In this solo episode, Joel Smith explores the principles of programming for speed and power training. Drawing from his own evolution as an athlete and coach, he discusses early influences like high-volume jump programs, Soviet-inspired plyometrics, and classic periodization models. Joel outlines five key programming systems: high-low structure, potentiation sequencing, weekly changeovers, factorization, and autoregulation, while highlighting common mistakes such as excessive volume, overemphasis on one training variable, and over-programming. He emphasizes balancing speed, strength, and capacity, keeping systems simple, and using tools like AI as a thinking partner rather than a replacement for coaching intuition. "Training is not just going out and doing skills; it is doing a set structure over a set of time." "We should understand what it's like to have that high-end training day and how long it takes to recover from it because a lot of training setups don't really account for that." "How do you know which of those stakeholders is really, if we look to the 80-20 principle, 20% of the program being 80% of the neural stimulus? How do we know how that thing is contributing?" "To maximally simplify any training process, we want to achieve a polarization." "Doing those easy days really well is one of the pieces of the art of coaching that's not talked about so much." "The system of an athlete is an amazing thing; it can adapt to the simplest thing. That's actually what makes humans and training and adaptability pretty cool, we don't need that much complexity to adapt." "Do simple better. It's an important place to start and remind ourselves." "With aggressive programs, use them strategically, not permanently." "Don't live inside one system. I think it's valuable to have a few tools in the toolkit with the systems you're familiar with, so you know when and how to use them." "Make [AI] a sparring partner, challenge your thinking. If you can use it as play and challenge, don't let it do your thinking for you." About Joel Smith Joel Smith is the founder of Just Fly Sports and host of the Just Fly Performance Podcast, one of the leading podcasts in strength and conditioning and track and field coaching. A former collegiate strength and track coach, Joel has spent over a decade studying speed, power, and human movement. He is the author of multiple books and online courses on sprinting, jumping, and elastic training, and works with athletes and coaches around the world to develop more powerful and creative approaches to training.
In this opening episode of a short mini-series, host Jeff lays out his "Dark to Light" framework and explains how he arrived at his conclusions using pattern recognition, scripture, and decades of research. Expect archival audio and video clips — including material from Bill Cooper, a one-minute Treasury clip from Scott Besant, and an official White House video — that Jeff uses to illustrate how clandestine networks, intelligence agencies, and financial institutions interact behind the scenes. Topics covered include a simplified "power structure" pyramid (from the people and law enforcement up through corporations, nation-states, intelligence agencies, and central banks), the role of secret societies and ancient mystery traditions, and the host's view that the very top of the hierarchy operates through spiritual deception. Jeff ties the analysis to biblical passages (John 3:16; John 14:30; Ephesians 2; John 16:11; 2 Corinthians 4:4) and explains why faith and discernment matter amid geopolitical upheaval. The episode reviews recent geopolitical flashpoints — the 2026 Iran conflict, alleged regime-change tactics, the fallout of financial pressure campaigns, SWIFT and sanctions, BRICS vs. Western financial systems, and the emergence of new asset-backed currency proposals — and links those events to long-term strategies by intelligence agencies and central banking interests. Jeff also discusses the "false great awakening" narrative (including Q as a psychological operation) and the shifting global map he expects as a new financial and military order is established. You'll hear analysis of President Trump's 2017 executive order on financial regulation, claims about bringing the Federal Reserve under Treasury oversight, and Scott Besant's remarks on using economic pressure against Iran — all used to show how economic tools can pave the way for military action and systemic change. Practical takeaways include preparedness tips Jeff recommends (short-term supplies, EMP protection) and a reminder to discern media narratives that fall into left/right traps. The episode also features a short promotion for "Decoding the Power of Three," a video course offered at writeonyou.com that Jeff ties into his broader spiritual and historical thesis about divine truth and the Trinity. Overall, listeners should expect a mix of conspiracy analysis, faith-based interpretation, historical context, and calls for vigilance as global institutions and power structures undergo rapid change. Anastasia Boyko joins us this week for a wide-angle conversation about AI adoption, leadership, and the uncomfortable truth behind “we are watching what peer firms do.” A Yale-trained tax lawyer with experience