Send us Fan MailFor decades, stories of UFOs, extraterrestrials, and unexplained aerial phenomena have captured the imagination of filmmakers and audiences alike. Inspired by my father's seventeen years working for NASA—and the stories he shared about humanity's enduring fascination with the possibility of life beyond Earth—I take a deep dive into some of cinema's most influential UFO and alien-themed films. In Part One of this two-part series, I explore classics such as THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL, CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND, E.T. THE EXTRA TERRESTRIAL, STARMAN, THE THING, THEY LIVE, THE ABYSS, FIRE IN THE SKY, and CONTACT. Rather than debating whether UFOs or extraterrestrials exist, this discussion examines what these films reveal about us: our fears, our hopes, our politics, our faith, and our relationship with authority. From Cold War anxieties and government secrecy to environmental concerns, media manipulation, consumerism, and the search for spiritual meaning, these films often use alien encounters as mirrors reflecting the societies that created them. Join me as I look beyond the flying saucers and little green men to uncover the deeper messages hidden within some of science fiction cinema's most enduring works. The truth may be out there—but the stories we tell about it can reveal just as much about humanity as they do about what might exist beyond the stars.Thank you for listening! Hi. For our third and final Background Information Episode, Ty and Aidan, the hosts of Fun Factor, join us for an hour to flip through magazine reviews of Skies of Arcadia! All four of us are capping out RPG visuals at 8/10, receiving Golden Man location information, misunderstanding Duke Nukem's wants and needs, running the triple negative olympics, borrowing ideas from Final Fantasy, gibbering like mad fools, doing british accents, lamenting 128 bits, harkening back to early days, forecasting typos signaling prestige, disenchanting sourpusses, teetering on magnificence, creating Scott Steiner, and wondering if Nintendo Power was on the take. The remainder of the episode features your normal hosts hacking out random battles, cameoing in other games, teasing a modern release, learning some optimization tricks, sharing memories, laying out expectations, counting stuff, and wondering if Nintendo Power was on the take. Skies of Arcadia was easily the best RPG in the year 2000 for Dreamcast. Welcome back to Astronomy Daily! In today's episode, Anna and Avery cover six of the biggest stories in space and astronomy for Friday June nineteenth, twenty twenty-six — from a salty surprise on a mysterious pink world to a little rover completing a marathon on Mars. Story 1: JWST Reveals Salty Clouds on the 'Pink Planet' GJ504b Northwestern University astronomers have used the James Webb Space Telescope to finally crack open the spectrum of GJ504b — the so-called 'Pink Planet' 57 light-years away. The discovery, published in The Astronomical Journal on June 18, reveals an atmosphere filled with exotic chemistry and salt clouds unlike anything previously observed. At just 550°F, it's the coldest planetary-mass companion ever directly imaged. Whether it's a giant planet or a brown dwarf remains an open question, but its salty skies are a first for astronomy. Study led by Aneesh Baburaj, Northwestern University's CIERA. Story 2: Astronomers Solve the Mystery of Black Holes' Delayed Radio 'Burps' Using the NSF's Very Large Array, a team led by Kate Alexander (University of Arizona) has found that roughly 40% of all tidal disruption events — moments when a supermassive black hole shreds a passing star — produce a powerful delayed radio burst months to years after the initial flare. The study, announced June 16, also identifies a chemical fingerprint in early optical spectra that can predict which black holes are likely to produce these late-stage outbursts, giving astronomers a roadmap for long-term monitoring. Story 3: SpaceX Launches NROL-179 — the 14th NRO Proliferated Architecture Mission SpaceX launched NROL-179 from Vandenberg Space Force Base in the early hours of June 19, making it the 14th mission dedicated to building out the National Reconnaissance Office's 'proliferated architecture' — a