In all fairness, if all that's being considered is the religious system man has labeled Christianity, complete with politics, scandals, prideful preachers, and cultural add-ons, then yes, the perceived arrogance is understandable. Tolerable, even. Why? Because all religions are man-made, they are fallible. Religion as a whole often reflects more of us than they do of God, systems of hierarchy that oppress, rules that control, and rituals that elevate some while excluding others. And if that's all Christianity were, a man-made system like the rest, then it would have no right to claim exclusivity. But here's the plot twist......Closing Song: The Only Way by Yolanda Adamswww.BibleDeliverance.org

Shots are never a fun experience. Even if you are enthusiastic about vaccines, holding your kids as they get them is not usually a high point of parenting. And right now, the conversation about vaccines is increasingly fraught - and not just because our kids are sometimes afraid of needles.Because we're living in a moment where vaccines, long one of the most trusted and studied preventative medical treatments in existence, are suddenly being viewed with skepticism. Debunked theories about the relationship between vaccines and autism, for example, are taking center stage on Instagram and Facebook, but also in congressional hearings. Part of the problem is a lack of understanding. People don't know quite how vaccines work or why there are more now than in the past or how we can know that they are safe. Today on ParentData, we welcome Dr. Adam Davis. Adam is a pediatrician in the Bay Area, and he has a lot to say about vaccines from the perspective of someone who gives them. In the conversation, we talk about our theories on why the COVID vaccine sped up a slow-growing movement around vaccine skepticism, about the role that vaccines play in public health, about what it's like for doctors to deal with vaccine skeptics in their own practice and what people can and can't be talked into or out of, and, because it's a parenting podcast, some hacks for getting your kids through vaccines without too much drama.Subscribe to ParentData.org for free access to new articles every week on data-driven pregnancy and parenting. This episode is generously supported by: Hatch LMNT Little Sesame StrollerCoaster Podcast

Michael McFadden is the CEO of Alpha Cognition, a biopharmaceutical company focused on developing treatments for brain diseases such as Alzheimer's, ALS, and traumatic brain injury. Their drug ZUNVEYL, recently approved by the FDA, is an oral treatment for mild to moderate Alzheimer's that improves symptoms such as memory loss, mental processing speed, and mood changes. A key feature of the drug is fewer gastrointestinal side effects compared to other Alzheimer's drugs coming onto the market. Michael explains, "ZUNVEYL is a class of medications known as acetylcholinesterase inhibitors. It's the second oral compound approved by the FDA to treat Alzheimer's disease in the last decade. So, it is a momentous accomplishment by our company, and it is an accomplishment that will serve patients and physicians well. It's designed to treat symptoms of mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease that many patients suffer from. These are things like memory loss, mental health processing speed, ability to solve problems or remember short-term and long-term things. Also, it affects or allows patients to manage changes in mood or personality that often accompany Alzheimer's disease. So, these are drugs that are used very commonly to treat Alzheimer's disease. We think this drug will have a lot of utility in helping patients and offering physicians a new choice." "About 55% of patients who take a drug for Alzheimer's disease will have some side effect that's so significant they have to stop taking their medicine. So side effects are a primary reason that patients cannot stay on their therapy. The side effects that are most common are GI-related side effects, GI side effects, diarrhea, nausea, or vomiting. We are excited about our compound because we believe if you can't tolerate a medicine, the medicine certainly can't be efficacious for the patients." #AlphaCognition #Alzheimers #AlzheimersDisease #AlzheimersDrug #ZUNVEYL #Dementia alphacognition.com Listen to the podcast here