spanning Axiom, legal education, and innovation leadership, Boyko argues that precedent-driven instincts are turning into a liability when the underlying rules of the market are shifting in real time. The episode opens with lessons from the Women + AI 2.0 Summit at Vanderbilt and the “AI competence penalty” narrative. Boyko's central principle for law firm leaders is simple, stop copying the competition and start operating with intention. Strategic planning matters more than tool shopping, especially when uncertainty makes leaders freeze, over-index on fear, or chase noise instead of outcomes. From there, the conversation sharpens into client reality. Boyko shares what she is hearing from in-house leaders, and it is not comforting for firms. Legal departments are working to reduce dependence on outside counsel, business partners inside companies often accept “good enough,” and the models keep improving. The risk is not losing to a peer firm; it is losing the client relationship because the work stops feeling necessary.A major theme is talent and the apprenticeship gap. Boyko argues firms underinvest in people, even as they spend aggressively on software stacks. AI can help junior lawyers with coaching and confidence, but it does not replace mentorship, judgment-building, or context. The skills that matter now include client advisory, operational thinking, critical judgment, and the ability to solve problems across a complex system, not only perform discrete tasks in a vacuum. The episode closes on legal education and the future value of the JD. Boyko urges students to be selfish about learning AI, especially when faculty guidance comes from avoidance or philosophy rather than experimentation. Looking ahead, she predicts the JD's value shifts upward, away from rote production and toward proactive advisory work, relationships, anticipatory counsel, and wisdom-driven judgment. In other words, fewer fire drills, more looking around corners.PLI - How to Navigate Law School PodcastPower Paradox webinarListen on mobile platforms: Apple Podcasts | Spotify | YouTube | Substack[Special Thanks to Legal Technology Hub for their sponsoring this episode.]Email: geekinreviewpodcast@gmail.comMusic: Jerry David DeCicca

Between 1081 and 1903, roughly 20 Japanese Buddhist monks voluntarily endured a grueling three-year process of starvation and isolation — sealing themselves alive inside stone tombs in pursuit of becoming Buddha in their own bodies.*No AI Voices Are Used In The Narration Of This Podcast*Take the Weird Darkness Survey: https://take.supersurvey.com/QGZCRXPVSIN THIS EPISODE: One of the greatest monsters ever to be brought to the screen was The Mummy, portrayed by Boris Karloff. We have, of course, seen numerous recreations of the creature since the original Universal film, but still, the image is grotesque and frightening no matter the incarnation. To see a mummy in real-life is that much more shocking. But real fear… real terror… would be if you yourself were to be mummified… while still alive. (To Be Mummified Alive) *** In the days that followed the rescue of 11-year-old Terry Jo Duperrault from the wreckage of the yacht called the Bluebelle, it would became clear that a storm hadn't destroyed the ship, as the previously-rescued captain, Julian A. Harvey, had said earlier. A storm hadn't killed everyone aboard… Harvey himself had. (The Final Voyage of the Bluebelle) *** When a loved one passes away, we sometimes wish we could speak to them one last time. Some people report they received phone calls or voicemails they believe are from their deceased loved ones. Sometimes they come through as eerie otherworldly static, while other times the ghostly caller is able to communicate one last message. We'll share a few true stories from people who have received phone calls from the beyond. (Phone Calls From Beyond The Grave) *** If you buy a furnished home and move the furniture to clean the floor – and the furniture moves back on its own – you can be pretty sure you've just moved into a haunted house. That's exactly what one family in Rockford, Illinois found out. (A Haunting on School Street) *** And I'll end the episode with the story that I began it with – a short story by Louisa May Alcott called “Lost in a Pyramid”… or “The Mummy's Curse”. A story that went pretty much unnoticed when it was originally published in 1869, but has had somewhat become undead since 1998 when it was rediscovered and is now considered an influential example of early “mummy's curse” narratives.CHAPTERS & TIME STAMPS (All Times Approximate)…00:00:00.000 = Short Message00:00:20.684 = The Foreboding00:01:41.062 = Show Open00:04:41.066 = The Final Voyage of the Bluebelle00:18:32.491 = Phone Calls From Beyond the Grave ***00:36:53.017 = A Haunting On School Street ***00:43:39.779 = To Be Mummified Alive00:50:44.908 = The Mummy's Curse (Lost in a Pyramid) – fictional story ***01:16:00.096 = Show Close*** = Begins immediately after inserted ad breakHELPFUL LINKS & RESOURCES…https://WeirdDarkness.com/STORE = Tees, Mugs, Socks, Hoodies, Totes, Hats, Kidswear & Morehttps://WeirdDarkness.com/HOPE = Hope For Depression or Thoughts of Self-Harmhttps://WeirdDarkness.com/NEWSLETTER = In-Depth Articles, Memes, Weird