Finally, the cinematic showdown between lingerie models and leprechauns that we all didn't know we needed! We're talking about UNLUCKY CHARMS, a deeply silly 2013 flick that is the only Full Moon movie, and maybe the only movie period, to be packaged with a novelty box of cereal. We're joined by the great Matt Orozco of Macabre Daily for this bizarre little confection. Hosted by Jarrod Hornbeck and Steve Guntli Theme song by Kyle Hornbeck Logo by Doug McCambridge Email: puppetmasterscastlefreaks@gmail.com Instagram/Threads: @puppetmasters_castlefreaks YouTube: @PuppetMastersCastleFreaks Next week's episode: Death Streamer

Brandon pitches an idea for a new #dating app. Steve actually gets out of the house. Unlucky Charms: A bunch of models are trying out, in gameshow format, to be a spokesmodel for some lingerie line. The woman running the show has a charm bracelet that allows her to control some mythical creatures. She uses them to kill people. The creatures are actually good guys, though, so they don't want to do it. The bad guy is hoisted by her own petard. The End. Unlucky Charms final grade: Steve: It was OK. Lighting was good. There were some bits that entertained a bit or were ripe for mockery. Overall, not worth the watch. 1.75/5.0Brandon: This one was disappointing. Not scary and no one tried to do anything really funny. Writing wasn't great. Acting was sub-par. Roughly the quality of Ahockalypse with a much larger budget. Terrible bang for your buck. 1.7/5.0Cocktail of the Week:County Clare/Dublin Cooler2 oz Irish Whiskey3/4 oz Unfiltered Apple Cider/Juice3/4 oz Fresh Squeezed Lemon Juice1/4 oz Benedictine1 oz Ginger BeerPour ginger beer into a glass over ice. Put the rest of the ingredients into a cocktail shaker and shake to combine. Strain over the ginger beer.Cocktail Grade: The kind of cocktail that will tickle your sweet tooth. Your morning briefing, the business news you need in just 15 minutes. On today's podcast: (1) A global selloff in equities worsened in Asia, while the dollar strengthened and Treasury yields edged lower as investors shunned risky bets with President Donald Trump ratcheting up tariffs. (2) China threatened to hit back at Donald Trump’s trade threats after the US president unveiled additional tariffs on Chinese imports, raising the risk of tensions spiraling between the world’s largest economies. (3) President Donald Trump said he would restart long-stalled negotiations on trade with the UK, as British Prime Minister Keir Starmer heralded a “new economic deal” between the two countries. (4) UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer left his meeting with Donald Trump with much to be satisfied about despite falling short of his top objective — obtaining an American security “backstop” to protect Ukraine from further attacks after an end to Russia’s war. (5) President Volodymyr Zelenskiy arrives at the White House on Friday with a personal appeal to persuade Donald Trump not to sell out his country in the rush to make a peace deal with Russia. (6) Paris’s oldest chocolate shop has occupied a street corner in the ninth arrondissement since 1761. Ownership of À la Mère de Famille has changed hands from family to family over the centuries, but it has endured through occupation and revolution thanks to the Parisian appetite for confectionery.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Following on from 2024's theme of the Folklore of Animals, this month we'll examine the Folklore of Agricultural Animals. This week, we'll explore the folklore, legends, and even folk medicine associated with sheep. Sheep are not native to the UK. Neolithic settlers brought them to Britain from southwest Asia in around 3000 BCE. Sheepskin and other wool textiles appear in the archaeological record from the Bronze Age in northern Europe. Following the Norman Conquest, sheep became the dominant form of livestock. They primarily provided milk, with meat, wool, and manure secondary products. By the medieval era, the focus switched to wool. Unsurprisingly, they appear in folklore through tales of sheep-stealing, but also fables, like the wolf in sheep's clothing. Sheep appear in mythology too. The golden ram, Aries, who saved Phrixus and Helle from their evil stepmother, went on to both provide the famous Golden Fleece of Greek myth, and the Aries constellation. But let's take a look at some of the legends and lore associated with sheep. in this week's episode of Fabulous Folklore! Today's Talmud page, Sanhedrin 29, finds the rabbis advancing a defense of none other than the Snake. Was he truly guilty of any sin way back when in the Garden of Eden? Or was he merely giving Eve bad advice, and shouldn't be punished for her transgressions? And what does this question have to teach us about personal responsibility? Listen and find out.

