POPULARITY
Jesus and John the Baptist both preached truth during their ministries in Galilee and there were many, many people who did not join them. Some ridiculed. Most did not care. They did not come to him because they refused to acknowledge him. They were indifferent. Why did the passion for righteousness not drive the citizens of Capernaum, Bethsaida, and Chorazin to embrace Jesus when they were privileged cities in witnessing his miracles and his teaching? The reason was that apathy and indifference are worse than the blind passion of sinful desire. The sinful men of cities like Tyre, Sidon, and Sodom saw judgment from God for certain. But the indifference and apathy of the citizens of cities where Jesus lived and worked and taught saw harsher judgment than the most vile of pagan cities. How do you think about Jesus? Are you passionately in love with the grace offered? or are you indifferent ... apathetic to the whole affair?

Woe unto the nation and the people of God who compromise the written Word of God just for the sake of tolerance and getting along.