DarkNEWS, Videos & Morehttps://WeirdDarkness.com/AUDIOBOOKS = FREE Audiobooks Narrated By Darren Marlar SOURCES and RESOURCES:“The Final Voyage of the Bluebelle” by Lucia for The Ghost In My Machine: https://weirddarkness.tiny.us/23utyhja“Phone Calls From Beyond the Grave” by Amanda Ashley for Graveyard Shift: https://weirddarkness.tiny.us/7bw36uh4“A Haunting on School Street” by Kathi Kresol for Haunted Rockford: https://weirddarkness.tiny.us/s3c76yeb“To Be Mummified Alive' by Bipin Dimri for Historic Mysteries: https://weirddarkness.tiny.us/j89cukfe“The Mummy's Curse/Lost In a Pyramid” by Louisa May Alcott: https://weirddarkness.tiny.us/pwd9h3cb=====(Over time links may become invalid, disappear, or have different content. The New Dietary Guidelines: More Triangle Than Pyramid? Those paying attention during the past few weeks will have probably noticed that the recently released 2025–2030 guidelines have provoked a large press response and widespread feedback from doctors, scientists, and concerned citizens. We're headed on the road in 2026! Buy tickets here:https://www.x1entertainment.com/bttb"This was a very franken-bit heavy episode. There were numerous times where I knew Abby did not say that." As Christi notes here there was clearly a lot of editing behind the scenes on this episode, but once you hear some of what Abby had to say in the show notes you won't be too shocked why that is. On Season 5's "Nia's Last Chance", Abby starts to take things too far in her treatment of the girls (shock) and as the title suggests no one is getting the worse end of that stick than Nia.After getting a win over Cathy the week prior, Abby is in a better than average mood at Pyramid and puts the whole team on the same spot for their hard work... except Maddie who still gets her pre-requisite spot at the top. Though not everyone gets off easy as Abby has the girls critique JoJo as some sort of hazing ritual to finally be accepted onto the team. JoJo fortunately takes it better than expected, but it's hard not to feel like a harbinger of what's to come.Turning their attention to the upcoming competition in Philadelphia, the moms ask Abby if she can give the girls some more contemporary material to work with, feeling that she's not quite yet lived up to her promise of giving them more challenging choreography to better prepare them for the professional world. Abby responds in kind by giving the team clearly the same lyrical material they're used to, just calling it something else. They'd worry about this more if there clearly wasn't something more pressing to deal with, like Abby's continued obsession with trying to put Holly and Nia in their place for their crime on doing the right thing. Nia is given a solo but is warned she won't be getting anymore if she fails to place.Holly forms a pact with Jess and Kira to have each other's back when dealing with Abby, which angers Jill for some reason? Jill and Melissa are upset Holly would side with the new moms despite the fact they themselves wouldn't stand up to Abby, and it's clear Jill is quickly morphing into Melissa 2.0. I've had the privilege of working with some of the world's greatest marketing minds—Gary Vaynerchuk, Todd Brown, Russell Brunson—and let me tell you, the deeper I go, the more I realize how most orthodontists, myself included, haven't been taught how to market effectively. In this episode of 5 Minute Friday, I walk you through a powerful framework I've learned: marketing as a pyramid. At the bottom of that pyramid are people who don't even know they have a problem, and at the top are the ones ready to take action. But here's the catch—most of us are marketing to the wrong level of awareness, with the wrong message, in the wrong place. That's costing us real money.Quotes“When you put a $500 discount in front of people who don't even know their kid needs ortho, you're wasting money—and missing the mark.” — Dr. Glenn Krieger“Pair the message you're sending with the awareness they have of your office. In this episode of The Box of Oddities, Kat and Jethro begin exactly where all great mysteries begin: with a frozen burrito and a deeply personal kitchen ritual that absolutely does not need to exist—but does anyway. From there, things escalate quickly. What starts as a discussion of oddly satisfying micro-rituals (the kind everyone has but no one can justify) turns into a deep dive beneath the sands of Egypt, where recent radar imaging claims suggest something massive and geometric may exist far below the Pyramid of Khafre. We're not talking about a hidden chamber or a forgotten hallway. We're talking about enormous cylindrical shafts, spiraling downward hundreds of meters, arranged with unsettling precision. Are these structures real? Are they geological accidents? Or are they deliberately engineered spaces—older than the pyramids themselves—designed for purposes we no longer understand? Kat and Jethro explore theories ranging from ancient engineering marvels to acoustic resonance chambers capable of inducing altered states of consciousness. Chanting, vibration, infrasonic frequencies, and architecture as a mechanism for transcendence all enter the chat. Along the way, the conversation veers (as it always does) into related oddities: Stonehenge