Have you ever felt the weight of being the "strong one" — the person everyone else leans on, while you quietly wonder who you can lean on?   In episode 2 of our Coaching Men podcast series, host Rob Lawrence sits down with Vicky Kelly, a coach who has spent over 15 years specialising in working with men. Vicky shares how, after launching her coaching business in 2009, she found herself naturally drawn to male clients and discovered a profound gap in the support available to them. Her insights into why men often delay seeking help, and what happens when they finally do, are both eye-opening and deeply human.   Vicky works primarily with high-performing professionals and CEOs, who from the outside, appear to have it all together. But beneath the success, many are running on empty, held back by invisible pressures: societal expectations around strength and vulnerability, stress responses that hijack their best thinking, and long-held stories about who they are and what they deserve. Vicky explains her approach of building genuine psychological safety, regulating the nervous system, and gently but powerfully challenging the narratives that keep her clients stuck.   The conversation also ventures beyond the boardroom. What happens when you've climbed the ladder and find yourself asking, "Is this it?" Vicky shares how she helps clients reconnect with forgotten passions and rediscover who they are outside of their professional identity. She also introduces her upcoming group programme, The Capacity Project, designed to help high performers sustain their success without burning out.   You will learn:   ·       The Safe Space Paradox - Men are often slower to seek coaching but once they commit, they go all in. ·       How your nervous system is running the show. Vicky's work with high performers isn't just about strategy; it's about helping men to learn to regulate themselves, so they can actually access the best of their thinking. ·       Questioning the Stories We Tell Ourselves Vicki offers a deceptively simple but powerful question to start dismantling them: "What am I believing here that might not be 100% true?"      "So, it's multiple different demands and a lack of resources: how do I carry myself through all of this without dropping the plates that are spinning or without just sort of spontaneously combusting?"   Don't forget to subscribe, rate, and leave us a review! Something happens when we get older, it often happens subtly and without warning… one day, without meaning to, we put down the things that once made us feel alive. This happens because we have a lack of time or a shortage of funds, we convince ourselves that other things are more deserving of our attention. Life becomes a series of tasks to complete… work, bills, caretaking, responsibilities… wash, rinse, repeat. Our bodies and souls suffer from a life lived in our minds alone. It's time to rediscover the things that we once loved. We must pull the old passions out of the drawer, dust them off, and remember what it felt like to lose oneself to time and to truly be in flow. As we stroll through the forest, take a moment to reflect on the things you've left behind, it's time to reclaim them! What am I reading?A Midnight Pastry Shop Called Hwawoldang by Lee Onhwahttps://bookshop.org/a/111301/9780063468023The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing of Trauma by Bessel Van der Kolkhttps://bookshop.org/a/111301/9780143127741https://bookshop.org/shop/witchywomanwalkingWhat's playing on repeat?LABOUR by Paris Paloma Green Goddess Beans Ingredients:1 tsp olive oil 3 garlic cloves finely chopped or mashed to a paste2 cans of cannellini beans (14 oz cans) drained & rinsed1 bunch kale (12 oz bunch) leaves stripped & finely shredded2 cups vegetable stock 2 sprigs of fresh thyme or 1/2 tsp dried thyme1 sprig of rosemary or 1/2 tsp dried rosemary1⁄2 tsp chilli flakes or to taste1 lemon zest & juicesalt & pepper, to taste1⁄2 cup parmesan cheese3⁄4 cup Greek yogurt (or dairy-free alternative) Sourdough or ciabatta Instructions:Heat oil in a pan over medium-heat and sauté garlic.Add beans and kale and cook for 1-2 minutes to remove any liquid.Transfer half of the bean mixture and half of the stock to a blender and process until smooth.Stir thyme, rosemary, chili flakes and remaining stock through the skillet of beans.Return blended beans back to the skillet, add lemon zest and season with salt and pepper.Stir in most of the cheese and simmer on low heat for 10-15 minutesRemove from heat, mix in lemon juice and adjust seasoning. Swirl yogurt through so it is half mixed in.Top with remaining cheese, and serve with toasted bread.Green SmoothieIngredients:1 cup packed baby spinach½ cup unsweetened plain almond milk½ small very ripe banana¼ cup frozen mango chunks¼ cup frozen pineapple chunks½ tablespoon chia seedsInstructions:Combine 2 cups spinach, 1 cup almond milk, 1 banana, ½ cup frozen mango, ½ cup frozen pineapple and 1 tablespoon chia seeds in a blender; process until smooth, about 1 minute. It is a space where the human spirit can directly receive the "divine gift" of these emotions to shift their internal landscape. How does Reiki help release overthinking and pessimism? Reiki flows with the "authority of compassion" to release cords, connectors, and attachments to world-views or personal injuries that fuel pessimism. Reiki fills you back up with your authentic vitality, optimism, hope, joy and love.  