The following tip gives an another example of how the Free Typefi's Autofit plug-in - downloadable from www.typefi.com can be used with InDesign. In this tip you'll learn how text is run-into a Header-Text Frame and a Body Content Text-Frame that are threaded to eachother. As the text is formatted with Paragraph Styles, the Header and Body Content Text Frames automatically grow to fit the header text and to balance the body content across three columns.

Normally, I pick one InDesign feature and build a whole episode around it. However, this is the second anniversary of the podcast, and I wanted to demonstrate that combining InDesign features is far more powerful than using them individually. In this episode, I use six different features -- Anchored Objects, Frame Fitting, Object Styles, GREP, Paragraph Styles and Multi-file Place -- to eliminate all of the repetitive tasks from a layout.

Tables were a welcome addition to InDesign CS. However, one of the most popular requested features has been Table Styles. Ask no more, you now have Table Styles in InDesign CS3. In this episode we'll explore how to create one from scratch. We'll also see how to incorporate Paragraph Styles so that our text is formatted at the same time as our table.

Continuing the Long Documents series with the same book files used in Episode 33, this installment covers how to create an automated, dynamic Table of Contents for an InDesign book. Along the way, I emphasize the unique and critical relationship between an InDesign Table of Contents and Paragraph Styles, without which none of this would be possible.
