The Majority Report with Sam Seder
It's News Day Tuesday! Sam and Emma break down the biggest headlines of the day. First, they run through updates on the subpoena of Donald Trump, E. Jean Carroll's new charges against Trump, a vehicular strike on the White House, the slow acceptance of greedflation theory by economic elites, and Ron DeSantis' police, also tackling Kevin McCarthy and Joe Biden agreeing on their desire to potentially agree to negotiate an agreement on the debt ceiling negotiation. Sam and Emma dive a little deeper into the absurd coverage of the greed factor in inflation, the lingering desire to make it seem like a fringe factor, and how to push the Fed to actually tackle this issue. They then parse through Minnesota's incredible progress with a trifecta and a one-seat Senate majority, walking through the history of the DFL, the incredible pro-labor legislation they're passing, and the importance of actually using power when you have it (*cough* national Democrats *cough*). And in the Fun Half: MR has some technical troubles (totally unrelated to the gerontocratic control of the studio), they watch Newsmax talking heads demean Fox for following the same human rights laws that they – as residents of NYC – also must follow, and Ren from Oregon dives into the private debt issue in the US. Mike from Portland solves Sam's computer issues, William from Portland reflects on the legacy of Michael Brooks, and Greg from Beaumont dives into tacit collusion, before Brian from Germany parses through some crazy attacks on mutual aid activism in North Carolina. Mississippi schools crack down on any non-normative gender expression, and Tusli runs to the defense of killer Daniel Penny, plus, your calls and IMs! Mea Culpa welcomes back our good friend, Brooklyn Dad Defiant, or simply BDD. BDD is a left-wing political commentator on Twitter, YouTube, and various other social media platforms. His outspoken defiance and often humorous take on the Trump administration have earned him over 1.2 million Twitter followers. Since the riots at the Capitol on January 6, BDD has used his platform to bring attention to GOP lawmakers like MTG, Cruz, Jordan, and Biggs, asking that they face consequences for their actions in connection to the insurrection. In addition, he is keeping watch over Kevin McCarthy and the GOP Congress over what he sees as the far-right hijacking of our legislature and courts to push through a damaging, extremist agenda. He calls himself a proud papa who is perpetually pissed. He's a fascinating guy. BBD and Michael dig deep into Rudy, DeSantis and what's in store for Trump.
The debt limit issue is still hanging there and Joe Biden and Kevin McCarthy are set to meet today. In the last year, a lot has changed in Washington for progressives like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.). In 2021 and 2022, with Democrats controlling the House, she and her allies could block any piece of legislation if they held together. Their big fights were with moderate Democrats over how many trillions of dollars to spend on President Joe Biden's agenda. And they had easy access to the White House with Ron Klain as Biden's chief of staff. Now they are in the minority and far from the negotiating room where Joe Biden is trying to make a budget deal with Kevin McCarthy to get him to raise the debt ceiling. Their main fight is trying to stop the president from caving to McCarthy on what they view as draconian budget cuts and policies that would weaken the social safety net. And over at the White House, it's not really clear who they should call anymore. AOC is keenly aware of these changed circumstances. She's been carefully watching the debt limit debate play out and she has a clear view of what it's all about: power, not policy. In this episode of Playbook Deep Dive, Rep. Ocasio-Cortez tells host and Playbook co-author Ryan Lizza how House progressives can flex their muscles right now; and how she's learned to use her unique influence to affect legislation, even when she's not at the table. Finally, she has some advice – and a warning – for Joe Biden as we approach the endgame of the debt limit. Ryan Lizza is a Playbook co-author for POLITICO. Kevin McCarthy and his band of economic terrorists continue to hold the U.S. and world economies hostage, demanding spending cuts that would gut the entire U.S. government and leave the most needy Americans in gravest jeopardy. The president continues to negotiate but also has had to head off to the G7 meeting in Japan to keep our allies from panicking in the face of our dysfunctional political system. But even if we dodge this bullet, damage has been done and the future of the dollar looks less certain. Ed Luce of the Financial Times and host David Rothkopf discuss where this can lead and what it all may mean for China, Ukraine, and other major international concerns. The Rich Zeoli Show- Hour 2: On Tuesday, President Joe Biden met with Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) in hopes of successfully negotiating a debt ceiling increase. No agreement was reached. Earlier this month, House Republicans passed legislation that would cut long-term federal spending while concurrently raising the federal debt limit. While speaking at Howard University over the weekend, President Joe Biden