What is the purpose of the "River of Peace" in a meditation? Jonathan Meyer explores the profound and living meaning of one of the most well-known passages in Scripture:   “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son…” (John 3:16)   While many view this verse as a historical event that occurred 2,000 years ago, the Catholic faith reveals a deeper truth: God continues to give His Son to us every day through the Eucharist and the sacraments.   At every Mass, the redeeming sacrifice of Christ is made present again, allowing us to encounter the living Lord and receive the gift of eternal life. John 3:16 is not merely history—it is a present and ongoing reality.   This Easter season, let us: Rediscover the living power of John 3:16. Deepen our love for the Eucharist. Share the beauty of the sacraments with the world. Embrace the truth that God loves you right now.   The tomb is empty. Christ is alive. And His love continues today.   #RiseUp #Catholic #Easter #John316 #Eucharist #Faith #Sacraments #HeIsRisen

What does it mean to truly flourish at work — and why are physician leaders especially vulnerable to losing that? In this episode of SoundPractice, host Mike Sacopulos sits down with MaryCay Durrant, a nationally recognized expert on human fulfillment whose 30-year career has taken her inside transformation efforts at Deloitte, Pepsi, Johnson & Johnson, Hyatt, and — increasingly — the world of healthcare and physician leadership. MaryCay brings a perspective that is part organizational science, part nature wisdom, and entirely focused on helping leaders rediscover what fuels them. Her approach helps human beings flourish at work. The conversation moves from the personal — MaryCay's father was a pediatrician and president of the American College of Physician Executives — to the deeply practical, as she walks through her WORK model, a framework for combating burnout through small, consistent adjustments rather than wholesale system overhaul. As she describes in two compelling case studies, meaningful change happens through small communities of practice — not top-down mandates. Together, we explore the intersection of faith, politics, and identity in the Middle East—confronting how the legacy of empire and the rise of Christian Zionism have distorted the gospel, and how systems of violence continue to shape both perception and policy. At its core, this is a conversation about clarity and courage: listening to Palestinian voices and reexamining what justice, truth, and the gospel really demand.

Nia Hill is an accomplished actress, entertainment executive, producer, and master of reinvention. Like many of us, her earliest attempts at reinvention happened after she started a new school in LA. She was immediately introduced to a new set of beauty and style expectations that were different from what was allowed at her prim and mandatory-uniform Catholic School. Growing up traveling between parents and cities, Los Angeles and Atlanta, provided her with the foundation to assess and adapt to new surroundings quickly. While her mother was stricter in how she allowed Nia to self-express, her father, a well-known comedy agent, was more lenient. Her early exposure to the entertainment business, coupled with music video inspiration on BET, Nia quickly carved out her own path personally and professionally.During our conversation, Nia shared that while she studied acting in college, her father dissuaded her from pursuing a career in acting. The Harlem Renaissance inspired her to move to New York during the early 2000s. After interning at the famous Apollo Theater, she embarked on a career as an executive and landed roles at Comedy Central, The Chappelle Show, and even MTV. Despite a successful career and blossoming relationship with her now-husband, Bill Burr, she was unfulfilled. She transitioned to a full-time stay-at-home mother, but still felt called towards creative work. Nia decided to invest fully in herself and her interests, only to find that she was the career of her dreams. Her current role, as a purveyor of the best in Black fine dining, is created in her image; truly original, funny, and endlessly entertaining. This Christmas, we're delighted to bring back one of our most beloved conversations with Enneagram Three, pastor, and author AJ Sherrill. In this replay, AJ joins me to revisit the Nativity story—not as the sentimental tale we often breeze past each year, but as a rich, multilayered narrative pulsing with mystery, courage, vulnerability, and divine surprise. AJ shares his own journey into spiritual direction, what it's teaching him about listening, presence, and compassion, and how the Enneagram continues to shape his inner world. We explore why the season invites us to slow down, pay attention, and resist the frantic pace that so easily numbs our capacity for wonder. Together, we dig beneath the familiar Christmas imagery to uncover the often-misunderstood characters who surround the manger—the homeowner who offered radical hospitality, Zechariah rediscovering awe through silence, and even Herod, whose shadow side has more to teach us than we might expect. Their stories echo our own desires, fears, and growth edges in striking ways. We also have some fun speculating about the Enneagram archetypes present in the Christmas narrative—Mary, Joseph, John the Baptist, and others—and how their unique postures toward God can inspire our own transformation. This episode is thoughtful, illuminating, and sprinkled with the kind of laughter and honesty that always seems to show up when AJ is with us. A perfect listen for Christmas Day. Settle in, take a breath, and join us as we rediscover the story beneath the story—and the God who meets us there.