constellation of small, resilient surveillance satellites. It was the 71st Falcon 9 launch of 2026. Mission details including satellite count and orbit remain classified. Story 4: Astrobotic Unveils Griffin-1: NASA's Moon Base II Lander Pittsburgh-based Astrobotic publicly revealed its Griffin-1 lunar lander on June 15, ahead of environmental testing at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Designated 'Moon Base II' by NASA, Griffin-1 is a 650kg-capacity infrastructure-class lander targeting the lunar south pole region. It will carry 10 payloads from 6 nations, led by Astrolab's FLIP rover (500kg), and is scheduled to launch on a SpaceX Falcon Heavy in Q4 2026. Astrobotic has been recently acquired by Voyager Technologies. Story 5: Lucy Reveals the Life Story of Double-Lobed Asteroid Donaldjohanson Results from NASA's Lucy spacecraft's April 2025 flyby of asteroid 52246 Donaldjohanson were published in Science on June 18. The study, led by Simone Marchi (Southwest Research Institute), reveals a contact binary with a surface over 40 million years old and a younger neck (under 20 million years) built by slow-motion landslides triggered as sunlight gradually braked the asteroid's rotation from a few hours to its current 252.6-hour period. Donaldjohanson is likely a fragment of the Erigone family's parent body, destroyed ~155 million years ago. Story 6: Perseverance Rover Completes a Marathon Distance on Mars NASA's Perseverance rover has driven more than 26.2 miles (42.2 km) on Mars since landing in Jezero Crater in February 2021 — completing a marathon distance. The rover continues science operations beyond the crater's western rim, studying some of the oldest rocks in the mission's history. Perseverance is approaching Opportunity's all-time distance record of 45.16 km for a rover on another world. Mission operations are funded through at least 2028. Hey everyone, I'm Dustin Breeze, your artificially intelligent meteorologist, bringing you real-time weather processing and zero human error bias! So here's the thing about today in New York City, my friends. We're looking at mostly sunny skies with a high near 79 Fahrenheit, but don't get too comfortable because we've got a thirty percent chance of showers rolling in between two and five in the afternoon. And then after five o'clock, we're talking thunderstorms possibilities. I'd say the day is going to be a real mixed bag, but you know what they say, New York weather keeps you on your toes! Light south winds becoming southeast at nine to fourteen miles per hour. Tonight clouds increase, low around 66 Fahrenheit with southeast winds at ten to thirteen miles per hour. Now Thursday, buckle up because this is where things get spicy! Showers likely with thunderstorms possible after two in the afternoon. We're looking at a sixty percent chance of precipitation, and new rainfall amounts less than a tenth of an inch, except thunderstorms could dump more. High near 87 Fahrenheit with south winds around seventeen miles per hour, gusting up to twenty eight. I guess you could say Thursday is going to be a real storm of activity! Here's your Weather Playbook segment. Let's talk about wind shear, folks! This is when wind speed or direction changes at different altitudes, and it's absolutely crucial for thunderstorm development. Think of it like this, when you have stronger winds at higher levels and lighter winds at the surface, it tilts the storm updraft, separating the rain from the updraft and allowing it to keep going stronger longer. It's basically nature's way of organizing chaos, and I absolutely love it! Three day forecast coming at you. Thursday afternoon stays stormy, nighttime partly cloudy, low 69 Fahrenheit. Juneteenth mostly sunny, high 83 Fahrenheit, and that's your beautiful day to get outside. Friday sunny, high 81 Fahrenheit, mostly clear tonight, low 66. Saturday sunny, high 81, mostly clear night at 65. Sunday sunny, high 78. Monday things turn unsettled again with showers likely, high 74. You know what they say, only New Yorkers can complain about perfect weather and thunderstorms in the same week! Remember to subscribe to the podcast for all your weather needs. Thanks for listening, and hey, this has been a Quiet Please production. Learn more at quiet please dot ai.