proclaimed that the greatest threat to America is white supremacy. Eli Lake—Contributing Editor at Commentary Magazine & Host of “The Re-Education Podcast”—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to discuss John Durham's report indicating the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) did not have sufficient reason to launch an investigation into groundless allegations that there were ties between Donald Trump's 2016 campaign and Russian officials. What can be done to curtail the FBI's, seemingly habitual, abuse of power moving forward? It's News Day Tuesday! Sam breaks down the biggest headlines of the day. First, he runs through updates on the debt ceiling talks and whether Biden will cave, reports on the moral and political corruption of Rudy Giuliani, the release of the Durham report, the US Virgin Island's case against Elon Musk, Erdogan's election repression, the booming rejection of Cop City at Atlanta's recent city council hearing, the swearing in of Brandon Johnson as Chicago Mayor, Minnesota labor legislation, and the IRS' report on their own discrimination, before parsing through the Right-Wing spin on the empty Durham report. Next, Sam and the MR Crew dive into the debt ceiling debate and the leaked news of Democrats playing defense for Kevin McCarthy, and whether it actually foreshadows decent strategy from the Biden camp. Wrapping up, they preview today's special elections in Pennsylvania and tackle the expansive corruption of Rudy Giuliani recently released, from sexual assault to the sale of pardons, and the role of US intelligence. And in the Fun Half: Sam and the MR Crew discuss the ridiculous emphasis on work requirements after decades of their failure, the clear rejection of the multi-million dollar Cop City investment by Atlanta community members, and why the right is still screaming “Laptop!” Josh Hawley talks about his manhood, a Louisville caller dives into the barriers of tackling white supremacy exclusively through class analysis, and Carly from Philadelphia dives into the HD-163 race in Pennsylvania. The crew uncovers some information about Bari Weiss' UATX grift, Ben Shapiro rants about the biology of anthropomorphized beavers on Blue's Clues, Marily from Tucson dives into the threat to one's life that is being jailed in America, and Maya from Grand Rapids discusses the role of COVID funds moving forwards. Happy Monday! Sam hosts Kidada E. Williams, associate professor of history at Wayne State University, to discuss her recent book I Saw Death Coming: A History of Terror and Survival in the War against Reconstruction. Sam begins the show by talking about the upcoming debt ceiling battle, and how it seems increasingly likely that Biden is going to cave to Kevin McCarthy and the Republicans by agreeing to some spending caps and additional work requirements, when he absolutely doesn't have to if he and his administration had any creativity whatsoever. Then, Kidada joins the show and Sam and her start off by recapping what The "Dunning School" of history was, how it came about, and what its essential project was (sanitizing the Confederacy, as well as the racist, violent legacy of post-Civil War Reconstruction.) Sam and Professor Williams also marvel at how successful the project of the Dunning School was, highlighting anecdotally how minimal amounts of time and resources were dedicated in classrooms to fully fleshing out the harmful Reconstruction's effects on black Americans actually were. Professor Williams then dives into her scholarship, where she located direct testimony from families taken in the field by members of Congress in the post-Civil War South, and how these testimonies paint a picture of what really happened after the Civil War supposedly "ended": the fighting became a sort of guerrilla war against free black people, and the war itself didn't neatly "end", so to speak. Professor Williams recounts, per her research, the gratuitous and brutal violence free black people faced even after being released from bondage, and even after receiving the rights that they did not possess before prior to the Civil War. They wrap up the conversation by centering the issues of white supremacy and how crucial they are to what happened during Reconstruction: a concerted effort and investment in the furtherance of white supremacy, not just by white Southerners, but by white Northerners too, in the project of continuing to marginalize and subjugate free black people. And in the Fun Half, Sam talks about Latino truckers taking to social media to call for a boycott of Florida because draconian immigration laws proposed under Gov. Ron DeSantis, Elon Musk's free speech crusades on Twitter resulting in censoring people on the site to not upset the Turkish government, a decision that even pissed off Enes Kanter Freedom. Protesters with Climate Defiance demonstrate at Sen. Amy Klobuchar's book event ("The Joy Of Politics", in stores near you!), and the weekend Fox & Friends crew get upset with President Biden for daring to utter the words "white supremacy" when talking about the famously not-racist United States. Countdown with Keith Olbermann
