Pastor Rhonda recalled a WallBuilders podcast interview by historian David Barton featuring a Washington State pastor who had to sue the government in 2020 because secular establishments were permitted to stay open while churches faced criminal misdemeanors for outdoor worship and singing. Identifying Modern Chains: The enemy constantly attempts to lure believers back into old bondages. These chains manifest as: Rehearsing past failures on a continuous mental playlist. Slipping back into toxic, generational family mindsets. Trapping oneself in people-pleasing loops and performance mentalities. Prophetic Deliverance: Pastor Rhonda shared a personal moment from her youth when minister Billy Burke gave her a word detailing a "ball and chain" around her ankle representing the conditional expectations of others. Breaking that chain requires standing firm—derived from the Greek word stekete, meaning to stubbornly hold your ground, defend your position, and completely refuse to be moved. V. Point 5: How to Steward and Stand Firm in Liberty Know What You Have: You cannot properly steward what you do not understand. Taking inventory of spiritual rights reveals that there is zero condemnation for those in Christ (Romans 8:1), sin is no longer your master (Romans 6:14), and the same Holy Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead lives inside you (Romans 8:11). Pastor Rhonda referenced a 2022 table talk discussion with Lance Wallnau and Cindy Murdock, recalling Wallnau's story of Donald Trump in 2015 challenging silent ministers to defend their biblical rights, which later resulted in the executive repeal of the restrictive Johnson Amendment. Use Freedom for Something Greater: Freedom is never the final destination; it is simply the vehicle. According to Galatians 5:13, liberty must never be used to satisfy selfish, sinful natures, but rather to serve one another in love. The sacrifices of past generations are dignified when we use our voices to speak truth with grace and act as the hands and feet of Jesus to help the homeless, the prisoner, and the vulnerable. Let the Holy Spirit Lead: Believers must maintain an open mind to how God wants to uniquely deploy their skills, influence, and talents across different seasons of life. It does not require unusual human ability to shift the world—only a caring heart, a determined mind, and a willing spirit. VI. Conclusion: Intercession for the Land The Command to Pray: Aligning with 1 Timothy 2:1-2, the church corporate is called to make supplications, prayers, and intercessions for all people, explicitly including kings and all secular authorities, so that believers may lead quiet, peaceful, and godly lives. A Promise of Healing: God is not finished with America. Relying on Lamentations 3:23 (His mercies are new every morning) and the covenant promise of 2 Chronicles 7:14, the church closed by corporate prayer, repenting of negative mindsets, asking for systemic healing from the White House to the communities, and calling a wayward generation back into their divine identity. There's a growing movement to bring more outdoor learning to public schools. This month, we profile Land to Learn, a non-profit organization that provides hands-on, garden-based learning to elementary students and teens throughout the Hudson Valley.  Executive Director Nicole Porto previously worked as a farmer and has dedicated her career to building sustainable and just food systems. In our interview, Nicole describes how Land to Learn's gardener-teachers work with kids of varying ages to instill knowledge of where their food comes from and advance values of caring for the Earth. There's also the unexpected thrill of watching the seeds they planted — strawberries, tomatoes, arugula — grow before their eyes.  "One of my favorite things to watch people get excited about is when a little yellow flower starts to grow a tiny, baby, spiky cucumber," Nicole says.  This episode focuses on Land to Learn's SproutEd program for elementary schools in Beacon, Newburgh and Kingston. Through SproutEd, gardener-teachers build school food gardens and teach monthly lessons that combine knowledge of plants, nutrition, cooking, and environmental stewardship.