Hey everyone, I'm Dustin Breeze, your artificially intelligent meteorologist bringing you real-time weather data and actual enthusiasm. So here's the thing about today in New York City. We are looking absolutely gorgeous out there. Sunshine, blue skies, highs hitting around seventy-five Fahrenheit. The wind is coming from the northwest at six to eight miles per hour, switching over to the southwest this afternoon. Honestly, if you're thinking about hitting up Central Park or grabbing a coffee in Times Square, today is your day. Tonight stays pleasant with partly cloudy skies, a low around sixty-five, and light winds. You could literally sleep with your window open and feel like you're on vacation. But here's where it gets interesting, folks. Wednesday is when things start to shift. We're looking at a slight chance of showers early on, then a thirty percent chance of showers and thunderstorms rolling in after two o'clock. I guess you could say Wednesday's forecast is a bit of a wet blanket compared to today. Highs around seventy-five with south winds increasing throughout the morning. Nothing severe, but definitely bring that umbrella you've been meaning to find. Thursday is going to be the real story. We're talking a fifty percent chance of showers with possible thunderstorms after two o'clock. It'll be warmer though, reaching eighty-three Fahrenheit with south winds gusting between eleven and seventeen miles per hour. This is one of those days where you might want to plan indoor activities. Maybe catch a show in the Theater District instead of wandering around Brooklyn. Let me break down the three-day outlook. Wednesday through Thursday brings our chances of precipitation with Thursday being the more active day. Then boom, Juneteenth looks mostly sunny and gorgeous at seventy-nine degrees. This weekend bounces back beautifully with sunny skies on Saturday hitting seventy-seven, and Sunday brings us back up to seventy-nine under sunny skies as well. Now, here's your Weather Playbook moment. Let's talk about wind shear, because that's what's going to be influencing our potential thunderstorms on Thursday. Wind shear happens when wind direction and speed change at different altitudes. This creates this invisible rotating motion in the atmosphere, kind of like rolling a pencil between your hands. When you add moisture and instability to that spinning motion, you get organized storms that can really pack a punch. It's absolutely fascinating how nature orchestrates this stuff. So New York, get out there and enjoy today's perfection. Monday we might see some rain returning, but for now, we're in the clear. Don't forget to subscribe to the podcast, and thanks for listening. Well, it's time for part two (of three!) of our background information blast for Skies of Arcade. To become legends, we're detailing Skies of Arcadia's promotional media, finding a romantic and unreadable font, changing our reputation, kicking ass by the boatload, debating the pronunciation of "Valuan," riddling the skies with danger, adapting the story into manga, producing a $460 figurine, selling an elaborate music box, desiring a Skies of Arcadia candle, recruiting up to 22 crew members, censoring content for the ESRB, and begging you not to put this Dreamcast disc into your CD player. These reports examine the integration of artificial intelligence within the transportation and aviation industries, focusing on economic outcomes and technological growth. The MIT Sloan research utilizes a task-based methodology to assess how AI affects labor productivity, finding that approximately 83% of transportation roles contain tasks susceptible to automation. This analysis suggests that while total job displacement is unlikely, workers with lower education levels face the highest risk of wage stagnation and shifting job requirements. Meanwhile, market data highlights the global expansion of AI in aviation, identifying key applications such as predictive maintenance, air traffic management, and flight operations optimization. Together, the sources project that strategic AI implementation could significantly reduce annual labor costs while necessitating targeted reskilling to protect the workforce. Through these lenses, the documents provide a comprehensive overview of the financial and operational transformations reshaping modern logistics.

