Filmmaker/Podcaster Bill Fulkerson (OTC Industries - Outside the Cinema podcast, SURVIVAL OF THE FILM FREAKS, SAFER SPACES) returns to share a byline with the Video Monsters and chat about about one of the most severely underappreciated Stephen King adaptations, THE NIGHT FLIER (1997)! The film is about a craven bloodsucker who flies along the east coast preying on juicy, unsuspecting witnesses. Oh, and did we mention that he's also trying to track down a vampire?! AND he's played by the legendary Miguel Ferrer in a rare leading role!!! How could someone NOT love this flick?! So grab your pilot license, brush your retractable vampire fang, meet us at the airport, and debate the logistics of vampire urine with us as we get an Inside View of THE NIGHT FLIER with Bill Fulkerson! If you enjoy this episode, come join the Video Monsters crew on Discord (https://discord.gg/sjyUQg8phB)!! Hangout episodes are live (and unedited!) every Tuesday night starting around 9:30pm EST. Listen and chat along with us in the Discord chat and we'll even give you a shoutout on the episode! Bill Fulkerson (co-writer/co-director of SURVIVAL OF THE FILM FREAKS and host of the OUTSIDE THE CINEMA podcast), joins the Video Monsters to discuss his TRANSPORTATIONSPLOITATION pick, Richard Franklin's ROADGAMES (1981). This early Ozploitation flick is a pitch-perfect Hitchcock pastiche about a charming truck driver (Stacy Keach) who unintentionally gets swept up in the hunt for a serial killer. It's essentially REAR WINDOW on the road. Despite its premise and the implied sleaziness of its poster, ROADGAMES is surprisingly just as much a laid back hangout movie as it is a cat-and-mouse road thriller. Nathan, Eric, Dan, and Bill discuss the wonderful performances of Stacy Keach and Jamie Lee Curtis, the screenplay that's deceptively well structured despite how loose and fun the movie feels, the way Franklin remixes Hitchcock tropes to constantly keep the audience on edge, and so much more. And, of course, there's no way one could cover this movie without getting into an extensive side conversation on the film career of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson! Right?! So hitch up your trailer, hide your dingo, keep those guitar strings handy, and watch out for rogue rabbits because it's time to play some ROADGAMES! The Video Monsters are once again joined by friend and fellow film freak, Kyle Kuchta (co-director, SURVIVAL OF THE FILM FREAKS), to discuss CREEP (2004) as we keep moving right along with our Horror in Motion (or, Transportationsploitation) series. This feature-film directorial debut of Christopher Smith harkens back to gothic horror (with a splash of 80s creature features) as it presents an incredibly solid horror movie that can be enjoyed as either a simple monster story of things that go bump in the night, or as a more complex story with deeper meanings of classism and the hell that women experience with sexual assault. So grab your metro pass, stay away from the windows, and don't forget George Clooney's number as we board the last podcast of the night with our review of CREEP!
