Episode Notes Hey everyone… Before we dive into a great conversation this afternoon with Rod I wanted to share a memory that goes along with the theme: a genie for Christmas. When I was much much much much much younger, our elementary school used to put on a Christmas extravaganza and each grade have their own play. For a while, one of my younger cousins was staying with our family while his mom was out of the country for work. It was during the Christmas season and she would be home the day before Christmas Eve, which that year was the last day of school for us and the day of the Christmas extravaganza. The kindergarten class which my younger cousin was in always performed.a teacher written play based on the 12 days of Christmas and my little cousin was chosen for the exclusive part of: five golden rings! So the big surprise was for my aunt to slip in the back of the auditorium during the extravaganza And surprise my cousin! Well… The surprise worked! I don't remember if it was eight… Nine… 10… But during the countdown when there was that wonderfully dramatic pause, my cousin would ring out in his clear beautiful voice: five golden rings. However, during that eight, nine, 10 or what number it was he looked up and saw his mom sneaking into the back of the auditorium and instead of calling out five golden rings, he said in the sweetest, most vulnerable most affectionate voice: Hi mommy And the whole audience corrupted in cheers and well meaning laughter. To this day, I can still very clearly remember the look on his face and the sound in his voice when he realized his mom was there to see him perform. I have a lot of favorite Christmas memories, but this one is definitely and the top five. But I digress as I'm known to do… Hopefully Many of you will listen to this great conversation with Rod later on today This Sunday on Sunday Edition with Anthony Corona 1 PM Eastern on 20/20 The BEACON — or later wherever you get your podcasts. Get ready for a jam-packed episode featuring the one and only Rod Clemmons — Grammy-nominated, totally blind independent R&B artist, songwriter, music producer, keyboardist, conductor, and now, a rising force in film and television. Rod joins Anthony to talk about his upcoming R&B album, his groundbreaking media projects, and the deeply personal holiday movie that's capturing hearts: “A Jeannie for Christmas.” Inspired by beloved music teacher Jeannie Boyce and the legendary student Christmas productions at the Arkansas School for the Blind, this film is a heartwarming, authentic celebration of community, tradition, and talent. What makes it even more special? It features actual blind and low vision elementary and high school students—bringing real representation to the screen, employing blind talent both in front of and behind the camera. A Jeannie for Christmas is proudly endorsed by the American Council of the Blind and the American Foundation for the Blind and is shaping up to be a landmark in inclusive holiday storytelling. Rod will also share updates on his three original television series in development, including The Doodie Doos, a cartoon series created with fellow Grammy-nominated artist Dan Kenneth, and Best Friends, a heartfelt slice-of-life half-hour show. 17% of children in Tennessee face food insecurity. TN Democratic State House Rep. John Ray Clemmons proposed legislation to provide free school meals — breakfast and lunch — to all TN children regardless if they meet federal SNAP benefit requirements. This isn't the first time Clemmons has introduced this legislation. He's brought this bill forward every year since 2018. It has yet to prevail. In this episode of the Spirit of Bipartisanship, Angie Lawless and Brandon Miller sit down with Republicans Rep. Ron Travis and Rep. Todd Warner and Clemmons to discuss the legislation.

In this episode we're diving deep into the power of authenticity, self-expression, and unapologetically living your truth with someone who's made it his life's work to guide others out of their metaphorical closets. My guest for this episode is Rick Clemmons—a mindset shifter, closet buster, and all-around authenticity guru. Rick is the author of Frankly My Dear, I'm Gay, the host of two incredible podcasts Life (UN)Closeted) and 40 Plus: Gay Men)- which I've had the pleasure of guesting on, and a life coach for gay men who are ready to shed excuses, fears, and apologies to step fully into their truth. In this episode, Rick introduces us to his fabulous inner drag avatar, Limonad Pop, and shares how embodying this alter ego has helped him tap into his authenticity and creativity. He takes us through his journey of coming out at 36, how it reshaped his life, and what it taught him about living unapologetically. We explore what gets in the way of people's authenticity, and Rick shares a powerful story that reminds us we're not responsible for how others see us. Together, we unpack how fear and love factor into the quest for truth and how coming out can be a kind of “training” for queer folks to connect with their deeper selves—a practice that can transform all areas of life.Rick also shares the framework he uses to help clients take big leaps of faith toward alignment and authenticity—whether it's coming out, changing careers, or embracing life's biggest transitions. And, of course, we talk relationships. Rick opens up about navigating an open marriage with his husband and how staying true to themselves has strengthened their bond. Finally, we close with gratitude for the divine maker that made each of us unapologetically us.Check out Rick Clemmon's podcast 40 Plus Gay Men Gay Talk here- https://rickclemons.com/coming-out-resources/40-plus-gay-men-gay-talk-podcast/Connect with Wil Fisher here- https://www.wil-fullyliving.com/Support the show