acoustics, the Dyatlov Pass mystery, binaural beats, and the idea that sound itself may have been one of humanity's earliest tools for altering perception and brushing up against the unknown. Then, just when you think you're safe, we go underwater. Meet the Bobbit worm—also known as the bearded fireworm—a real, very ancient, nightmare-fuel marine predator that hides in sand, senses vibrations, and snaps prey in half with terrifying speed. Equal parts fascinating and horrifying, this ten-foot ambush worm becomes an unexpected mirror to the episode's earlier themes: ancient design, patience, hidden systems, and things that wait quietly beneath the surface until the moment they strike. This episode blends humor, history, speculative science, biology, and the deeply human urge to find meaning in rituals, structures, and creatures that predate us by millions—or even billions—of years. From kitchen counters to subterranean spirals to venomous sea monsters, The Box of Oddities asks the question it always asks best: not just what might be down there—but why the idea of it makes us so uncomfortable. In the first part of this two-episode series on the tombs of the tomb builders, host Stephanie Rice journeys beyond the iconic monuments of the Giza Plateau to explore the long-overlooked settlement of the pyramid workers.Often overshadowed by the Great Pyramids themselves, the massive wall known as Heit el-Ghurab, aka the “Wall of the Crow”, once concealed the remains of a thriving community. Ongoing excavations have revealed barracks, bakeries, administrative buildings, and, most importantly, carefully constructed cemeteries that challenge long-standing myths about enslaved labor or alien technologies. This episode examines the archaeological evidence for a socially stratified yet respected workforce: laborers buried in modest but well-built tombs, artisans interred higher on the hillside, and even small mastabas and pyramids constructed for workers. Through burial architecture, grave goods, and settlement remains, we uncover a story not of disposable bodies, but of skilled Egyptians who brought their regional traditions with them in life and in death.Offline Sources Cited:David, A. “As we move up the pyramid of command and control, people stop telling us the truth. We as leaders actually become dumber.” – What if everything you learned about leadership is based on a system designed for sovereigns managing illiterate peasants? In this episode, Peter Laughter – a recovering CEO, Quaker, and self-described student of human connection – challenges the foundations of how we lead organizations. Drawing from his own transformation (from anxiety-ridden command-and-control leader to champion of distributed power), Peter lays out a radically different vision: one where your job as a leader isn't to have the answers, but to make sure the people who do can actually speak up.What You'll Discover:[00:00] Why Disruption Is Just Evolution – And Why We Keep Fighting It→ The biological case for why struggle is the feature, not the bug – and why the gap between technological waves has collapsed[06:00] The Deming Effect: How Market Forces Will Force Leadership Change→ Why big organizations can't change from within, and how a wave of AI-displaced workers will build something better from scratch[12:00] Why Bayer's Top-Down Decentralization Might Be Doomed→ The critical difference between mandating a system and growing one – and lessons from Zappos' Holacracy disaster[18:00] The Becky Moment: When an Employee Called Out Her CEO's Core Values Violation→ Peter's personal turning point – how getting overruled by a team member killed his anxiety and changed his entire leadership philosophy[24:00] How to Actually Start: The “What Are You Seeing?” Framework→ A dead-simple Monday-morning practice that shifts you from having the plan to gathering perspectives[30:00] Why Consensus Is Violence and Decisions Should Be Made by Framework→ How Peter built a values-based decision system where employees could challenge the CEO – and why it produced better outcomes[36:00] Recruiting Is Broken: Why You Should Hire Happy People, Not Desperate Ones→ Why starting the recruiting process before you need someone completely changes who you attract[40:00] The Misconception That Hurt Most: “I Was Supposed to Be The One”→ Peter's answer to what he got wrong – and why he's optimistic about the future despite everythingKey Takeaways:Command and control doesn't just limit organizations – it actively makes leaders dumber by cutting off honest feedbackYou don't need everyone on board to change an organization – 20-30% creates a cascade (Greg Satel's Cascades model)Start any leadership challenge by asking “What are you seeing?” and actually listening for the brilliance in the answerReplace consensus (which beats ideas down to the least common denominator) with values-based decision frameworksThe gap between idea and reality is now nearly zero – and that changes everything about who can build whatAbout Peter:Peter is a former CEO turned leadership advisor whose work centers on what he calls “abundant leadership” – the recognition that power and authority are fluid, not fixed. In this episode, I'm diving into the deeper roots of artificial scarcity