Segment 1: • “No Kings Day” raises deeper questions—do we actually want a King? • In a world of political chaos and rising persecution, Christians must remember: Jesus reigns. • America may reject kingship, but your soul was made to serve one. Segment 2: • Brandon Lake says it's time to ditch hymns—revealing our shallow view of worship. • Small churches are stronger in faithfulness; megachurches invite spectators, not soldiers. • The therapy trend among pastors points to a deeper crisis of biblical confidence. Segment 3: • Brandon Lake performs emotional worship on American Idol—but where's the theology? • Worship isn't therapy—it's truth that transforms. • Weak worship might be what's weakening the church. Segment 4: • Luther Seminary in MN is shutting down—another sign of theological decay. • A filed-away statement of faith is not the same as actually teaching truth. • Even when institutions collapse, Christ remains faithful. ___ Thanks for listening! Iam Tongi is the Hawaiian kid who broke everyone on American Idol Season 23. He showed up heartbroken—his dad had just passed 3 months before. Music was always their thing. He almost quit completely. But his mom secretly signed him up for Idol anyway. Then he sang “Monsters”… and the world felt it. That was the moment. He won Season 23, but losing his dad forced him to find his own voice, live, on television. When his guitar broke during Hollywood Week, he knew—this was his dad telling him he could do it on his own. Now? He just dropped “Unbreak My Heart,” plus “Sunshine” that he wrote for his mom, performed at the Opry, CMA Fest, even has a track in Lilo & Stitch, plus an album in the works… All while losing 110 pounds, still grieving, still growing—and singing from a place only he can. Iam Tongi is a true inspiration, lifting hearts around the world with his voice and story.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

In this rebroadcast from season 9, Carrie Fox sits down with Dana Snyder, a digital strategist for nonprofits and the CEO and founder of Positive Equation. Snyder, who has supported organizations like Movember, Dress for Success, and American Idol, shares her insights on how nonprofits can effectively reach new audiences in the ever-evolving digital landscape.Consider, for example, the importance of strategic investment in social media. How are organizations to determine which channels to focus their resources on based on their values and target audience? Snyder emphasizes the significance of data-driven decision-making, recommending tools like Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors interact with an organization's website and social media channels. But more importantly, she highlights how most individuals are tilted toward good, and that your audience might just be comfortable in large numbers on platforms you personally find misaligned with your own values. Throughout the episode, Snyder stresses the importance of being genuinely social on social media platforms, creating platform-specific content, and fostering meaningful connections with followers. She suggests that organizations consider hiring virtual assistants to manage their social media presence if it aligns with their budgets and priorities. The conversation also touches on the role of artificial intelligence in content creation for nonprofits. Snyder offers practical advice on how to train AI tools to generate relevant and engaging content while staying true to an organization's mission and values. For nonprofits looking to make the most of their social media efforts, this episode of Mission Forward offers valuable insights and actionable tips from a seasoned digital strategist. An influential figure in music, she was ranked as the fifth greatest singer of all time by Rolling Stone in 2023.Carey rose to fame in 1990 with her self-titled debut album and became the only artist to have their first five singles reach number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, from "Vision of Love" to "Emotions". With eleven consecutive years of US number-one singles, Billboard named Carey the Artist of the Decade. "One Sweet Day" and "We Belong Together" were ranked by Billboard as the most successful songs of the 1990s and 2000s, respectively. In this episode of Hollywood Stories: Tales From Television, Richard Rushfield takes us back to the heyday of the original “American Idol” in the aughts and early 2010s, when the Fox juggernaut dominated conversation everywhere from “Howard Stern” to the “Today” show and produced megastars like Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood. But there was one powerful figure behind the scenes whose quiet devotion touched future superstars from Katherine McPhee to Jordin Sparks: Pastor Leesa Bellesi. Through her American Idol Ministry, Bellesi not only prayed for the success of these contestants, but she also helped them and their families navigate the harsh spotlight of sudden fame that glared upon even the ones who didn't make it far. Richard chronicled Bellisi's incredible journey in his 2011 book, “American Idol: The Untold Story,” and now, more than two decades later, they revisit it together as she recalls her spiritual connection with the show and its stars — from the Bible passage that bonded her with McPhee to a fateful prayer circle with judge Paula Abdul. "It was such a God thing," she tells Richard. "The prayers that I prayed in that room are living themselves out still to this day." Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Send us a textThe most powerful encouragers often struggle to encourage themselves. This paradox forms the heart of our conversation as we explore how small, intentional acts of affirmation can transform someone's entire outlook. When's the last time you sent that morning text to your spouse? Acknowledged someone's hard work with specific praise? Or simply told someone "I'm proud of you"? These seemingly minor gestures can become lifelines for the people around us. We share personal stories about how unexpected encouragement lifted us during moments of self-doubt – like the worship leader questioning their performance who receives a timely, specific compliment, or the weight-loss journeyer who needs that regular accountability and celebration of progress. What makes encouragement truly effective isn't grand gestures but genuine attention to what matters to someone. Setting reminders for your friend's important day, noticing specific efforts rather than general outcomes, and being present when someone needs affirmation. We dive into the fascinating dynamic between outward confidence and inner self-consciousness – how many of us "portray confidence while feeling self-conscious" in our work, ministry, and relationships. The conversation takes unexpected turns through American Idol critiques, martial arts training adventures, and summer movie recommendations (including an F1 racing film starring Brad Pitt that surprisingly has us all interested). But the message remains clear throughout: your encouragement matters more than you know, and someone in your life desperately needs to hear from you today. What small step could you take right now to lift someone else's spirits? We're putting Producer Jessica's mother-in-law Sherrie to work and having her interview the stars! First up was American Idol champ and current star of "A Beautiful Noise" Nick Fradiani. How did she do? Why did she try and make up a story about Neil Diamond and Caroline Kennedy?
Sammy Hagar is up first this week. His new song "Encore, Thank You, Goodnight" is out now. Sammy talks about the song, how it came to him in a dream, and why Wolfgang Van Halen didn't play on it. Sammy is really upfront and candid when he talks, which is appreciated. He also shared his thoughts on playing the last Ozzy/Black Sabbath show and the songs he'll be singing. Doug Aldrich from The Dead Daisies is next. Doug fought a cancer battle last year and talked about that. I'm very happy that he's come out of it, and he says he gets stronger every day. The band dropped a new album called Looking For Trouble, where they cover classic blues songs. He told me how the idea came about and spoke about the recording process and location. He also shared stories of rockers, including David Coverdale of Whitesnake, Ronnie James Dio, Reb Beach, and the first time he met Randy Rhoads. I could talk to Doug all day! Finally, singer Nate Peck joins me. This is the first time I've ever had the chance to speak with Nate. The Michigan-born singer talks about being on American Idol, through getting the job with Firehouse. The first gig they played, he didn't even get to rehearse! Nate speaks of his influences, singing these classic songs, and lots more. It was great to connect with Nate!
