Ride Bikes Radio 48 - I Am Becoming Old People First show of 2019 and we are talking about folding bicycles, a kick ass LBS experience, the Specialized recall and electric bikes. The Cranksgiving edition of Ride Bikes Radio. It's Thanksgiving here in the states and Brian broke his crank with his massive Hulk-like thighs, so happy Cranksgiving! The Double Century WOW! What a week here at Ride Bikes Radio! Let's start off with some updates from the Strava club where 68 of you clocked over 2400 miles this week! Nicely done! Also, be sure to check out the conversations happening over there, inluding the latest one about chain maintenance. Brian lays down some good rules to follow for us about this too and I have a few tips (links below) for kit and snacks. But, the big reason we are talking today is because Brian rode a double century! That's more than 200 miles (or 322km) and he did that in a single day! He gave us a recap of his experience that I think you guys are going to enjoy listening too. And you know we are going to be talking more about this in upcoming shows for those of you that are looking to get into riding some larger miles! Finally, check out album art! King of the Southwest, aka Don 'don't call me' Burnside, and I, the man with the same inverted initials, busted out edition 25 of the Zen-like Ride Bikes Radio. I had a chance to make some circles with our man George Hsu and of course we broach the subject of our other favorite four letter word, Beer. Ride Bikes Radio #05: The Dorky Helmet Brian starts off by complaining about the heat in Washington and talking about the new paint job on his road bike. Then I promise photos of the Schwinn Collegiate that is my current project bike. A few news items caught out eye this week. There is this helmet with lights and sensors, Audi's electrick mountain bike and a couple of our favorite breweries supporting CancerBlows. And, we are putting our support behind Carmen Smalls, who is battling to get on the Olympic cycling team.