Folktales around the fire, gooding & mumping and the terrifying Hooden Horse are just some of England's winter folk traditions from history. In this episode, Dan explores the unlikely and often dark origins of some of our Christmas traditions that can be traced back thousands of years. He's joined by folklore historian Vikki Bramshaw, to discover what midwinter legends were brought over with the Anglo-Saxon invasion, the origins of the Yule log and some of the unusual ways people passed the long nights in rural England (fortune-telling chestnuts). He also explores the New Forest, Hampshire, with local historian Richard Reeves to find out more about how medieval people survived the cold winters in the woods. You can discover more in Vikki's book 'New Forest Folklore, Traditions and Charms'.This is episode 4 of our 'Origins of Christmas' series. This December, Dan explores the history behind our Christmas traditions—from extravagant Tudor feasts and carolling to midwinter Solstice celebrations, the bawdy entertainment of the Georgians, and the family-focused customs of the Victorians.Produced by Mariana Des Forges.Sign up to History Hit for hundreds of hours of original documentaries, with a new release every week and ad-free podcasts. In this episode of The Boosted Volunteer Podcast, host Evan Eissler and Robin Eissler discuss the major transition from Charms to Booster Hub for over 200 bands. They delve into the key differences between the two platforms, comparing the switch to moving from Windows to Mac. Charms, initially designed for band directors as an office management tool, contrasts sharply with Booster Hub, which is tailored for nonprofit booster club management and adheres to IRS rules on fundraising accounts. Robin highlights the advantages of Booster Hub's live double-entry accounting system, which offers real-time updates and greater transparency, compared to Charms' basic ledger system. The episode also covers Booster Hub's enhanced fundraising tools, such as “Booster Bucks” and QR-coded ticket sales, and provides practical advice on the transition process, including exporting data, importing student information, and setting up invoices. Con ella platiqué sobre el hecho de que es casi imposible conocer personas relajadas hoy en día, sobre su decisión de pasar un día a la semana sin celular y sobre el daño que nos causa enterarnos de todo lo que pasa todo el tiempo. Looking for magic in your every day? You've found the right podcast episode! Today, in addition to Robyn and Karen, meet other key members of the Seeking Center Team, Lisa Capretto and Noel Kehoe, who are joining us in the spirit of Halloween and the magical energy that comes with this time of year! Together, they've found several simple spells that can bring more peace, protection, and clarity into your life. And btw, what is a spell? A spell is typically understood as a set of words, gestures, or rituals believed to invoke supernatural powers to achieve a desired outcome. It has roots in many ancient traditions and is often associated with magic, witchcraft, and spiritual practices. In different cultures and throughout history, spells have been seen as a way to influence the physical world or manipulate unseen forces, often for healing, protection, love, or prosperity. In modern times, spells have taken on various forms depending on the belief system or spiritual path. Many contemporary practitioners see spells as a way to focus intention, aligning their will with spiritual or cosmic energies, which is how we'll be using the spells we talk about today as symbolic acts that blend belief, intention, and ritual to harness energy toward specific outcomes, a practice that continues to evolve across cultures and belief systems. Most of these can be used year-round, but we thought they'd be especially timely right now. So, what resonates with you? After two very targeted episodes, this week was much more of a grab bag — Daniel Craig's fit for the Loewe show, bag and shoe charms, GQ trying to cancel Gorpcore, Sydney Sweeney's abomination of an ad deal, kitchen upgrades and aesthetic appliances, Sally Rooney's "Intermezzo" as a status symbol, Divorced Wife-core, Nike news, and some footy collabs. Of course, we finished everything out by adding some items to our personal wishlists. Witches III, Episode #1 of 4. Magic practitioners - both real and fictional, historical and contemporary - wield many different kinds of magic. Blood and bone magic, necromancy, divination, cleansing magic, manifestation, earth and elemental magic; the list is extensive. But wherever there is magic use, you are likely to find love magic. Spells and incantations to entrap a lover, potions and drugs to enthrall or make one feel amorous - love magic is ubiquitous in our current cultural representations of magic, especially (but not exclusively) when there are women magic-users involved. Curiously, while love magic has been around for millenia, love magic was not always so firmly feminized. And that seems worth digging into.