For much of her life, Angelique Renville had decisions made for her. Where to live, who to live with, where to attend school, what to do with her land. That changed in 1863 when she made a plan and successfully hatched her plan to escape, living the end of her life on her own terms. This is the story Dr. Linda Clemmons tells in Unrepentant Dakota Woman: Angelique Renville & the Struggle for Indigenous Identity, 1845-1876 (South Dakota State Historical Society Press, 2023). Hers is a story, yes, of defeat and loss, but also so much more than that. Of a young woman carving her own path through a world in flux, and finding space to make choices even when those choices are limited. And it's a story with afterlives, as the web of connections created by Renville during her life continued even after her untimely death in 1876. As a work of biography, Unrepentant Dakota Woman does not pretend to speak for all Dakota women, or even all 19th century Dakota women born into fur trade families, but does show how one life can both embody the historical forces that shape our stories, and how our choices can overcome even the strongest headwinds. What makes you feel safe? Is it a familiar voice on the phone, a particular place, friends or family by your side, your spiritual beliefs or even a favorite blanket? What about a person outside your personal circle, like a paramedic, a lifeguard, a firefighter or a police officer?20-year-old Joseph said that people should feel safe around police officers, but that isn't always the case in Durham, North Carolina—where he lives—and elsewhere. He says, “I think that police officers almost have to have a—not necessarily nurturing aspect, but kind of like a—sense of safety about them. Because you should feel safe around police officers, you know? I don't necessarily know how to put that in a word, but I think that you should definitely just feel safe around police officers.”So how can police departments increase safety and earn trust in the communities where they work? University of Denver Assistant Professor of Public Policy Ajenai Clemmons' research answers these questions that can extend beyond North Carolina. On this episode of RadioEd, co-host Jordyn Reiland chats with Clemmons about how the men she interviewed made sense of policing in their neighborhood—and what they needed to both be safe and feel safe.More information:What the Durham Police Department Can Do to Enhance Safety and Earn Trust

The pay is less than minimum wage and has been frozen for decades. The length of sessions has gotten much longer and more unpredictable. And, of course, in recent years, the political rancor […]

In this enlightening episode of the Traveling Therapist podcast, we're joined by Allyson Clemmons, who shares her intriguing journey from being a traditional therapist in the U.S. to embracing a nomadic lifestyle across Europe. Starting her new life initially in Greece due to a combination of love and a longstanding desire to live overseas, Allyson navigates the complexities of different visa regulations and cultural adjustments. Her move to Albania presents new opportunities and insights into the practicalities of living and working abroad as a digital nomad. Allyson's experiences highlight the nuances of adjusting to local customs, managing accommodations that align with tourist seasons, and transitioning through various countries while maintaining a sense of home and professional stability. Allyson also delves into the challenges of managing a therapy practice across significant time zone differences, illustrating the logistical hurdles of aligning her schedule with clients back in the U.S. She discusses strategic decisions about licensing and client management that have facilitated smoother operations of her practice. Looking forward, Allyson contemplates potential moves to either Thailand or Argentina, weighing the impacts on her professional and personal life. Additionally, she offers valuable advice to other therapists considering a similar path, focusing on marketing strategies for private practices and navigating international regulations. Her journey underscores the importance of flexibility, preparation, and resilience in the life of a traveling therapist. Key Points: Transition to Greece and Albania: Allyson discusses her move from the U.S. to Greece and later Albania due to love and her desire to live abroad. She details navigating visa requirements and the cultural and administrative challenges encountered along the way. Adapting Practice Across Time Zones: Allyson explains the complexities of maintaining her therapy practice across different time zones, focusing on the logistical difficulties of scheduling and conducting sessions from Europe with clients in the U.S., specifically Oregon and later Massachusetts. Future Plans and Digital Nomad Insights: She shares her future relocation plans to potentially Thailand or Argentina, reflecting on how each location might impact her therapy practice. Allyson also gives insights into managing a dual career, including her work in marketing for therapists and holistic healers. About Allyson Clemmons: I am a licensed therapist and private practice marketing strategist for modality-based therapists and practitioners, holistic healers, and complementary/alternative medicine providers. I help my clients learn and master the marketing skills necessary to be able to fill their caseloads with private-pay clients so that they can leave behind the hassle and headache of being in-network with insurance companies, see fewer than 12 clients/week, and achieve time, money, and location freedom. I do this through teaching my clients how to find and speak to the type of client they'd love to fill their entire caseload with — without having to dance on TikTok or use bro-marketing strategies. LoveBabz LoveTalk: Nico W. Okoro and Erik Clemmons, Opening of Orchid Gallery by WNHH Community Radio
