Welcome to The Feed from Geek Mountain, Episode 78! ---- Phantasy Star Online 2 released Globally on July 4th and everyone and their grandmother hopped onto this 7 year old MMORPG. Not only was the character creation the best any game had to offer prior to it, but the action drastically differed from many RPGs as well. From monthly events, large-scale boss fights, and concerts, this MMO had everything for casuals, anime fans, hardcore players, and everything in between. It's perfect.... until the release trailer of NG dropped. Players soon found out that this expansion to PSO2 would build upon the Sega RPG, yet nothing important really will transfer between the games and you would start over from Lv1. So how are people now supposed to navigate their way into this new world? idk, but let's make it easier for people starting in. --- Shoutouts to Nyxx_Altios for joining us this week! Take flight into an age of adventure, where swashbuckling sky pirates do battle with an unjust empire and ancient godlike figures. Skies of Arcadia is the product of Sega RPG royalty—Phantasy Star creator Rieko Kodama and the team behind Panzer Dragoon Saga. Released originally for the Dreamcast, and later on the GameCube, the game is a cult classic that deserves greater appreciation. Join Paul and Robert as we discuss its endless charms, its painfully dated faults, and how much it deserves a remaster or sequel. Pledge drive time! We need your help covering the costs of hosting and producing Megaten Marathon and Combo Chain, which are more than $500 a year. Plus, we’re giving away early-access episodes to contributors. We are back. Well at least the Taste Test. Ben from the Playing With Power Podcast asked us to do a Sega RPG and we went with one of the best regarded, Phantasy Star 4. It was ... divisive. Mike loved it and Brandon. Well have a listen and see how Brandon gets the story. so this episode is dedicated to Ben. for all it's worth.