For over a century, Pennsylvania has been a hotspot for UFO encounters that baffle experts and leave witnesses questioning reality. From glowing discs in remote lakes to crafts that defy physics, the Keystone State's skies are filled with the mysterious, paranormal, and extraterrestrial.EPISODE BLOG PAGE (includes sources): https://weirddarkness.com/PennsylvaniaUFOsREAD or DOWNLOAD the full transcript of this episode: https://weirddarkness.tiny.us/ye247nxkFEATURED STORIES IN THIS EPISODE: Pennsylvania has always been a land of mysteries in the skies. It has become one of the most intriguing destinations for UFO sightings throughout the years, with tales that date back long before the term “flying saucer” was even coined. From glowing discs hovering over fields, to objects that break the laws of physics, the state's history is filled with encounters that leave you wondering what might actually be out there. And these are not mere passing glimpses; these are encounters that can leave a witness profoundly shaken – altered for life. There's the Carbondale incident, where strange lights in a lake sent people into a panic. There's the experienced aviator who encountered something that decades in the cockpit could not explain. There are numerous accounts of silent craft and disc-shaped objects, eerie lights in the sky — occasions when the stars were blotted out. There are reports of the stopping of time, an encounter that had state troopers speechless, and even an extraterrestrial werewolf-like entity. From the earliest sightings in 1917 through more modern accounts, Pennsylvania's connection to the UFO phenomenon is undeniable, if not unbelievable. What's going on in the skies over the Keystone State? And why is it happening there in particular?CHAPTERS & TIME STAMPS (All Times Approximate)…00:00:00.000 = The Foreboding00:01:37.162 = Show Open00:02:45.008 = Chapter 01: Lanterns and Lies: The Carbondale UFO Mystery00:11:48.101 = Chapter 02: Eerie Lights in Erie ***00:15:12.728 = Chapter 03: The Oil City Light Show00:16:46.996 = Chapter 04: Saylor's Lake, Silent Lights, and a Stunned State Trooper00:18:09.833 = Chapter 05: A Tent, A Grandmother, And A Silent Visitor Overhead00:20:02.281 = Chapter 06: The Wainwright's Werewolf00:25:33.631 = Chapter 07: The Black Circle In The Sky ***00:27:55.349 = Chapter 08: Friday Night Lights In The Sky00:30:36.853 = Chapter 09: Playing Chicken With An Experienced Pilot00:32:40.481 = Chapter 10: Mind Probing and Time Stopping00:35:41.135 = Chapter 11: The First Saucers00:41:31.466 = Chapter 12: Why Pennsylvania? ***00:44:16.924 = Show Close & Bloopers*** = Begins immediately after inserted ad breakLISTEN ON PODCAST APPS: Look for this podcast on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, iHeart Radio, Amazon Music, Pandora, TuneIn Radio, and other podcast apps. Copyright ©2026, Weird Darkness.Originally aired: February 24, 2025Weird Darkness traces more than a century of unexplained encounters in the skies over Pennsylvania, from a glowing disc submerged in a Carbondale lake to a werewolf-faced figure tied to a silent craft, the apparent stopping of time outside New Kensington, and the geography researchers believe may explain why the Keystone State draws so many sightings. It opens with the Carbondale incident of November 1974, when teenagers Bill Lloyd, John Lloyd, and Bob Gillette watched a golden-white light streak from the direction of Salem Mountain and drop near the lake outside Russell Park. A disc-shaped glow moved beneath the water, the surface fizzed and turned a sickly green-yellow, and when Officers Barbero and Jacobina fired their weapons at it, the object appeared to dodge the shots. The boys overheard a police radio order to hold off the news media, watched a scuba diver surface screaming, and saw a crane and delivery truck brought to the water's edge under the eye of Police Chief Francis Dottle — only for divers to later produce a single old railroad worker's lantern and declare the whole thing a hoax. Matt Graeber of the UFO Report and Information Center in Philadelphia arrived at five in the morning to find a crowd of between fifteen hundred and three thousand people ringing the lake. From there the episode moves to February 1975 in Simpson, where a driver on Route 171 joined other motorists pulled over to watch red and green lights hover before a white beam appeared and the object shot off faster than a fighter jet. That June, two friends fishing at Red Bank near the Allegheny Reservoir tracked a craft that stopped dead in midair and hovered for roughly an hour, then heard KDKA radio report at six-thirty that morning that a UFO had crashed into an eastern Pennsylvania lake and the National Guard had it surrounded, before the story disappeared from every outlet. Near Erie around the same stretch, two motorists