and what it truly means to embody abundance. This isn't just about money or manifestation. What came through is a much older separation template — one connected to Atlantis, the split between the spiritual and material worlds, and the ways we've internalized fragmentation in our bodies and relationships. The central theme is Embodied Abundance. I explore the Pyramid of Balance — our relationship with the body, with others, with our service, and with the elements — and why true abundance requires coherence, regulation, and presence. This episode also includes a channeled sacred union transmission from Mary Magdalene and Yeshua, along with a solar plexus recalibration to help dissolve scarcity imprints held in the system.Take what resonates. Let your body integrate. This week's Frankly unpacks humans' current identification with the label "consumer." Consumption is something much deeper and more nuanced than shopping or spending. Nate highlights the ways that it shows up across our whole lives – from basic needs and stability to status and mental escape. He outlines a "consumption pyramid" framework that acts as a map for the different layers of consumption present in daily life, emphasizing that they vary in dependency, reliability, and necessity. This episode also explores why this understanding is especially relevant in a world that will be increasingly volatile, expensive, and uncertain. In the energetically-intensive reality we have lived in for the past few decades, it has been easy to drift to the top of the consumption pyramid without even really choosing to. This has made us increasingly dependent on systems that reliably provide us comfort and convenience. Rather than taking some sort of moral high ground on consumption, Nate aims to invite listeners to pay closer attention to their own patterns of consumption. He analyzes habits that could support stability, and how listeners might intentionally simplify before external circumstances force the issue – mirroring the taking stock he's doing in his own life. Where in your life do you feel most dependent on things always being fast, easy, and available? What kinds of consumption actually make you feel better afterward, not just distracted in the moment? Finally, if you stopped thinking of yourself primarily as a consumer, which other roles – maker, neighbor, caretaker, citizen – do you think would come most clearly into focus? What powered the pyramids has always been the missing question. In this second part of our conversation with Geoffrey Drumm, @thelandofchem , explore a provocative but physically grounded idea: that ancient Egyptian structures tapped into natural electricity: earth currents, lightning, and conductive geology. They channeled this electricity to drive large-scale chemical processes at the pyramids, which we discussed in Part 1. Drawing on field evidence, climate history, and experimental modeling, the discussion reframes Giza not as a ceremonial site, but as an engineered landscape tuned to environmental energy. If this view is even partly correct, it suggests ancient technology didn't fight nature for power...it listened to it.Part 1: https://youtu.be/7vuo5dl5bF4PATREON https://www.patreon.com/c/demystifysciPARADOX LOST PRE-SALE: https://buy.stripe.com/7sY7sKdoN5d29eUdYddEs0bHOMEBREW MUSIC - Check out our new album!Hard Copies (Vinyl): FREE SHIPPING https://demystifysci-shop.fourthwall.com/products/vinyl-lp-secretary-of-nature-everything-is-so-good-hereStreaming:https://secretaryofnature.bandcamp.com/album/everything-is-so-good-herePARADIGM DRIFThttps://demystifysci.com/paradigm-drift-show00:00 Go! In this episode of Longevity by Design, host Dr. Gil Blander sits down with Dr. Nathan Price, Professor and Co-Director at the Buck Institute for Research on Aging. Together, they explore how systems biology, artificial intelligence, and deep health data are changing the way we approach aging and prevention. Nathan explains why looking at single biomarkers falls short and why a network view of biology gives a clearer path to understanding disease and resilience.Nathan shares how new tools, like genetics, proteomics, and the emerging field of digital twins, can help predict disease risk years in advance and guide more effective, personalized interventions. He also discusses how integrating data from wearables, blood tests, and the microbiome can help people move from reactive medicine to proactive health decisions, allowing for interventions that fit the individual. The conversation highlights the promise and practical limits of current technologies, the trade-offs involved in optimizing health, and the power of AI to accelerate both research and personal health journeys. Nathan makes a strong case for the unique biology each person brings to the table and shows how the tools available today can help anyone take charge of their own healthspan in ways not possible before.Guest-at-a-Glance

John Wooden considered enthusiasm a foundational, contagious passion that transforms hard work into exceptional performance. As a cornerstone of his Pyramid of Success, it fuels enjoyment in daily efforts, preventing tedium. He believed genuine love for the task inspires others and is necessary to reach one's full potential.