EPISODE 198: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (1:43) SPECIAL COMMENT: A huge news day begins and ends with the jury finding, gee, guess what, Donald Trump IS a witch. Liable for sexual abuse against E. Jean Carroll and liable to show up on CNN tonight anyway. The CNN thing is the world coming full circle: three decades ago E. Jean Carroll was inadvertently responsible for launching both MSNBC and Fox News. George Santos has been indicted but nobody would reveal for what - unless Rep. Dan Goldman let the cat out of the bag by saying the Feds had gotten him for "election fraud." The weirdest twist: Capitol Hill Police went to Santos's office out of "an abundance of caution." Did they think he had tried to harm himself? Nothing but stern words after the Biden-McCarthy debt ceiling meeting but POTUS himself invokes the 14th Amendment and the prospect he may say he is constitutionally OBLIGATED to prevent debt default no matter which stunt McCarthy tries. Confirmation from Texas: the Allen Mall shooter WAS a white supremacist named Garcia, with Nazi tattoos, and the conspiracy theory fascists like Elon Musk are idiots. Harlan Crow, the man who owns his own pet Supreme Court Justice, may soon own a subpoena from Finance Committee Chairman Wyden after blowing him off. And there has been a Dianne Feinstein sighting! (Well no, actually, there was just a press release from her staff saying there would BE a Feinstein sighting). B-Block (20:22) IN SPORTS: A Fox Sports/WFAN Radio host may be up to his neck in it after wildly accusing the team with baseball's best record of "cheating" - without any evidence or even made-up story. Trevor Bauer gets beaten up. And the A's are moving again before they even get to Las Vegas. (23:11) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: Putin tanks his own parade, Musk and Tucker Carlson join forces to make the world safe for trust fund babies, and Melania Trump endorses Donald Trump because SOMEBODY'S CONTRACT MUSTA BEEN RENEWED. C-Block (29:00) EVERY DOG HAS ITS DAY: 8-month old puppy Bruno, on the kill list in Big Bear, California (30:00) THINGS I PROMISED NOT TO TELL: Willie Mays turns 92. Not only am I still hoping to recover from the radio interview I did with him in 1979 in which HE PRETENDED TO BE SOMEBODY ELSE, but even in the birthday stories nobody mentioned that after establishing himself as a budding big league superstar Mays missed nearly two full seasons when he was drafted into the army - while all the young white players WEREN'T. That clearly cost him a shot at breaking Babe Ruth's career Home Run record.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Live from the Heart of America—I'm Steve Gruber—ready to deliver an inclusive and diverse discussion on the most important topics of the day—giving you better analysis and insight that anyone else—shining a spotlight on the cockroaches of the swamp—and delivering truth and justice just when hope was starting to fade— Here are the 3 Big Things you need to know to start today— Number One— Finally some common sense from a governing body in sports—as a trans-woman is barred from competing in track and field events—against actual women in the Olympics— Number Two— For the first time in almost 90 days—President Biden finally opened up the Oval Office to Republicans to discuss how to raise the debt ceiling—but Kevin McCarthy says it could be too late— Number Three— It might be too late to head off a complete collapse at America's southern border— Joe Biden and his administration have for two and a half years ignored the growing tide of humanity flooding into our nation illegally—and turning a blind eye to the destruction that is certain to follow— Communities on the border are already far beyond the breaking point—and yet President Biden does nothing to address the problem or turn back the tide of hundreds of thousands of people— 6 and a half million have already flowed in—and some say as many as another 700 thousand could soon follow in their tracks—and no one in the Administration is doing anything about it— The problem is—the crisis is already out of control and the shelters are already beyond the breaking point— So where is the Border Czar—and Joe Bidens Vice President Kamala Harris? It's a fine question—because it seems she isn't worried about the total collapse of America's border—or the threat created by these people flowing in—unchecked and unvetted— Joe Biden has been ducking questions on the border for years now—while Karine Jean Pierre and Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkis just keep lying about it on a daily basis and continue to claim—falsely, that the border is secure—because everyone knows—that is just not true— Yes it seems there is no place to pivot—the invasion is in full swing—and the surge that was expected to start with the end of Title 42 in another day—has hit its stride early— And Joe Biden—the man who took an oath to defend this country—just keeps staring blankly into the abyss—ignoring the obvious failures of his administration— And hosting meaningless events at the White House—where he is barely able to function many days—

Countdown with Keith Olbermann
