Tracey recently received a book in the mail, sent in by a dear listener and client of hers- first published in 1914 and aptly titled ‘True Irish Ghost Stories', betwixt it's covers lie a compilation of titillating recounts of experiences and stories of ghosts, ghouls and other-worldly wickedness that will be sure to rise the gooseflesh and cold sweats of the modern day podcast listener who dares play it between their earholes. Tracey reads us a small selection of stories from Chapter IV, Poltergeists. The book- ‘True Irish Ghost Stories'. Complied by St. John D. Seymour and Harry L. Corney was a poltergeist that haunted the A- family in Dublin, Ireland during the mid-19thcentury. The address of the house, as well as, the families name is a mystery even though we have the story of Corney's antics. He let his presence be known to the family and their staff, but only showed his spectral body to two people. The first who died from fright, and the 2nd, a 7-year old boy where he described him as a naked man, with a curl on his forehead, and pale skin. His misbehavior with the servants of the house were especially awful and Mrs. A- had a hard time keeping the servants in the house. Who was Corney? It is believed that he is the spirit of Cornelius, known as Corney, who was a faithful elderly servant living in that house. His death in the house apparently tied him to the building. A year after his death, the family moved away and the A- family moved in and that is when the poltergeist behavior of Corney began. Was Corney upset that a new family moved in? Or was he just a jokester who liked playing pranks on the living? Join us on episode 133 to hear more! Sources: yourirish.com/folklore/corney-dublin-poltergeist, “True Irish Ghost Stories” by John D. Irish Spirits

This episode focused on how haunted castles in Ireland can be! We looked at what was scarier: the castles themselves or the events that took place in the them, all washed down with our carefully crafted cocktail - The Oubliette. A drink to make you forget, it went down a little too easy courtesy of our phantom bartender, Alex! Each castle we discussed brought us down another rabbit hole of which much like an oubliette it was hard to get out of - each castle deserves their own episode! Until then enjoy our smattering of tales as we wonder what a ghost is at all!
