This week we're talking to Ryan and Gary Jarman, two thirds of long-running Wakefield, UK sibling trio The Cribs. They just released Selling a Vibe, their terrific ninth album and first in five years, which they made in Brooklyn with Patrick Wimberly of Chairlift as producer. It debuted at #5 on the UK album charts so congrats Cribs on that. We discussed the new album and how having a long pause between records actually made it better. We also talked about The Cribs recent US tour with The Rapture, some of their earliest New York shows, the CMJ festival, how both Ryan and Gary live in the US now -- New York and Portland respectively -- plus Johnny Marr, Janet Weiss, reality television and more. One note: due to some technical difficulties our conversation gets cut off a little early but there is still plenty to listen to. -- Credits: Hosted & produced by Bill Pearis Mixed and mastered by Nick Gray Theme music by Michael Silverstein
In this edition of our arts24 music show, Jennifer Ben Brahim chats with one half of French duo Papooz, Ulysse Cottin, as the pair drop their fourth studio album "Resonate". It's a record full of euphoric sounds and melancholic lyrics, for which they enlisted the help of American songwriter Jesse Harris and superstar producer Patrick Wimberly. Ulysse and Armand first met after a chance encounter waiting in line at a Patti Smith concert. Unsurprisingly then, their music is steeped full of classic sounds, from the Beatles to the Beach Boys and the Velvet Underground.
Our fourth (fourth!) episode celebrates the 10th birthday of Beyoncé's self-titled album — and how she "changed the game with that digital drop" — by jumping into the engine of her chilly, sexy, vividly vehicular track: "No Angel." Cameos include Caroline Polachek, Solange, Prince, Dev Hynes, and Patrick Wimberly. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/divadiscourse/message
Patrick is best known as one half of the band @Chairlift. He's also well known as a music producer in his own right. He's less known for being lead snare of a WORLD CHAMPION drumline team. He's a very gifted and very humble man. We talk about all of those things and more on this week's No Effects.
Caroline Polachek and Patrick Wimberly of Chairlift spoke with OpenAir about the experimental nature of their third album.
On this exciting episode, your hosts Sean Chin and Mehek Seyid talk the final season of American Idol, the new Tegan and Sara album, Bandcamp, and conduct an exclusive interview with Caroline Polachek and Patrick Wimberly of Chairlift (40:55).... The post 105: Chairlift appeared first on LIVE IN LIMBO.
Chairlift's Caroline Polachek and Patrick Wimberly stopped by the Billboard office and had plenty to talk about: how R&B and new age music have shaped them, how Caroline has names for her different singing voices, how Patrick's studio approach is different from many producers. Both agree that driven artists with a clear vision enjoy the most success in the music world. Prepare to be inspired. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