stopped to study a silent disc about eighty feet across hanging a thousand feet up, ringed with red, yellow, blue, and green lights, and afterward never spoke of it to each other again.Next comes Oil City on November 1, 1974, where CB radio chatter about lights near the Vocational Technical Center across from Oil City High School drew a group of brothers out to look. They found three or four bright lights spread miles apart, moving in geometric formations no aircraft could manage, performing for nearly two hours in front of hundreds of onlookers. The account then shifts to Saylor's Lake in Monroe County on the evening of March 1, 1973, where lights began darting fifteen hundred feet above the water around seven-thirty, shifting between white, red, and blue. State Trooper Jeffrey Hontz, sent to investigate, later told the press the display looked like Christmas trees flying in the air. Witnesses counted roughly forty separate lights, all of them silent at an altitude where planes or helicopters would have roared, and the spectacle lasted until just before eleven. That summer of 1973 in Erie, a teenager sleeping in a backyard tent to escape the heat saw a red, star-like object cross the sky with apparent purpose and ran inside to fetch his grandmother. By the time the two returned, the sky had filled with colored star-like objects moving at impossible angles and near-collisions before they winked out of existence rather than flying away, and the grandmother, though she had watched the whole half-hour, afterward refused to discuss any of it.The most frightening encounter belongs to Bensalem on August 27, 1973, when Alan and Elsie Wainwright saw a boomerang-shaped craft glide silently over their home, halt overhead, and d
West Virginia plays home to some of the most bizarre beasts and eccentric entities ever put to paper, but even among its outlandish ilk, there's one that stands out from the rest: the Flatwoods Monster. For all that's been written about this mechanical goliath, the story most know is only a small part of the truth. When all the surviving accounts are stitched together, what emerges is something much stranger—and potentially far more terrifying—than most would dare to imagine. Hello and welcome to season nine of Retrograde Amnesia, featuring Skies of Arcadia. In the first (of three) background/information episodes, we'll be talking about the game as it relates to shipping on two GD-ROMs, refusing to appear on modern digital storefronts, becoming crushed by reality, combining World War I & II military ships with the Age of Discovery, communicating with wind, citing influence from Laputa: Castle in the Sky and Dragon Quest III, building the world around six colors, refusing a travel budget, blatantly referencing Moby Dick and Robinson Crusoe, forming the Hottie Production Committee, dynamically adjusting the music, eliminating baby talk, "throwing away the Japanese text," and un-mysterying the misdirection. Realism may not be acceptable for an RPG just yet. 00:00:00 Lost Time 00:01:55 Intro 00:02:54 What Is This 00:04:47 Release Information 00:09:31 How to acquire and play Skies of Arcadia in 2026 00:12:13 Atsushi Seimiya 00:18:15 Shuntaro Tanaka 00:27:20 Reiko Kodama 00:49:31 Soundtrack 00:53:37 Localization 01:03:28 Unsubstantiated Claims 01:09:04 Real Net 01:14:09 Outro Patreon: patreon.com/retroam Bluesky: @retrogradeamnesia.bsky.social YouTube: www.youtube.com/@RetrogradeAmnesia E-Mail: podcast@retrogradeamnesia.com Website: www.retrogradeamnesia.com

This sermon begins by examining the first six verses, where the sun and sky act as witnesses to his power without speaking a single word. Psalm 19 // Jacob NanniePsalm 19 provides a beautiful bridge between general revelation in nature and special revelation in scripture. This sermon begins by examining the first six verses, where the sun and sky act as witnesses to his power without speaking a single word. We then transition into the second half of the chapter, focusing on how his word is more desirable than gold and sweeter than honey. We conclude with a personal reflection on the final prayer of the psalmist, asking that the words of our mouths and the meditations of our hearts be pleasing to him, our rock and our redeemer.SERMON NOTES (YouVersion): https://bible.com/events/49617698 PRAYER REQUESTS: https://ccefc.ccbchurch.com/goto/forms/2553/responses/new26.06.07

