"You can't use Ray. Our mortgage is in his name." "I guess he's right. What's your name again, kid?" "No names, Ray. I do not want to get too attached to this kid. You know, just in case. Hehe, you want to remember what happened to the last guy." With the release of “GHOSTBUSTERS: AFTERLIFE”, podcasters from across the globe are on a mission to celebrate 37 years of busting ghosts by revisiting the movies (and games) of this epic franchise! Something to be thankful for: a new podcast and a new Neptunia game is coming next year. Announced for 2022, Hyperdimension Neptunia: Sisters vs Sisters is an action rpg featuring girls old and new. I'll give what little info we have about the game from Compile Heart. It's the day before Thanksgiving here, but we still had plenty to talk about even on a short week. Two new trailers dropped for Atelier Sophie 2 featuring the two main characters: Sophie and Plachta. An 8 eight trailer for Relayer came out today, all about the giant robots you'll be piloting in early 2022. A ton of screenshots for Made in Abyss: Binary Star Falling into Darkness came out this week as well as some info about the game. Check the links below to see them all. I'm really excited for the new mobile entry in the Bravely series (yes I know that's a dangerous game of hope to play). It's not gacha and features new and old characters alike. A full Bravely experience in the palm of your hand could be amazing if done correctly. I'll share what we know so far. I talk about a few more games and the results of the Tales of poll, including who fans like the most and best mascot. Back to Thursday next week! This week on Axe of the Blood God, Kat, Nadia, and Eric board the Magic School Bus and travel back to the very beginnings of JRPG development. Audi also has tons of history to share about the MSX, and other high-tech '80s stuff that was vital to the early evolution of JRPGs. Frankly, he's the proverbial Miss Frizzle on this trip. Without him, Kat, Nadia, and Eric would probably fall out of the bus and get eaten by a microprocessor. We've got an extra beefy episode today, because guess what, it's JRPG time! Gita Jackson joins the pod to talk Shin Megami Tensei V, a game we totally don't call “the dark souls of Pokemon” in any serious way but it was too cursed to not get out of my head I'm sorry. It is, however, a traditional JRPG in a lot of ways that most other franchises have moved on from, for better and for worse. After the break, Rob and Patrick have been revving up their engines in the new Forza Horizon 5. Patrick is enjoying it as a first time Horizon player but Rob has a bone to pick both with some electronic break models and the ghost of Cado's drivatar haunting his races. After the outro stick around to hear Patrick and Cado, then Patrick and Austin, gush over the 15 minute Elden Ring gameplay video. #potboygangDiscussed: Shin Megami Tensei V 9:32, Forza Horizon 5 52:35, Darkest Dungeon II 1:29:59, Question Bucket 1:36:58, The Elden Ring Minute 1:58:50 See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

While there, we're angrily boarding a train, being a major creep, inducing sniper drama, accepting a test of courage, meandering about Deling City, avoiding public transit,  navigating a tomb maze, beating up Brothers, meeting an incidental ghost buddy, reporting student 190, waiting in the cricket night, switching fascist regalia, observing vertical time, and discussing a political assassination scheme in public. Check out the image gallery for the episode here: https://imgur.com/a/oh1zlgk   There's a curiousity in all of us. Sometimes that curiousity can spark us to learn a new skill, dive deep into a hobby, or maybe try a new food. And then other times that curiousity can lead us sailing a boat straight into a magical storm wall encircling an island cursed with a demonic plague. Meet Adol Christin, the subject of the Ys series, probably the greatest JRPG series you've never heard of that has been quietly pumping out games since 1987. Adol's wanderlust and penchant for surviving ship explosions leads him to far-off lands, often dealing with some inexplicable ancient magic and/or hidden civilization populated with sentient dinosaurs. Today, we're breaking down every single Ys game to date, ending with the ninth entry that came out earlier this year. Special thanks to "Master Specter" for commissioning today's episode!