EPISODE 197: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (1:44) SPECIAL COMMENT: The United States of America is under attack by armed right-wing terrorists. The Texas Mall Shooter and every other one bent on killing the enemies living in their own mind might as well be Suicide Bombers, might as well be ISIS. The receipts on the Texas Mall Shooter are a mile long; he was a right wing media addict, he dedicated a hate-filled online rant to the terrorist “Libs Of Tik Tok” twitter account, he posted screenshots from the right-wing troll Tim Pool, a swastika tattoo covered those parts of his body not covered by an SS tattoo, he signed one comment with the name Adolf Hitler, he repeatedly posed in NAZI uniforms, he used a meme that suggested there were only two routes for Latino children: identify as black or become a white supremacist, and his pedigree as a right-wing, MAGA-inspired, neo-Nazi, perpetrator of stochastic terrorism, fueled by every component of Donald Trump and his coalition of hate, could not possibly be more easily discovered, more rapidly verified, more thoroughly self-convicting… and the right completely denies any of it is true. I do not know what we do about the people in a society who deny any fact that does not serve them. Only once before was the nation faced with a third or more of its citizens believing in things that were did not true and did not exist, and that was before and during the Civil War. It sounds like madness to ask WHEN we need to consider an Executive Order declaring a State of National Emergency about right-wing terrorism but look at Allen, Texas and imagine the dozens and hundreds and thousands of Mauricio Garcias out there, becoming literally connected to the Proud Boys and a just-slightly-more-evil version of CPAC or MAGA or another Trump front group and then ask yourself what other means EXIST for us to stop a pervasive nation-wide violent suicidal reality-denying cult that looks ahead to November 5th, 2024, and sees opportunity. B-Block (15:25) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: Tucker Carlson's first heavy-hitter, Conservative icon ally in his newly-launched war against Fox is BRETT FAVRE? Was he wearing pants? Junior Trump has never heard of Nick Fuentes? MSNBC took WHOSE money? (18:27) POSTSCRIPTS TO THE NEWS: One of the great New York newscasters, John Roland, has died at the age of 81. By itself, his career is worthy of remembrance. But to me he in part defines my youth: when I was 19 I was an intern in his newsroom, as I witnessed for the first time the bloody transition from a mandarin of anchors, Bill Jorgensen, to Roland. It's an amazing story from an amazing newscast best remembered for the words with which it began: It's 10 PM. Do you know where your children are? C-Block (37:30) POSTSCRIPTS TO THE NEWS, PART 2: The thing is, to get my one college credit for spending the summer of 1978 working on Channel 5's "The 10 O'Clock News" and a half-hour nightly prototype of SportsCenter called "SportsPage" (with the man who a year later would anchor the first-ever episode OF SportsCenter), I had to write a very long, very blunt paper on my experience. I thought only my supervisor at Channel 5 and my professor would see it. Then, she liked it so much she made 100 copies and distributed it to her staff. Suddenly everybody knew which reporter all the producers called "Ted Baxter" and which talent drank so much that he'd be dead within five years. I still have the paper: I'll read you the highlights.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

With all three bartenders back together and John Yoo in the host chair, the gang wonders why it is that Robert F. Kennedy Jr is so far making the most sense in the 2024 presidential race, how it is that Kevin McCarthy has (stop the presses!) actually impressed Lucretia, and why the obviously political attacks on Justice Clarence Thomas expose the left at their power-grasping worst. But then we get back to school, with John expressing his usual faux-puzzlement about the New York Times's genuine puzzlement of why conservatives "still" like Aristotle. Too bad there isn't an Aristotle for Dummies title we can send the Times, but we do manage to sort out John. Finally, we round out this episode with some mockery of the high octane decadence of the ruling class as seen by the scheduing of the Met Gala and the White House Correspondents Dinner within 48 hours of each other last week. It must be exhausting for our rulers to keep up this kind of social schedule, not to mention the expense of the wardrobe. Tune in for Piers Morgan's fantastic headline about the scene, and grab a can of Raid.

On Monday's Mark Levin Show, a political party is an organized attempt to gain control of the government, and the Democrat party seeks to gain control and keep it through a one-party state. That is when you know you are dealing with a totalitarian party. The Democrat socialists like AOC and Bernie Sanders have fundamentally taken over the base of the Democrat party, who Nancy Pelosi and President Biden had to bow to and are now doing their bidding. The administrative state exists for the Democrat party and has since FDR, and it leaks and undermines Republican administrations so even if they win elections they still lose. Also, Kevin McCarthy gave a speech in Israel while Biden still has not invited Benjamin Netanyahu to the United States, and secularist Democrats just do not care. McCarthy is speaking out about the Iran regime's aggression and its threat to Israel, and at the same time the Biden administration is ignoring Israel while helping Iran.