John Wooden defined loyalty as a core, central element of his Pyramid of Success, emphasizing it as a "cohesive force that forges individuals into a team". It consists of three key components: loyalty to oneself (acting on personal values), loyalty to those depending on you, and maintaining self-respect. It requires unwavering commitment, especially during tough times.
We Play The Pyramid Game.
What if everything we are told about ancient civilizations is completely backwards? In this mind-expanding conversation, engineer and ancient mysteries researcher Tyler Engle breaks down why the ancient sites like the pyramids weren't tombs, they were time capsules. Messages written in stone about the nature of reality they knew their descendants would need to remember. Tyler explains how the recently discovered massive shafts beneath the Giza pyramids were possibly a planetary-scale energy battery and consciousness synchronization system. We explore the mystery of how ancient structures were built with precision impossible even with today's engineering. Tyler reveals technology being developed right now that transmutes matter through quantum geometry, and how this might explain what the ancients were really doing. We dive into plasma as a potentially intelligent life form, the hidden meaning behind crop circles that encode advanced physics, and why indigenous "mythology" about thunder beings might be more literal than we think.Tyler brings an engineer's rigor to topics that usually live in the realm of speculation, showing how ancient wisdom aligns perfectly with cutting-edge physics and our emerging understanding of consciousness as a fundamental force in the universe. We also get into why the educational system was designed the way it was, how to redesign it around hermetic principles, and why some people wake up to these ideas while others fall into traps like flat earth theory. This isn't just about the past—it's about remembering a technology of consciousness that could fundamentally change our future. If you've ever felt like there's something we're missing about how reality actually works, this conversation will give you a framework to understand it. A framework that might be necessary for our very survival. | Tyler Engle |►Website | https://bassforge.us/►Instagram | https://www.instagram.com/bassforge.us/►Tiktok | https://www.tiktok.com/@bassforge.us?lang=en►YouTube | https://www.youtube.com/@BassForge_us►Check Out Tyler Engle's new book Cryptex Esoterica: Divergent Science of the Ancient World | https://shorturl.at/1XdgJ►Check out Tyler and Laurie Engle's new books for kids based on the 7 Hermetic Principles | https://shorturl.at/9pihuThis episode is sponsored by►Metal Mark Golden Collectable Art | https://mtlmrk.com/►Korrect Energy | https://korrectlife.com/| Aubrey Marcus |►Website | http://bit.ly/2GesYqi ►Instagram | http://bit.ly/2BlfCEO ►Facebook | http://bit.ly/2F4nBZk ►X | http://bit.ly/2BlGBAdAdSubscribe to the Aubrey Marcus newsletter:https://www.aubreymarcus.com/pages/emailTo partner with the Aubrey Marcus PodcastSubscribe to the Aubrey Marcus podcast:iTunes | https://apple.co/2lMZRCn Spotify | https://spoti.fi/2EaELZO Stitcher | http://bit.ly/2G8ccJt IHeartRadio | https://ihr.fm/3CiV4x3
