Middle Tennessee Business Podcast....subscribe/follow/rate/review at www.mmtbp.comWhen we left Connecticut in 2001, we left the ability to get great New York-style pizza on a moment's notice, from almost any pizza place. In Las Vegas, it took us 3 years to find a place that came close, but still too far.In the Middle Tennessee area, we had better luck. My friend John Tumminello introduced me to Joey's House of Pizza, which was in Brentwood at the time.Upon entering the restaurant, the sights, smells and thick New York accents brought me back to those days when we lived in the Northeast….the days when we took getting good pizza very much for granted. I have been a champion of the Macca family ever since. When they opened a Joey's House of Pizza in Spring Hill, you probably could have heard the celebration of joy coming from my house from several hundred yards away. Joey's eventually moved to Elm Hill Pike, and then, much to just about the entire community's chagrin, closed with no prior notice. The Spring Hill store is still open but has also moved and changed their name to Nelly's, which is operated by Joey and Crescenza Macca's daughter and son-in-law, Danielle and Ryan. The Macca's aren't done. They've opened Macca Villa at Riverside in Murfreesboro, where you can still get your Joey's House of Pizza fix as well as a beautiful property to have a wedding, celebrate an anniversary or have a really bodacious birthday blowout! “Ciao, y'all!” - Perfectly said, from a Brooklyn born, deeply Italian family who planted roots in our backyard back in the 80s.Follow The Maccas on their next chapter: https://www.maccavilla.com/https://www.facebook.com/themaccavillavenue__________________________________________________________________________________________________****SUBSCRIBE/RATE/FOLLOW the Mostly Middle Tennessee Business Podcast:www.mmtbp.comwww.instagram.com/mostlymiddletnbusinespodcastwww.instagram.com/jimmccarthyvosTiktok: @jimmccarthyvos __________________________________________________________Shoutout to Matt Wilson for lending his voice to the new intro of MMTBP.Follow him and his podcast from which I may have borrowed the *mostly* concept:https://linktr.ee/mamwmw___________________________________________________________****You hear Jim mention it on almost every episode, ME vs. WE and how 2023 will be 1943 all over again….order “PENDULUM:How Past Generations Shape Our Present and Predict Our Future”:https://a.co/d/7oKK7Ip__________________________________________________________________________The co-author of Pendulum wrote a myriad of other books and started a non-profit 21st Century Non-Traditional Business School that you should really check out: Wizard Academy - www.wizardacademy.org__________________________________________________________________________Talking about the real problems (and possible solutions) of everyday business owners and professionals in and around Middle Tennessee and beyond...this is the What's Your Problem Podcast!Curious about podcasting? God will show a man who he’s been so that he can change who he will be.  This is a lesson that John Tumminello learned when he woke up having everything, looked in the mirror and hated himself.   “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing” - John 15:5   John is from NY.  He’s a father of 2 children and husband.  While trying to help people, he believes he’s learned more than he’s given.  God has wrecked him to teach him. John’s non profit’s are focused on the fatherless and those who were wounded by their experiences with their fathers. John’s father had one arm and ran a deli to keep the family fed and his mom was detached.  He didn’t feel a lot of affection as a youth, because his parents suffered from the were scared to stop working. Biggest Weakness - When he’s running ahead of God Biggest Strength - To encourage people. Dark Time - He didn’t even know how he got there, but his dark time lasted 5 years.  He was told he was selfish emotionally and would consume people and alcohol.  He was very promiscuous  John was at a high point financially and in business during his dark time.  He used his skills for his own advantage instead of for God’s kingdom.   Anyone who has God’s spirit does not enjoy that lifestyle, it’s there to cover the pain. John grew up Catholic, but it was more of a cultural experience.  In that space God, put the right people in front of John, like a Christian brother who prayed for him from age 16 to 38. 2 people who were really close to John that called him emotionally selfish was the change he needed.  He woke up, looked in the mirror and saw the ugliness. It took 5 years to change his life. John went into isolation.  He moved to California to try and get away from himself. The final transition was when he started reading.  Found a book called “Just like Jesus” by Max Lucado.  It was when he first really heard the Gospel even after Catholic high school and college. When John struggles it’s because he is not trusting God. God’s Man of Influence - Less words and more action.  Lead with who you are.  Walk in a way that let’s people know that God is in your life. Recommended Book - “Tattoos on the Heart” by Greg Boyle and “Abba’s Child” by Brennan Manning.
