FAI Grassroots Director Ger McDermott joins Eoin and Nathan to discuss the current state of the grassroots plan set out by the FAI to switch the season calendar to summer football.

More than 2,000 years ago, someone sat down and wrote a travel bucket list for the ancient world — suggesting must-see places that we now call The Seven Wonders of the World. It was kind of a Lonely Planet guide of its time, and included the Pyramid of Giza, the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, the lighthouse of Alexandria, and the Temple of Artemis, among others. Historian Bettany Hughes brings monuments and archaeological discoveries back to life in her book, The Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. 

​Archaeologists recently uncovered a mysterious "anomaly" beneath the Western Cemetery near Egypt's Great Pyramid of Giza. Using ground-penetrating radar and electrical resistivity tomography, they identified two underground structures: a shallow L-shaped feature and a deeper, larger one. Both structures appear man-made due to their distinct shapes and densities differing from the surrounding soil. Researchers speculate that the shallow feature might have served as an entrance to the deeper structure, possibly indicating the presence of a tomb. Although pyramids are similar in design, many may have had different or dual functions. The authors propose that ancient Egypt developed and controlled an elaborate power system that was centered around Giza and as far south as Abydos.