Have you ever imagined a woman soaring through the skies at 6,000+ meters, shattering the proverbial glass ceiling in a country where female pilots are a rare sight? Today, we delve into the remarkable story of Fatemeh Eftekhari, Iran's first female pilot and a trailblazer for women in aviation and extreme sports. Her journey is not just about flying; it's about defying societal norms, pushing boundaries, and inspiring a new generation of women to chase their dreams no matter the obstacles. Deep breath in… we've made it to June.I am coming to you with good tidings, as Venus and Jupiter reach toward each other in the final days of their luminous embrace. The Great Benefic and the Planet of Love will perfect their conjunction on June 9th, and we are headed into a very special weekend as the Moon and Jupiter enter into a state of special reciprocity in honor of the occasion. I am a little late in releasing the June podcast, which I had the pleasure of recording with the inimitable Brandon Alter of the Spiritual Gayz last week. But I am happy to be writing you this evening, and calling your attention to the skies at this moment. As the Moon moves into Pisces this weekend and into mutual reception with Jupiter, take some time to soak in these life-giving waters and appreciate how far you've come. As a Cancer Sun, I have experienced Jupiter's year-long transit through my Sun sign as a period of incredible growth. It is Jupiter's nature to expand whatever he touches, and as he moves through a sign, he seeks to bless and support growth in the corresponding area of life. But the hard truth is that sustainable growth rarely feels like we imagine it will. As a rule, Jupiter's blessings are not always lasting; there are circumstances in which—if we're being honest—as much as we love him, the guy can be a bit of a blowhard. Think of Indra. Think of Zeus. In every pantheon, the King of the Gods is routinely overdoing it. Sometimes Jupiter traps us in a too much too fast dilemma. It's easy to ride the intoxicating energy of his enthusiastic momentum into a shape we ultimately can't hold. Short-lived blessings are not necessarily worthless. Jupiter's adventures are full of learning and often represent treasured experiences, whether or not they lead to long-lived or lasting circumstances. But what is unique about Jupiter in Cancer (and one of the reasons I believe that Jupiter is exalted in Cancer) is that growth in the home of the Moon can never really outpace the limits of our nervous system. In Cancer, Jupiter works on our capacity to love, nourish, and remain in consistent, loving contact with ourselves. Jupiter can't blow past our limits in Cancer because the nature of Cancer is to be responsive to emergent need. Cancer is the home of the mother. It is the primordial, nourishing waters of the womb, and no matter the quality of nourishment we received from our inevitably limited human mothers, each of us must eventually learn to mother ourselves. It is from this capacity to create safety for our hearts, bodies, and minds that real, lasting, sustainable growth can occur.Jupiter's time in Cancer is coming to an end, but the wealth he leaves behind is lasting. Jupiter has strengthened our container. We can hold more because we can love ourselves more. We can be present with the world because we can be present with ourselves. We've met the boundless self by tending to its limits.I wish each of you a beautiful month, full of gentleness and pleasure. I don't know what final gift Jupiter and Venus will bring, but I hope each of you receives it with joy and love for yourself and others.Love, ChristinaJourney with the Sun:I am currently enrolling for Journey with the Sun, a year-long container for building a living, embodied relationship with your birth chart. Summary: Inspired by his travels across Japan, Ryan Sprague explores the country's fascinating history of UFOs, mysterious aerial phenomena, and supernatural legends. From ancient texts and sacred traditions to stories passed down through generations, Japan's rich folklore is filled with accounts of strange objects in the sky and unexplained encounters. At the heart of this episode is the famous Utsuro Bune legend, in which fishermen discover a bizarre vessel adrift at sea carrying a mysterious humanoid unlike anyone they had ever seen. Often considered Japan's earliest UFO story, it is just one of many intriguing cases Ryan examines as he uncovers the enduring mysteries, folklore, and possible UFO encounters woven throughout Japan's history. In this Somewhere in the Skies classic, Ryan revisits a fascinating conversation with author and researcher, Mike Clelland, about his influential book, The Messengers: Owls, Synchronicity, and the UFO Abductee. Drawing from countless firsthand accounts, Clelland explores the mysterious connection between owls and UFO encounters, uncovering patterns that challenge conventional explanations. The conversation delves into the strange overlap between alien contact experiences, synchronicities, dreams, archetypes, spiritual transformation, and even death. Blending folklore, personal testimony, and his own experiences, Clelland examines the possibility that owls play a profound and symbolic role in some of humanity's most extraordinary