For those of us who grew up watching Mister Rogers' Neighborhood, Fred Rogers taught us many lessons via his cast of characters in the Land of Make Believe; the most prominent of which is that there are many ways to express your love and appreciation for someone. One member of that cast in particular, Dr. Francois Clemmons ("Officer Clemmons" on the show), carries forth that message even today. Dr. Clemmons joins us to discuss his "cosmic father, cosmic son" relationship with Fred Rogers, spreading love and kindness through music, and how paternal love can flourish even in the absence of a biological relationship. The guys kick off Episode 101 of Modern Dadhood with a short therapy session where Marc vents about the illnesses that have run rampant in his home and the unfortunate passing of the Checket family dog. The guys quickly celebrate crossing the 100 episode threshold, give major thanks and props to audio engineer + mixer Pete Morse, and let the audience know about the passing of Aram Delgado, the son of the late Modern Dadhood guest and Sesame Street star Emilio Delgado. The guys transition to their recent conversation with teacher, actor, singer, and "cosmic father" to many, Dr. Francois Clemmons. For decades, Dr. Clemmons played the beloved character Officer Clemmons on Mister Rogers' Neighborhood, and in the early days, he quickly developed a professional relationship and close personal friendship with Fred and Joanne Rogers. Dr. Clemmons joins us to talk about his lifelong desire to be a father, and how he has achieved that despite not having biological kids of his own. He also shares about experiences working with Mister Rogers, including the famous scene where the two men bathe their feet in a kiddie pool on a hot day. Other conversation topics include:• Fred & Francois' mutual love of studying and discussing the Bible• Francois' sexuality and how it was handled on and off the show• Life lessons that Francois learned from his time on Mister Rogers' Neighborhood• Francois' passion for mentoring students in a fatherly manner• The Harlem Spiritual Ensemble• The historical significance of the most famous "Officer Clemmons" scene• Francois' ability to identify cosmic parents around the world• And more!LINKSDr. Francois Clemmons (homepage)Most Famous Officer Clemmons Scene (with commentary)Won't You Be My Neighbor documentary (Netflix)Francois Clemmons' GoFundMeAram Delgado GoFundMeRed Vault AudioCaspar BabypantsSpencer AlbeeModern Dadhood (website)AdamFlaherty.tvStuffed Animal (Marc's kids' music)MD (Instagram)MD (Facebook)MD (YouTube)MD (TikTok)

John Alexander Lawson was born in 1976, and seemed to have a relatively normal upbringing in Clemmons, North Carolina...or at least there seemed to be nothing to indicate why John, at the age of 24 years old, seemed to radically change his personality and his name. He became Pazuzu Algarad. His name was inspired by "The Exorcist" and he claimed his mother was a Satanist (she wasn't). He didn't shower but once a year, and his house became a party house for many people but not for his victims--it was hell on Earth. How did the sexual revolution impact the church? Why do many who grew up in the days of purity culture feel the message was damaging to those in the church? Terrell Clemmons from Salvo Magazine takes us back in time to the moral shift that led to the sexual revolution. We discuss why expressive individualism is hurting our culture, and why identity is linked to sexuality. This conversation is both eye opening and something the church must take note of. Putnam's story- Why St. Mark's offers confessions multiple times a day, every day- How St. Mark's ended up offering perpetual adoration- The importance of the Mass- Why altar servers are a big part of every Sunday liturgy- How a parish can foster vocations in a real way- And much more...Biography:Father John Putnam has been the pastor of Saint Mark Catholic Church since 2015. This week, in Clemmons, North Carolina, a troubled young man changes his name, covers his face in tattoos, and idolizes Charles Manson, as he builds a weird following, in his filthy house. Monthly sacrifices, and blood drinking make it even weirder, but the real crazy comes, when people begin going to police with stories of murder. This ends up with multiple bodies, unlikely accomplices, and a huge mess!!Along the way, we find out that Betty White loved Legos, that trying to freak out everyone in town usually works, and that when having several corpses at your home, maybe you shouldn't try to draw attention to yourself, and your house!!Hosted by James Pietragallo and Jimmie WhismanNew episodes every Thursday!Donate at: patreon.com/crimeinsports or go to paypal.com and use our email: crimeinsports@gmail.comGo to shutupandgivememurder.com for all things Small Town Murder & Crime In Sports!Follow us on...twitter.com/@murdersmallfacebook.com/smalltownpodinstagram.com/smalltownmurderAlso, check out James & Jimmie's other show, Crime In Sports!
