“Everywhere you wear this message or carry it, it creates kinder behavior.” - Kris Wittenberg As we begin our final countdown to launching the 31-Day Kindness Campaign, Dr. Michelle Robin welcomes a very dear and longtime friend to the show, Kris Wittenberg. Kris is the founder of Be Good to People (BGTP), a company that came to be after a negative encounter with a stranger one afternoon in 2008. In today's episode, Dr. Robin reveals why the Be Good to People Foundation has come on board as the Presenting Sponsor this year for the Kindness Campaign. Giving back has always been at the root of Be Good to People. Since day one, 2% of every BGTP merchandise purchase goes to the Be Good to People Foundation to celebrate other GoodDoersTM and their nonprofits, support kind work in communities, and to build kindness education programs in schools. Also in today's episode, Dr. Robin and Kris share an important story about how they met, the wellness benefits of kindness, their personal mental health journey, and why being kind has been hard for many people during these times. Kris wraps up the conversation with some advice she would give younger generations about kindness.   About Today's Guests:  In the spring of 2008, Kris Wittenberg was out at lunch in her small town of Eagle, Colorado, when a woman was rude to her. Looking back, she doesn't retain the exact details, but she does remember what happened that afternoon after the encounter. She came back to her office and wondered why people can't just be good to people. After creating a t-shirt with the words, “Be Good to People” - the brand was born and quickly gained attention among humanity, even earning two kiosks at the Denver International Airport to remind travelers about being kind and providing an opportunity to purchase some of the gear.  Mentioned in the Episode:  BeGoodToPeople.com  Contact Be Good to People about co-branded gear  Be Good to People Merchandise  BGTPFoundation.org  www.BigShifts.org/Kindness - Sign up for the free email series  31 Days of Kindness Decks - for Ages 18 and Up  7 Days of Kindness for Kids Decks – Ages 5 through 18

Is being a perfectionist keeping you from getting anything done? Today, we’re spending time with Kris Wittenberg, founder of Be Good to People, about the challenges of a perfectionist mindset. In 2008, an unkind encounter with a stranger while running errands inspired Kris to ask herself, "WHY CAN'T PEOPLE JUST BE GOOD TO PEOPLE?!" When she returned to her office, she decided to iron "Be Good to People." on a t-shirt to send a message to the world. Before she knew it, she had started a movement. Now, Be Good to People™ has grown from a simple shirt into a fashionable assortment of apparel, accessories, décor, and more. Their products all have a common theme; they inspire people to be kinder and take positive action.Ready to get started? Great! Small Changes Big Shifts with Dr. Michelle Robin

Why can’t people just be good to people? I’m sure we all have asked this numerous times while running errands or out at social gatherings. It’s a simple question and concept but so often people are not kind to one another. Kris Wittenberg of Be Good to People, asked herself this question one day after a run in with a rude person and an hour later was already working on securing a URL and was running with the idea of Be Good to People. It is amazing what a little reminder like a water bottle or shirt that says “be good to people” can do and Kris and her team are changing the way people think, act and speak to one another. They are helping people remember that being kind and good to people is as simple as black and white.

The Strategy Hour Podcast: Online Business | Blogging | Productivity - with Think Creative Collective

Today on the podcast we have Kris Wittenberg of Be Good to People. We fell in with her brand and the impact it was making on people around the world. The idea for Be Good to People was inspired by a rude experience that Wittenberg had back in the spring of 2008 while running errands at lunch. Kris has long forgotten the exact bad experience but the idea that people need to be better to one another has stuck with her ever since. We have loved hearing her message and getting to the root of how she got started. Inside this episode you are going to hear a pretty crazy story, all about how a failed business helped Kris instead follow her passions and her dreams and then how she landed in front of Oprah and Gayle, like actually hugging and seeing Gayle in-person. The impacts of that exposure on her business, on her confidence and on everything Be Good to People stood for. There are a lot of lessons learned here from an entrepreneur who has been in business for a while, so we hope you take away some good nuggets today! Thank you for listening!