encounters with the unknown. Day 1,557.Today, after a weekend that saw Russian ships hit by drones, hit by drones and hit by drones again, it ended with another Russian ship being seized by abseiling Frenchmen. Meanwhile, Ukraine's “logistics lockdown” continued, leading to fuel rationing in Crimea and more Russian oil refineries self-sanctioning in very dramatic ways; no wonder Putin's Finance Minister has said Russia's spending on the war has gone two trillion rubles over budget.Contributors: Dom Nicholls (Host on Ukraine: The Latest). @DomNicholls on X.Sophie O'Sullivan (Telegraph journalist).Adelie Pojzman-Pontay (Host on Ukraine: The Latest). @adeliepjz on X.With thanks to Stergios-Aristoteles Mitoulis (Associate Professor of engineering at the Bartlett School of Sustainable Construction at UCL). @DrMitoulis on X.Producer: Rachel PorterSenior Producer: Lilian FawcettVideo Producer: Sophie O'SullivanSocial Producer: Gezim HilajStudio Director: Meghan SearleExecutive Editor: Francis DearnleyCreated by David KnowlesNOW IN FULL VIDEO WITH MAPS & BATTLEFIELD FOOTAGE:Every episode is now available on our YouTube channel shortly after the release of the audio version. This is it! Now we determine Algo's future... our future! Before we sleep in peace, we'll be jumping into the hole, replicating a sick 1994 screensaver, appreciating an efficient end game dungeon, fighting differently colored jobbers, producing a disgusting sound, inventing Lavos, predicting a god-christ form, blowing it all at once, breathing in sword dust, entering a protective bubble, speculating the genesis of Phantasy Star V, demanding a hopeful ending, saying everyone's name, and deciding to stay home. It’s early in the long winter night at the south pole. But a few dozen scientists and others have settled in at a research base there. They monitor the weather and climate, listen to rumbles in the ice below, and watch auroras dancing in the dark skies above. And they operate observatories that study the universe beyond. One of those observatories is buried in the ice. Known as IceCube, it’s a set of thousands of light detectors. They look for evidence of neutrinos – particles that are produced in the Sun, exploding stars, and other powerful objects and events. They almost never interact with other matter. But when one does interact, by smashing into an ice molecule, it produces a quick flash of light. Studying that flicker reveals details about the neutrino, including its origin. And that tells scientists more about the body that created it. Another observatory, the South Pole Telescope, studies the “afterglow” of the Big Bang. Known as the cosmic microwave background, it’s a sort of “haze” that fills the entire universe. Tiny fluctuations in the haze reveal details about the birth of the first stars and galaxies. Water vapor in the atmosphere absorbs microwaves. But the south pole is almost two miles high, and it’s so cold that there’s almost no water vapor in the skies above it. That allows the 10-meter dish to study the background glow in great detail – under the clear, dark skies at the bottom of the world. Script by Damond Benningfield

As today's UFO conversation becomes increasingly centered on American military footage and government hearings, it's important to remember that this phenomenon has never respected borders. In this re-release of Somewhere in the Skies, Ryan revisits the 2004 Mexican Air Force UFO encounter, where infrared cameras aboard a military patrol aircraft captured multiple unknown objects during an official mission. Along with military testimony, radio transmissions, and reports delivered to Mexico's Secretary of Defense, the case remains one of the strongest examples of UFO activity beyond the United States. Joined by researcher Ruben Uriarte, Ryan explores extraordinary cases spanning Mexico and the American Southwest, including the Cisco Grove encounter, the Carlos de los Santos incident, and the rumored Coyame UFO crash. Revisiting this conversation today serves as a reminder that the UFO mystery is global, deeply human, and far bigger than any one country's narrative. In this chilling episode of Somewhere in the Skies, Ryan explores three little known UFO encounters that continue to challenge explanation decades later. From a wave of mysterious disc sightings sweeping across Idaho during the summer of 1947, to a terrifying close encounter between a Uruguayan naval corporal and strange humanoid beings beneath a remote lighthouse, to the haunting abduction account of Charles Moody in the deserts of New Mexico, each case reveals the deeply human impact of the UFO phenomenon. Blending historical research, witness testimony, and enduring mystery, these forgotten encounters remind us that some of the most compelling UFO stories are the ones history nearly left behind.