Hello Bubblies and Tolerables, and welcome to a very special minisode of the podcast. Today is the pod's 5th podiversary and to celebrate I share a bit of what's been streaming in my bubble but more importantly I share what has streamed in Tolerable bubbles. That's right, today's very special episode is a clips show! Out of the few things I share, there are only spoilers for The Visit around 8 min 30 secs. After that it's all about the Tolerables! So join Erin from It's a Fandom Thing, and Eric. The hosts of A Nightmare on Fierce Street, Trent and Sharai. Carla, Laura, and Zo from Back Look Cinema podcast. Meg and Paula, my brother Bryan, Bex from Big Reputations podcast, Nicole and Ryan from Soundtrack Your Life, and Dozer. Thank you all for being tolerable, thank you all for listening for the last 5 years and Keep Streaming!
It can be super easy to slide into a life that we're not passionate about. I've heard so many people say that their life isn't what they want, but it's okay. They have leearned to tolerate a life that feels far below what their spirit is aching for. And that's not okay. You have great things to do and amazing contributions to make in this world, and it won't happen when you are living a tolerable life. Moving out of this life requires courage and a boatload of work, but it is so worth it when you feel a deep fulfillment and a 'coming home' to who you are meant to be. So, how do we stop tolerating a life that we don't love? We start to recognize when and where we're tolerating and we courage up to creating movement. Let's do this!

Is your life in a tolerable level of unhappiness? Men just expect us to stay in that place. Maybe it's subconscious but a lot of men say after a divorce that he didn't think it was that bad despite being told by her numerous times that things needed to change.
This morning we discuss the breathtaking and courageous open letter written by Dr. Tehila Elizur, reported by Daniel Gordis. This letter is signed by hundreds of religious women who are the mothers of IDF soldiers, addressed to their sisters, mothers of Chareidi women whose sons take the Torah learning exemption from military service, to ask them to call on their sons to join the IDF. As Dr. Elizur writes, the current reality is not tolerable in light of Halacha (Jewish Law), Jewish values, and civic responsibility, and it is leading to a terrible divide in Israeli society, which we must all work to avoid. Show Notes It's time for this month's entry in the Alphabet Soup-er Series! The letter I was the subject this time around, and Kris decided to go with the PlayStation cult classic Incredible Crisis. It's a deeply bizarre game about a Japanese businessman who runs away from modern art, gives a stranger a massage on a ferris wheel, answers trivia questions in an ambulance, and way more that's even more bizarre than that. There's no doubt its concept is sound, but is the game actually any fun to play? In Week Old News, the guys discuss the surprise announcement that Atari wants to actually focus on what they're good at, and how Digital Eclipse is dropping 12 more free games into their already incredibly impressive Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration collection. There's a fancy new port of NES Metroid to the Super Nintendo, and similar treatment was given to Kid Icarus by one of our listeners! (Great job, Rumbleminze!) And speaking of homebrew-style work, someone has finally fan-translated the Samurai Shodown RPG that neither Dan or Kris even knew existed, and Level 5's November showcase announces some beefy delays. At the top of the show, Kris talks about his upcoming dental surgery, which will surely be a good time for all parties involved. He also got a new dog from Dan who he's deathly allergic to (sorry again for all the coughing, but there's less this week! Dan is displeased with the state of digital media, especially in the wake of PlayStation's announcement that a ton of their old TV content will be forcibly removed from peoples systems, and a whole lot more! Today, I speak to Sabrina Segal about managing risk in the so -called “third sector”, which is the charity and non-profit sector. Sabrina is an international development and humanitarian assistance professional. She has worked on the ground during many humanitarian crises and international development roles in the likes of the Middle East and North Africa, Sub -Saharan Africa, and South Asia. She is an attorney by training, but for the past few years has been involved in risk management and decision making in the third sector. And she hosts a podcast called Tolerable Risk, which provides insights on these topics. And we get into all of that in this conversation. And I always find insights about risk and decision making from other contexts to be fascinating because there are always a number of transferable things. The third sector deals with high stakes issues, use, complex relationships, and resource constraints. You will hear that that context is incredibly important when it comes to managing risk. You will also hear that ‘traditional risk management' simply doesn't work in this context. And we talk a lot about that. And what I find very impressive and inspirational about what Sabrina does is that she is setting out to change that, and you will certainly hear more about that too.
