Today I talk to Randy, who was our guinea pig for Retale. We talk about coffee shop life, customers that really stood out, and spitting in coffee? That’s right. Spitting in coffee. We are finally here, folks. A few months ago, we received an anonymous submission through our email (ThrowTheFlagNetwork@gmail.com), which included a 28 page, 12,000 word, unfinished masterpiece named "Retail". For reasons that will be revealed in this SIX-PART series, we re-branded the novella as "Retale". For more information, check out the first 90 seconds of Episode 11. Over the next few months, we're going to bring you the story of Retale over six episodes, broken up with the usual crappy poetry you've come to know and love from Cold Dog Soup. When the story concludes, we're going to do our best to finish the journey. If you wrote this story and would like to identify yourself as the author, please email us with identifying information in your original message. Executively Produced, as always, by Cassie Reid Moore. This podcast is powered by Pinecast.
Working in retail can be a stressful and thankless experience, but as in all things, the internet is there to help. NotAlwaysRight is a place where visitors can share their stories of totally pwning the customers they had to deal with and how impressed everyone was with that experience. This week, The F Plus wonders "God, what is this madness?" PS: Lemon apologizes in advance for confusing Kevin McCarthy with Mark McKinney. It's eating him up inside.
Have you thought of your in-store mobile strategy as different from your out-of-store mobile strategy? When it comes to retail and commerce, both are required. Why? Chuck answers that as he highlights the results from a new study by Retale on the behaviours of consumers while they are in-store versus out of store here.
Is there a disconnect between the technology that retailers are looking to deploy inside their stores and the likelihood that it will be used by their customers? It is a known fact that most retailers are far behind the curve when it comes to mobile - it is often their customers that are more savvy and more advanced when it comes to the devices they carry - but is that about to change? Apple's iBeacon technology and NFC may be reshaping the retail landscape but are consumers interested in being watched, prodded and pushed this way? Are WE as consumers ready for this? A recent study by Retale paints the current picture and we highlight some of the key findings here.
