Tune into this week's episode of SportSquire, as Brad completes Part 2 of John Wooden's Pyramid of Success and How It Can Help You. He speaks about the heart of the pyramid which consists of condition, skill, and team spirit. These 3 characteristics then hold up the next layer of the pyramid which consists of Poise and Confidence. Poise and Confidence then hold up the ultimate characteristic which is Competitive Greatness. Tune in as Brad speaks about each block of these last 6 characteristics and also the 10 mortar behaviors that Wooden strategically placed to hold the pyramid together. Challenge of the week is to pick up one of John Wooden's Book on leadership and to reference the official site coachwooden.com to see resources for each block of The Pyramid of Success. Have a great week!
In this week's episode Brad digs deep into the timeline of the great and late John Wooden. Wooden won 10 National Championships in 12 seasons from 1963-1975. He was hired as the head coach at UCLA in 1948 and wasn't until 15 years later when he won his first national title. The most fascinating thing is that Wooden finished his “Pyramid of Success” PRIOR to accepting the job at UCLA in 1948. This episode dives into the bottom two layers of the pyramid and their character qualities. He stated, "SUCCESS IS PEACE OF MIND WHICH IS A DIRECT RESULT OF SELF-SATISFACTION IN KNOWING YOU MADE THE EFFORT TO BECOME THE BEST YOU ARE CAPABLE OF BECOMING."

I thought this week I'd go more "motivational" and share a very small portion of one of the most influential books on my own personal coaching career. John Wooden was an astonishing basketball coach who achieved much during his long career, and I've always found his style, values, and teachings to be motivational, no matter what situation I was in. Let me share two building blocks of his infamous "Pyramid of Success" with you in this week's episode. ----------- LINKS ----------- Affiliate link to "Coach Wooden's Pyramid of Success" (the exact copy I own. This is the first eisode in a series I am doing over John Wooden's Pyramid of Success. John Wooden is considered one of the most successful coaches ever with a winning percentage over 80% in 40 seasons of coaching and 10 total NCAA national titles in basketball (of which 7 were consecutive). Woden created this pyramid to give us his insight into what he believed were some of the principles (which he calls blocks and mortar) that lead to success. This first episode goes over one of the cornerstones of the pyramid: industriousness.
